My review is solely on the pharmacy, not the store as a whole itself. I came to pick up medication with my grandmother (80) and chose this location because it was close to VCU after her appointment. Thank God I did go with her because if I hadn't I'm sure we would've had a bigger problem. I put the three medication in two days prior to trying to pick it up. I was astonished that it still wasn't ready. When I asked why it wasn't ready the pharmacist laughed and said it was normal for this location. She also stated that they're always at least four days behind. I'm used to CVS calling me if they don't have my medication at a location or if they're backed up. They ask if I'm willing to drive to a different location ( which I am ) Well all that aside now that we were in store they were willing to move her medication up in line and told me it would be a 30 minute wait. I decided to take her home to rest durning this time. Prior to leaving we asked how much it would be and she stated / showed us that it would be $38.00 My grandmother being old fashion gave me two 20s and I dropped her off at home. Fast forward to returning 30 minutes later and somehow the medication has jumped up to over $60.00. She stated that she should not have guessed how much the medication was going to cost. My confusion was (and still is) that she showed it to us in the system and it said $38.00. What made the price almost double? When I asked she just looked at me like a deer in headlights. At this point I didn't feel like getting into it. It's my grandma I'm going to pay whatever I need to pay , and I needed ti get back to her. I didn't necessarily need directions as the doctor had taken the time ti explain what we would be getting. I just needed to know which medication was which. Her reply was "ummmm I'm not sure" and then she proceeded to make an "educational guess". This sent a chill up and down my spine, because my grandmother being the sweet old lady that she is, would've listen to this woman. The PHARMACIST who is guessing!! My grandmother would've taken her medication wrong! Hearing the uncertainty in her voice and blatantly realizing that she was guessing I asked to speak to someone else. She could however could not seem to understand why I wanted to speak to someone else. We just stood there looking at one another for a moment until we were interrupted by another pharmacist. Thankful who knew what she was doing. She took the time to show me which medication was what. Explained to me how it worked and just put me at ease. All in all though I will never trust this pharmacy again. Which really sucks since it's so close. read more

The WORST CVS Pharmacy I have ever had to deal with. The pharmacy team is incredibly rude, you wait in line for 30+ minutes, and they truly have no idea what they are doing. My tiny dog is dying of heart failure and needs meds to keep her alive. One is a cough suppresant (tiny dose for a tiny dog). They denied that they accepted a hand written vet Rx prior to the hand written refill Rx I came in with. They refused to fill it as it wasn't an e-script. Treated me like a drug addict when I asked for one tablet to hold her over until the end of the weekend. Again, they filled my dogs prescription which was hand written last time. This pharmacy clearly doesnt follow laws then. If my dog dies, its on their hands. read more

I am having an incredibly frustrating experience trying to get a prescription filled. I just moved and my previous pharmacy is pretty far from me now, so I had my prescription transferred here. I went in just to see if I could get an estimate for when it would be filled and they informed me it was out of stock at the moment but they would order it, and that it could take a few days to a week at the max but that they would send me a text message when it was ready. All good with me, but after several days of waiting I went back in to check on it, and good thing I did because they then told me they had not in fact ordered it at all. I understand mix ups happen so while I was a little irritated I still decided I would wait another few days to a week. After about a week and a half of no messages, no calls I figured they might have just not alerted me and surely my prescription was just waiting to be picked up, so I went in and was informed yet again that they didn't have it and that no other CVS pharmacies had it in stock either, and that they'd order it. At this point I'm very upset and I have been off of this medication for way too long and I understand that it is not life-saving medication but it should be treated just like anyone else's. I had to rate them a positive 1 because Yelp does not allow a rating of zero or negative stars. Waited in line (of 6 people) to ask about the status of a prescription. After reaching the front of the line, I was told the pharmacy was closed and they could not answer my question because the register computer and they could not look it up. There were 2 different employees at computers that could look it up and a pharmacist there that could look it up. But I was told I would have to go to another CVS to get my question answered because they were closed. I should have gotten there earlier. The gentleman in front of men even said, but he got here before you closed. But, they still insisted that I leave and go to another CVS for the answer. read more

Very unhelpful staff. They did not have my medication after they called to let me know they had my medication and I could come and pick it up. They then informed me that the meds were at another location. When I called that location they did not have the meds but at least they offered to fill them for me. This CVS made no such attempt to be helpful. read more

