I don't like leaving negative reviews, I know it's compliated to run a business and probably even more complicated when you are running a location of a huge national chain business. But I am hoping maybe someone, somewhere in the chain of command at this local CVS and maybe corporate CVS reads some of these reviews and can hopefully help implement some changes. I am giving three stars soley for the pharmacy staff. They try. Because the vast majority of them are absolutely lovely, helpful, accomodating and try hard to answer your questions....particularly the pharmacists and some of the pharmacy techs. However, they are obviously grossly understaffed. Which is not only unfair to the patients/customers, it's unfair to the hardworking pharmacy staff and even the prescribers who are expecting the prescriptions they send over to be filled accurately and in a timely manner. The lack of availiable staff to answer questions, the wait time, the errors in billing the insurances, the disaster that is their phone system, and so forth...it's not their fault really. But, it really effects the patients and their customers and if I were reviewing solely on that basis, I would give zero stars. The staff in the "front" are always nice and friendly. The store is often a bit of a mess and while they are generally well stocked (see below for more), there is often "too much"...like there are too many displays and items falling off their designated spaces. I also understand that this is not the fault of the "front staff." But it makes the store feel unnecessarily crowded and cluttered. They have a wide array of everything you would expect to see in a pharmacy (OTC mediciations, cosmetics, soaps, candy) and even a small grocery area. Often their freezers and refrigerators where perishable foods are kept seem to be out of order. IE: not working AT all. Frozen meals are room temperature, yogurts in the refrigerated section are at room temperature as well. So, I no longer rely on being able to conveniently grab these items. But they are well stocked in non perishables like cereal, pretzels/chips, granola bars. The building is getting old, the carpets are honestly just nasty and stained/sticky, you aren't allowed to use their (formerly public) restroom anymore but it was deplorable, and many of their shelves are looking as though they've needed to be taped up or secured in several places from breaking. It smells. And sadly, they are consistently significantly pricier on common pharmacy items (like supplemental nutritional drinks) than the Walgreens right up the street and are almost always out of stock on these particular imporant items for members of our community. The staff here deserves better than these working conditions and having to deal with (understandably) disgruntled patients/customers. I hope that maybe this location can get a much needed makeover and some more staff to help out the pharmacy with better training on how to consistenly fill peoples' medications, and billing insurances accurately. Our community (that has many senior citizens) would be very grateful to have this CVS location return to the way it looked and operated when it was in its prime. read more

I have been going to CVS for nearly 30 years. The store and it's staff have gotten progressively worse over the last 10 years. The pharmacy is only concerned about turning over prescriptions and does not care about the patients nor care. I just was trying to answer the automated prompts and was denied the opportunity to receive free COVID tests because 'we are closing soon' (Eve though this was my 2nd trip back because my simple albuterol prescription was ready yet. I often order photos from this store and recently I orders photos of my students for a Christmas project. I went to pick up my photos, paid for them, and they were never put onto my bag. Due to a time crunch I had to re order them and ran back to the store on my lunch break. When I got there I explained I never received the original photos and the girl was like there's nothing I can do. I had both orders online to show the manager and he insisted on going into the back to watch the camera. All this Over 10$ in pictures! Meanwhile they messed up! I explained I was on my Lunch break. He wouldn't give me the benefit of the doubt and I just paid again to get the heck outta there! Horrible customer service. Even the workers thought he was ridiculous. Very pleasant CVS, located in a easy to enter parking lot even though it can be busy on RT25A during rush hours. Plenty of parking spots, and shopping carts. Inside it is very homely, and provides a comfortable setting. Very civilized area with very civilized people. You might get some kids riding bikes at the front entrance sometimes, but no problems. The customer service is EXCELLENT(usually they have one person by the counter, but when a line forms he/she asap calls for backup and the calvary arrives), and they often have very good deals. I suggest only buy their stuff when it is on sale, as their prices are higher than the supermarkets. They do have milk, eggs, ice cream, and many 99 cents items. I haven't done any photo printing here, but I took my passport photos here and it is much cheaper than the darn post office. Only 7.99 compared to post office 12-15 dollars.(i forgot exact price) But, I do see alot of people coming to the photo section. So, if you are around the area - do some shopping here - CVS of East Setauket offers a pleasant shopping experience. read more

