They are renovating they say. But long standing trash litters the entrance, drink cup on the entrance railing...I thought they were closed. I side I was shocked to see freezers STILL with iced-over ice cream inside, not discarded, from when freezers broke down years ago. What the heck. So easy to toss. What an eye sorry and sickening to see. I have to drive to get anything frozen. This is the closest thing to a market in the area. Many new apartment building and we have a poorly maintained CVS by Guillermo who I was told is the Main Manager. This CVS should be torn down and replaced with new. read more

This is solely for the pharmacy department! Pharmacy needs big improvement. Today in the pharmacy 9/9/25 Mario was very rude. After waiting 15 minutes in line for my prescriptions he refused to ring me up for an additional item. He lied and said "it's store policy to not ring people up" and that I had to go to the front registers and wait in like again. Even though I conformed with management and it's not store policy. It makes no sense to have people wait in line twice, especially when many of us that come to the pharmacy are ill or recovering from surgeries to pick up our medications, and it is difficult and painful to get around. He was obviously having a bad day but it was still unprofessional and unnecessary, and a lie. read more

I've been using this CVS for 2 years and they have been wonderful! Always timely with my prescriptions which is great as I don't have a car and they are walking distance from my house. The pharmacists and employees are A++! However, they just told me that because my doctor is not located in SD County, they can't fill my prescription! Now I need to choose between my doctor and my pharmacy which is outrageous. I choose CVS because they don't treat me like a drug addict just because I've been on ADHD medication since my teenage years. CVS has always treated me with respect...till now. What I love about CVS has been taken away by ONLY THIS LOCATION (the manager made the decision on this policy change). How can a manager make a policy change that so substantially impacts the health of community members like myself who have relied on CVS for so many years?! That question will likely be litigated in the years to come, but I am so sad to be leaving the wonderful pharmacists and employees that make this CVS special. CVS, you rock, and I beg of you, don't make your customers choose between the doctors that treat them and the pharmacy they love! read more

Their customer service is terrible. You can't get a human being on the telephone, and they think you can run a business using computers. If a human being isn't answering the telephone than they don't care about customer service. I am a retired toxicologist. They once handed me a bag full of hydrocodone, in 2 different dosages, and another for oxycodone. Clearly the pharmacist wasn't reviewing the prescriptions because I use the UCSD specialty pharmacy for my oxycodone prescription, and I have no prescription for hydrocodone. I immediately asked to speak to the pharmacist. I told her I was the director of a toxicology lab so she would know I knew how serious this error was, and I also knew she wasn't doing her job. You can't run a pharmacy like a factory with no quality control. Either hire more staff and do it right, or shut it down before you harm someone. 12 people waiting in line to fill a prescription is unacceptable. If you must close down for lunch, you are under-staffed. This is a profession that requires attention to detail. They don't run it that way. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The pharmacy manager was rude and racist. She is an Asian woman between the age of 25 and 35 who refused to give my cousin pain meds for a broken knee. The emergency room doctor wrote the prescription and the emergency room also sent it over directly. The ER also referred my cousin to an orthopedic surgeon the same week. The prescription was for 8 pills. I told the pharmacy manager (who also is a pharmacist) that there is a disparity in the quality of care when it pertains to Black patients. Blacks patients have longer wait times or denied treatment. In some cases access to certain medications are limited to/ or denied due to the color of our skin. She then laughed in my face and said that that is not true. Well I know it's true because I have worked in the medical industry for 20+ years and we have mandatory medical modules that we have to complete annually. Some of those modules are specifically about the disparities in the healthcare system amongst minorities. The fact that we have to be trained to deal with these discriminatory issues is a huge problem. But what's more troubling is the fact that the CVS PHARMACIST LAUGHED ABOUT IT AND WAS IN COMPLETE DENIAL ABOUT THE DISPARITY IN HEALTHCARE AMONGST BLACK PATIENTS. read more

Covid testing is only available by appointment and not available at this location but I need to go to other CVS to find out, most of them were far away and none of them could do rapid testing. Oh geez CVS, you were so helpful. read more

This is the most disorganized pharmacy I have ever encountered. I had a simple Prilosec prescription set up for delivery. I have a Carepass which I pay for monthly. It's not connected to my phone number but I have the card number. I went round and round with them at least 5 times trying to get my simple free delivery. All for a $10.49 simple prescription that I ALREADY paid for on the app. They almost charged me for the prescription plus delivery AGAIN! Ridiculous. It's not the first time I've gotten the runaround at this pharmacy. Incredibly disappointing. Their management team needs to get it together. I'll be going elsewhere and oh I guess I'll be picking up the prescription and wait in the endless line they always seem to have. CVS, you lost a long valued customer. read more

