Cvs Pharmacy violated California state law by denying me my diabetes medication when it was in stock and had a valid prescription because of a computer glitch. They left me in a medical emergency. They would not help me out and they violated California law and I will be filing a complaint with the California Pharmacy board. Their district manager was useless. Would give zero stars if I could. Waited on hold 45 minutes - see photo. No one picked up. The app was not showing that my prescription had been received, yet alone filled, so I wanted to speak to someone to confirm its status before driving to the store. Arrived at the store (having given up after 30 minutes, but I kept my status "in line" on the call just in case someone decided to pick up. When I got to the store, there was a line of frustrated customers. The rumors are true - fill your prescription anywhere else! Edited to add that when I reached the front of the line and explained that I had waited 45 minutes on hold and wondered why??, the young woman who helped me responded, "OK, can I get your phone number?" No apology, not even when I pointed out that it's a good thing I am not disabled with a real emergency. Again, no acknowledgment. At one point she rolled her eyes. I don't get the hate for this CVS--it's my go-to spot! Sure, the area isn't winning any charm awards, and the parking lot has some "character" (read: a little sketchy), but the store itself? Totally solid. They always have what I need, and with the order-ahead option, it's a breeze. My orders are always ready quickly, and checkout is smooth sailing. One time, I accidentally ordered something twice (classic me), and the guy at the register was super helpful in fixing it. Shoutout to the staff for being friendly and on it. Worst location in Santa Cruz, and that's a low bar. Told me two days in a row an RX would be ready for pick up. Both days they had excuses. Second attempt to pick up, the pharmacist said they didn't have it in stock. When I challenged that I got a message it was ready, the manager said all the sudden they didn't have it, but I'd have to wait 15 minutes to pick up. Disrespectful and incompetent. Joe K needed some razor blades to keep his reemerging beard trimmed after a long course of chemotherapy. We also bought some bottled water to help keep his daily medications consistent. I'm a loyal CVS Pharmacy shopper with my "Extra Care" card always close at hand. This store was typical of other CVS's that I have patronized, so finding the products I use most often made shopping quick and easy. One of the worst pharmacies I have ever been affiliated with in 35 years. They refused to fill my patient's medication and told her. they had contacted me. They had not. So I called them. After pressing. the correct number for physician, they kept me on hold for over 15 minutes before I just hung up. I don't have a spare 15 minutes to do nothing like this! Don't get me wrong, this place is awesome. They always have great prices, it's easy to find what you're looking for here, but some of the staff are rude, to say the least. I dress pretty.. "not normal", and i've seen SO many employees side-eye me or do that rude up-and-down stare in disgust thing or just treat me like I'm not human. My mom is a regular here at this store and so am i. The Night manager Nyle is always under the influence of alcohol and me and my mother have been aware of his obvious addiction aswell as other customers that have been in the store and seen his behavior. Last night Nyle completly ran into my mom and tumbled all over the floor tripping over himself even more with other customers watching nearby with their faces very ecstatic about what had happened. I would understand if they were temporarily unable to, however they also have issues with their cashiers check system. They are unreliable, and the pharmacies have been unreliable and so this is why I am now after about a year of considering bad service; leaving this review. CVS Pharmacy on Mission St is the absolute worst. They have such a high turnover on personnel. I get an automated call from CVS telling me my prescription is ready to be picked up. When I drive down, they have no clue what I'm talking about. According to them the automated calls are not initiated by them. Another example, CVS automated calls my medication is ready, going down there I'm told they're out of the first prescription, have to order it and the 3rd one they're still working on it. Now the prescription was called in by my doctor 2 days ago. I walk away with one of the three. Yeepee. So much incompetence is upsetting. read more

Doctor called in prescription. CVS called me every day with voicemail saying pick it up. I went to pick it up and they said it was not available. I talked to pharmacy said it would be there the next day. Went the next day I was told it is still not available. This is an easily obtainable generic medication. Service is horrible. read more