WE ARE NEW TO THE AREA. This is the most unorganized and rude pharmacy that I've ever been too. Three pharmacist and the assistants are not helpful. When I asked too speak with the pharmacist regarding an over the counter medication for my 6 yr old with a NUT allergy, he was not very friendly at all, he actually came over and was annoyed that i had a question. Then they are having a problem with my inurance card and they insisted i pay full price and get reimbursed by the insurance company. Their computer keeps stating " needs pharmacy participantion". They have thier phone off the hook not answering calls. In addition NO ONE KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON. UNBELIEVABLE #! $!#&: NEVER USE THIS PLACE. RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Pharmacy is absolutely terrible.... every time I come in to pick up a script there is an issue!!! A quick example is as follows: My daughter had a 102 fever... the script was called in at 630... I left work in BROOKLYN to pick it up, arrived at CVS at 805 and the incompetent cashier/pharmacist said it will be AT LEAST another 30 MINUTES!!! One star is several stars too many for this pharmacy. I personally have a CPhT (certified pharmacy technician) and not only are they rude and inefficient but they're dangerous. This is the local pharmacy for me, I only use it because I'm stuck picking up rX's for my father & grandmother and they send it to this farce of a pharmacy. They don't fill rX's in a timely manner. If anything is delayed a day or two they won't tell you. If they have to order it for you they won't tell you, they won't even alert you when it arrives. They have a pharmacy technician whose words are rude and his tone condescending. He does not listen to concerns, and flat out lies. The staff here generally are polite in person but rude on the phone, but this one employee takes it to a new level. When calling you wonder why it takes so long for an answer - they must be busy, right? Nope! Go there in person, you'll see them let the phone ring quite a while before picking it up even when there's no line & clearly enough employees where it could be answered. I long for the day that my family members change pharmacies, the CVS closes, or they switch out the employees of the pharmacy, until then I will loathe this location and not buy anything except medication so the store itself does not make money. One thing to note, the manager of the store itself is a good employee, he'll ring up in the pharmacy when they can't be bothered, it's a pity he has no say in how the pharmacy is run. Shweta the Pharmacist was the BEST I have ever dealt with in 5+ decades on this earth! The rest of the staff like Curtis, Laura, Francesca etc., were VERY keen, helpful, courteous, professional and OUTSTANDING as well. I clearly noticed this when yesterday I received a call from Curtis indicating I was next up for Covid 19 vaccine! From this point on until today and meeting these ladies I mentioned, all went perfectly smooth! They are a GREAT TEAM of employees and CVS as a whole is the best, especially for this vaccine etc.. Hey, this pharmacy is nice. It's my home pharmacy. I really like it here. The pharmacy staff is really nice and really know what they are talking about. I had no trouble getting my meds here, and if I need other things like groceries, I can get them here as well. I tried other pharmacies before, but this one is the best. Like I been to Stop and Shop and they tell me "oh we don't have your medication" and then I have to suffer some kind of malady. Doesn't happen with this store. They always have my meds when I need them. The staff is so nice and friendly. I always leave with a smile as I leave the store because I know that my health and well-being is taken care of. Quality has deteriorated at this CVS with the arrival of many new personnel -- particularly the recently-arrived pharmacy techs and the extremely young and obviously inexperienced "Manager" for this store. For example, my wife once asked to speak to the pharmacist about a script and was told that the pharmacist on-duty (a very elderly man that she'd never seen before) was "too busy." She said she would wait but was told again, "He's too busy." On a separate occasion, a Pharmacy tech insisted that I had been given the correct medication. When I questioned the name on the label, this individual said: "That's the generic name for it." Upon reiterating my concern, this individual actually got annoyed at me....However, it was for the best that I kept asking questions, because eventually the she reexamined the label turned out that she GAVE ME THE WRONG MEDICATION! What's worse, is that I got no apology for this dangerous error. Instead, the individual said: "I thought you called "it" (the drug) something else." There's a 24 hour CVS located on Rt. 347....It is staffed by brilliant people, they have a drive-up window and the place is designed to accommodate the needs of those coming from nearby hospitals....Go there and they will provide superior service. read more

The wait times to pick up prescriptions are incredible. I have never waited less than 15 mins to pick up a prescription, even if they have called me to say that it's ready (it often is not in spite of the call). If you wait in the store for you prescription to be ready, they will not call your name when it's ready so you just have to periodically muscle your way to the front to check on it. read more

Long lines, untrained staff that can't read their computers properly to figure out how to refill scripts, communications with doctors that fail to suceed, medicines ordered that never show up and have to be reordered... this is not rocket science. read more

** This review is specifically about the pharmacy ** I had been with this cvs for 2.5 years because it was the only one within walking distance of SUNY Stony Brook. Every month for those 2.5 years, they got my prescription wrong (I need a specific manufacturer) and I would have to return again in 2 days so that they had time to order the correct one. Every month. Some of the pharmacy staff was very rude to me, trying to tell me that the manufacturer doesn't matter, they're all the same, the only difference is 1 ingredient, I'm kidding myself, etc... when there is known medical evidence that for this specific medication, the manufacturer makes a difference in the outcome. I would even call and go in person a couple days ahead to remind them to order the right meds and they would still get it wrong. After a while they started recognizing me and knowing that "I meant trouble" and treated me poorly. Since getting a car and switching to a different CVS pharmacy, I haven't had this problem. read more
