Had a telehealth appointment that ended a half hour before the pharmacy closed. I immediately drove over there assuming there would be rigamarole getting me into the system as a new customer. I was shocked that in the minutes it took me to drive over, the pharmacist already had my prescription filled and ready to go, plus he had found my insurance in the database, so everything was set. The entire transaction from entering the store to leaving took about 90 seconds, all I had to do was pay. Will definitely return!

The CVS Pharmacy in Winchester is dependable, with the usual caveat: timing is everything. Go at…read morethe wrong hour and you may want to mentally clear your schedule. The pharmacists tend to operate with a certain level of intensity--professional, yes, but not exactly warm-and-fuzzy. Thankfully, the rest of the staff balances that out nicely by being helpful, patient, and consistently polite, even when the store is packed and everyone seems mildly annoyed to be there. Then there's Sam, who deserves her own paragraph. She greets me every time with a genuine smile and a cheerful "hey," which somehow manages to cut through the general New England reserve. It feels like a throwback to the small-town pharmacy service I grew up with in Arkansas--friendly, human, and refreshingly unpretentious. In a town where many people seem perpetually in a hurry or slightly above interacting with strangers, Sam is a genuine delight. She's the kind of employee who makes a chain pharmacy feel personal, and that's no small feat. Despite picking up prescriptions weekly for three different people, I rarely run into issues. Everything is usually ready when it should be, and any hiccups are handled without drama. The store is clean, well lit, and organized, even when it's crowded and chaotic. All things considered, this CVS does its job well--and Sam elevates it from "fine" to "worth coming back to." I don't see any reason to switch pharmacies anytime soon.

I have a prescription for my son's formula because of his severe allergy -- this is all he is allowed to eat and I take it very seriously where I get this food for him. I would call ahead of time and be told "Just call the day before the prescription renews and we'll fill it for you." Then I would do as instructed and call the day before, only to hear "You can't do that! We need to order it for you ahead of time!!" This happened three consecutive months and didn't improve when I went into the store in person to order ahead of time either. On two occasions, the pharmacy manager lectured ME on their procedures and order schedule. I finally had enough of being treated like this and switched pharmacies to a competitor.