I come in here almost every day and find what I need quite easily. Staff in the pharmacy are particularly excellent and helpful. But just this week, I wanted to buy some household stuff and took my items to the cashier in front (Barbara) who asked me "CVS card or phone number?".....I gave her the phone number and then she snapped back "it doesn't work", so I politely repeated the number and asked her to enter it again. "I can try but it still won't work" she said, obviously getting frustrated/angry. I leaned over to check the numbers that she was entering and one digit was incorrect (a 3 instead of a 7).....when I pointed this out she shouted "that's not what you told me before!". Very loudly. this is still bugging me after 3days, so would like to record my experience. read more

Something about this parking lot , puts me on edge . While I have never actually been assaulted, everything tells me to watch my back & my bags ! And lock my car ! Shady characters and pan handlers are always loitering,and no security in sight. They do have a Wells Fargo ATM in the parking lot .There's a rarely seen coin-op water refill machine in front,& a (nearly extinct) coin-operated pay phone. Cost 50cents a call,if you were wondering. When you go inside,the register area is usually either deserted ,or swamped with customers ,so Forget asking for help or direction. Aisles are tidy and well-stocked,the only reason for a second star. Any day or hour you will see a huge line and raised voices in the pharmacy . If you are from out of town , you may notice that paper towels that are $1 in other towns are more like $2-2.50 here . Dish soap -- same thing , no $.99cent choice here ! While I realize this CVS does not claim to be a "bargin store"-- I feel that this particular CVS , compared to others I have been to,takes advantage of their location . Because there is no discount store in the area,,, they inflate the price of basic household goods. In other words , if there was a Dollar General or 99cent store in the neighborhood,, they would respond with better pricing . But since there is no Walmart in the area, they get away with charging $2.50 (minimum)for 4rolls of toilet paper ! I think they really gouge people on pricing because so many people who use this store do not own cars ! read more

HORRIBLE CVS waste of time. Went with a couple of friends and THEY were buying beer, and it was requested to check everyone's IDs. Can someone tell me WHY? I understand that's a policy going to a store selling just alcoholic drinks. But this was a drugstore where my part of the purchase was chips and eyedrops. I rarely go to this location anymore since I live near downtown. I have found the customer service here to be inconsistent, hence three stars. I can't give it two because they do keep the store clean and you can find whatever you need in the store. However, I am big on professionalism and customer service.... so this is my little story *ahem* Yesterday I went in here because I had to drop off some DVDs at blockbuster. I got what I needed and went to the check out. "Perky" register gal is "greeting everyone with a smile" and "doing what she is supposed to just in case one of us is a secret shopper." She has her cute training badge on, big smile etc etc. The manager comes over in order to approve an alcohol purchase at the register..... as the register gal is trying to take off the alcohol sensor without looking like an idiot in front of her manager...in walks a fellow employee.... "He's late," she "whispers" to the manager.. but it is loud enough for me (next in line chillin' near the magazines) to hear.... a recap and my personal thoughts 1) I don't know where you come from... but we have a saying "snitches get stitches" 2) He wasn't late-- you read the schedule wrong and then in front of four customers and your swing manager you had a "light but tense" confrontation with another employee (he was 8 minutes early) 3) It is not appropriate to talk about that kind of thing in front of customers if you feel like there is a personnel issue-- disclose that in private 4) You were so flustered you didn't "Greet me, ask how I was doing or ask my method of payment" when I asked for my receipt "on me" you put it in the bag. There are no eye contact and you rushed me along -- I WAS A SECRET SHOPPER (just kidding.. but wouldn't that have sucked if I was??) 5) that is not the way to score "brownie points." If you are a new employee do your job well, cut the crap, make some acquaintances who can show you the ropes and be a team player. I got sick and had to go to the ER and they sent my prescription to this pharmacy l, I got there at 8:15pm and waited in line for 30 minutes because theirs not enough employees working there, when I finally got to the front of the line I had some rude blonde women tell me she can't give me my prescription because it's after 8:30. I told her I've been here since 8:15 and it's not my fault you don't have enough staff, she didn't care at all and would not give me my medication and I ended up going back to the ER due to my pain and not receiving my prescription. read more