Went to process the photos and someone else started another print job that took forever. Went to pay for the photos and the register wasnt working. I got my second Covid-19 vaccine here yesterday (Moderna) but in the moment I couldn't find the words to adequately express my gratitude towards the pharmacy staff that were administering the shots. So I'll give it a try now in the hopes you read this. You are saving lives everyday and you should be so proud of yourselves. You are really making a concrete difference in the world. I imagine that giving shots all day could be rather repetitive and boring, but I hope you know that I think you are doing heroic work even if it is not glamorous. Last night I was feeling feverish and sick, but I had tears of joy and appreciation knowing that in two weeks I will be safe, that I am doing my part to protect the whole community, and that I will soon have improved mental health from being able to resume some normal activities without fear. Don't ever stop to shop here especially if you are stopping by from a long drive. Came to shop for groceries and essentials for vacation. While shopping , I had to use the restroom. I went to the restroom and saw someone just left and I had to use a code to get in. I went to the front desk and asked a staff for the code. They wouldn't give it to me and told me it's out of order. They directed me to smart and final next door. As soon as I went to smart and final store, they said the same thing; out of order. I told the cashier where the employees go to the restroom because it seems cvs and their store have restrooms that are out of order. I told her that I'm from out of town and don't know where to go in the area; just stopping by to get some essentials. She finally allowed me to use the restroom. I regretted shopping at CVS; they don't treat their customers right. I don't want to use public restrooms but when nature calls, I have no control. So embarrassing that I'm shopping at CVS and I have to go door to door asking to use their restroom. I shopped at CVS but I have to go to smart and final to use the restroom. Bad service. I wouldn't recommend this CVS branch. Tough luck if you need to use the restroom. read more

Here's my comprehensive review of the CVS store on El Cajon Blvd. Read only if you're thinking about going there. PARKING: Ample, but the lot's in a poorly designed "U" shape. A U, one of my least favorite letters! And, they recently put in a paid parking kiosk. The sign (see photo) said, "First 60 Minutes of parking free." Ok. First of all, who's shopping for 60 minutes at CVS? Secondly, if you are in fact shopping for 60 minutes, please buy a NOTEPAD during your visit so that you can write down a shopping list! 0 Stars for Parking. ITEMS: Whenever I go to this CVS, I find many expired items. Not only food items, but medicine and hygiene products have expired. I can't tell you how many times I've walked out of this store let down because of this. What's even worse, I brought this to the attention of someone, and they said "You shouldn't let the expiration date bother you." -1 Star for Items. STAFF: Friendly enough. They're not aching to help you, but if I were working at CVS, I wouldn't have much motivation either. 0 Stars for staff. MANAGEMENT: The people in charge of running this CVS are really who I have a beef with. They seriously need to do an audit. In addition to the expired items, the lines are frequently long, there are repair issues, and there's no reason a store like this should only have two people running things, which was the case today. The lines got so long, a number of people dropped their things and left cursing. In English AND in Spanish. You've got to be a special kind of numbnuts to piss off both demographics. Not to mention, in a neighborhood like this, you don't want to be vulnerable to robberies. -3 Stars for Management. PHOTO DEPARTMENT: They have kiosks for people to print their pictures, which I don't really have an opinion on. I mean, I haven't printed a photo since the series finale of Growing Pains, so, whatever. If you need to do it, it's there. I went to order a CD from them once, and they lost my order. After the cashier asked me to wait, I waited for a half an hour and no one came to help me. (I wouldn't have waited normally, but I wanted to make this Yelp nice and juicy.) -1 Star for Photo Department. THE PHARMACY Finally, one part of this store that doesn't suck. The people at the Pharmacy were friendly, thorough, and competent. I see a correlation between this and them having college degrees. Well done, pharmacists. They even give you a discount if you don't have insurance. +1 Star for the Pharmacy. Not the best neighborhood, this CVS. You should only come here if it's a matter of life and death. Let's just hope you don't get sick with their expired items. EDIT: Happened to go to this CVS recently. For some reason, their sales tax SAID 7.75%, but charged me 8%. I went to urgent care today due to a cough. The doctor prescribed several drugs and I went straight to this CVS Pharmacy to fill the prescription. At 6:30 pm I was told it would take two hours to fill the prescription. I asked to be called as soon as it was ready and I would come and pick it up. I checked the store hours on Yelp and it said they closed at 10:00 pm. Having received no phone call I went back to the store to pick up my drugs at 9:00 pm. The pharmacy was closed. The rest of the store was open. The only reason this store is in business is due to the pharmacy. The rest is just extra. So tonight, I suffer again with my cough with no relief due to the incompetence of the pharmacist. Had I been told they could not fill this prescription today, I would have gone elsewhere. I will NEVER again use this pharmacy. read more

Beware of the pharmacy! They switched my medications to another generic because they didn't have them in stock. I went in to pick them up and the medications were double the price! It would have been nice for them to tell me when they called to get my insurance information. It's a hit or miss for this place but it's generally busy and have a lot of customers all day and night. The average time varies but staff is always ready to assist. May need to increase their number during rush hours to attend to the needs of their patrons faster. Bring your patience with you. read more

Due to the covid testing in the drive thru pharmacy lick up line, you now mist go in to get an RX and expose yourself to everyone else. The pharmacy workers do not wear gloves and do not sanitize the pay machine after it's used. They are also collecting live covid samples just feet from where you get your Ex and inches from where it is stored. I feel safer at the corner liquor store. It's bad here. Nassir is the man! He was so helpful. I had a very specific medication brand I was looking for. Nassir helped me on the phone and when I came in to fill. He was so polite and patient with me. Normally pharmacy technicians aren't ever helpful or nice in other pharmacies. I was blown away with his great customer service and the time he took to help me. JUST GO TO WALGREENS!!!! This location is never open when the website or store location claims!!!! Don't waste ur time!! The doors are closed during business hours or hours advertised. I haven't seen any of the expired products that previous reviewers have mentioned so it looks like the new management has stopped that dead in its tracks (thank goodness).