Seldom have I interacted with less helpful individuals over the span of the last year. The employees are not friendly, and no one is willing to go above and beyond to see that you get the customer service that you expect from one of the largest chain pharmacies in the US. The rate of new employees is astounding, so no one ever starts with a good base of knowledge or ability to help. They ask the same questions and never fulfill the personalized experience that every consumer now sees as the new norm. They even ask the same questions even though you just answered it with the last person 1 minute ago. The service is slow and the people are bottom of the barrel in terms of friendly demeanor. Here's an idea! Let's get another more competent pharmacy in town to service our community. The pharmacist Breanna refused to let me ask my questions and was visibly irritated because they knew that my prescription was for an animal, and after I said that I did not appreciate that sentiment, she later retorted that she was a pharmacist for people and not animals. I am a paying customer just like everyone else and the fact that they were behind on filling prescriptions is not an excuse to treat me with any less respect. Really terrible management perhaps? Called to CVS today, was unable to get through. I called until I was able to. When someone finally picked up on the 5th call, she said "Our pharmacy's power is out. Call back in one hour." And she HUNG UP ON ME. I called right back, as clearly their power was on or she would not have been able to answer. The same woman picked up and said in a very angry tone, "The pharmacy is closed. Our power is out." Before she could hung up on me, I said "How are you talking to me then? And you just hung up on me. That is very unprofessional." The woman then began to SCREAM at me, "Ma'am I am the pharmacy manager! We are closed." Well this woman has 0 customer service skills and I don't give a crap if she is the manager or the janitor, it is never okay to hang up on a customer, let alone scream at them. Today, we needed an assortment of party supplies, toiletries, soft drinks, etc. so I headed to CVS at 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon, not exactly prime time. There were no shopping carts outside the store, so I looked inside, but saw none. There were probably twelve customers in the store, and nine of them were in line at the pharmacy. I only saw two customers with shopping carts. When I asked the clerk where they were, he replied, "They always get stolen." I saw another employee at the back of the store who said the same thing. I bought only what I could carry and told the man at the checkout that I wouldn't return. How do they expect to do any business without carts? There were no baskets either. Other stores have figured out how not to have their shopping carts stolen, so why can't CVS? read more

This is the best CVS in Santa Cruz. Not only do they have a great selection of items, the store is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I'm also especially grateful for the manager Fernando who has cleaned up the parking lot situation and clearly takes pride in making sure his customers not only feel welcome but safe. I can personally speak to this as a female shopper, thanks to Fernando I can once again feel safe and secure parking and shopping at our West Side CVS. As a matter of fact, I pick up everything from grocery items to my favorite skin cleanser in one stop! We need more managers like Fernando in Santa Cruz county! read more

Had trouble finding certain medications in their aisles and the pharmacy staff actually came out to show me to the exact spot where it was located! Front staff is welcoming and patient too. DOLORES, who works at the pharmacy, tonight I uncomfortably witnessed her yelling loudly at a Hispanic man for no reason. I'm not mistaken about what I saw. I felt really bad for him and I was so shocked that I am leaving my first yelp review. She looked insane and hateful as she yelled at him to sign and press okay multiple times before he could even start doing it. Multiple times I've had prescriptions called in ahead of time and show up several hours later to find out they haven't even filled it and I am stuck waiting for what they say will be "ten minutes" but really it's always 20-45 min. Most recently the gal said she'd rush it as my daughter was hurting and in tears only to have a gentleman come in after I've been waiting for 15 minutes, drop his refill, get back in the payment line and leave before mine was ever filled! Meh. I've experienced better. The store was a little hard to navigate, and the staff was a little on the annoying side. However, the store was fairly clean, especially for being in Santa Cruz, which always seems to make things a little bit dirty. Also, the have a great selection of beer with a bunch of different micro brew options in 24 oz bottles. I also really liked how they had a sign that directed me to the bathroom. I work for instacart and I walked in and couldn't find not one basket not even a handbasket and when I ask somebody at the counter they just said they don't have anything without looking. So I went to go find the items the customer had ordered and half the things they ordered wasn't in stock then I needed an electronic from the lock box and couldn't find not one employee on the floor to help me so I ended up having to refund to the customer at the items that they ordered. When I finally went to the counter to pay for the items in the receipt printed it wasn't legible and I have to scan a receipt in for instacart review and asked if he could print another one and he refused, definitely going to be rejecting orders for that CVS or shop at a different location. read more