CVS Pharmacy - Drugstores Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

I chose this location bc it's the closest one to me, but I dread whenever I have to pick up my meds. Most of my meds can't be shipped to me, so I have no option but to go in. The pharmacy is pretty much always severely understaffed, and waiting 15+ minutes in line is usually the minimum, since there's typically only one person on register. There's also rarely enough pharmacists around to answer the phone. I'd like to make it clear that I don't blame the pharmacists, but I blame whoever's in charge for not staffing enough people. read more

First time using this pharmacy for a script that was sent by my doctor; I chose this one because it was most convenient to my location and scheduling. The script was sent on June 20th and was received by 3:03 pm as received from the doctors office (called to confirm). I visited this pharmacy on June 21st to pick up my script and was told there was nothing there for me to pick up. I left with no issue and contacted my doctor today, June 22nd to confirm the script did get sent over, which again, was received on the 20th. I contacted the pharmacy to inquire if by chance they had the script and had mentioned the doctor giving confirmation of receipt and was told by the person over the phone, " as a caveat, that means nothing to me" regarding the confirmation the doctor had mentioned they received from the pharmacy. I usually don't do reviews but I found that inappropriate to say to a customer just wondering where her script is... I understand they're short staffed but things could have gone differently. read more

It's a CVS, they have the usual stuff. This one is right next to the Farm Fresh grocery store which makes it a little more special. Watch yourself when you go in the door, the street people hang out right beside because it's so close to the bus stop. If you get bothered, just go in and tell the Asst Manager/Manager they will run them off. They share the parking lot next to the Farm Fresh and it's a busy place but get there early and you won't mind. read more

TL/DR: save yourself the stress, and DO NOT SEND YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS HERE Worst pharmacy service ever. I had a pharmacy order placed on April 13, with an expected completion of 7:45 that evening. There was no notification or movement on the order for 24 hours, with them pushing the fill time to 4:30 on April 14th. I tried to call the pharmacy with no answer for 20 minutes. I then called back, and drove to the pharmacy while I was on the phone. I hung up once I got to the counter - 15 minutes! When I asked about the status of my meds, I got a passive "well, we are 24 hour behind, and get phone calls all the time." Great. They started my prescriptions and I sat to wait for 30 minutes. While I waited, I found out one of the guys behind the counter normally works at the front. SO MANY OTHER CALLS CAME IN and no one, NOT EVEN THIS GUY, answered the phones. He would rather discuss the rain outside than actually do his job. I'll be changing pharmacy locations. read more

This dumpster fire of a pharmacy is an absolute joke and should be avoided at all costs. The lines are abysmal. The pharmacy techs act miserable and incompetent. None of them seem to know what they are doing and to top it off, they all have terrible attitudes. This isn't McDonald's, people. This is a pharmacy. Unlike screwing up someone's order in the drive thru by forgetting their fries, you are literally putting lives at risk when you mess up an RX order. Do better. And please, PLEASE hire better people. This is the worst pharmacy I've ever been to and that's based on multiple visits for the past year. The staff especially the two pharmacists there are shockingly rude, unhelpful, disinterested and completely unresponsive. The service is slow and unorganized. You don't get the same answer from the different personnel on different visits. I am diabetic that has skipped insulin just so I don't deal with them sometimes or because of misinformation about the availability of my prescriptions. read more

As many have mentioned, always a long line and it moves slow. Don't always have the knowledge to answer or resolve questions or issues. No matter what time I come in, there's always a line. Came to pick up two prescriptions, only one was ready. One in hold, and they were guessing to why, but they were incorrect. So after waiting 30+ to pick up, had to wait for consultation for another 20, for more info, still no real answer, then another 30 minutes or so waiting. I've never seen a pharmacy operate in this manner. Not my choice of pharmacy, unfortunately my insurance forces me to use CVS. read more

First time Richmond visitor, and I missed one of the exits on the highway trying to get to my Air B n B. I drove around for I-don't-know-how-long trying to figure out how to get out of downtown, but got more and more confused an frustrated. It was dark, I was tired, and just wanted to get to my lodging so I could collapse for the night. Kenya took the address of my Air B n B, put it into her phone, and watched as I took down the instructions from the CVS there. I would give no stars if I could. Absolutely horrible. Multiple prescriptions deleted or not filled for several days. No customer service skills or even basic human empathy. They've hung up on me, my partner, and my DOCTOR multiple times! My doctor is making a complaint about this pharmacy because of how not only I was treated, but how she was treated, and how another one of her patient's have been treated. This is unacceptable and outright dangerous. I could actually die from my medication being stopped abruptly. This could absolutely kill someone and would be surprised if it hasn't already. I ended up having to go to the ER to receive my medication. My partner also has ended up at the ER due to this. AVOID AVOID AVOID! read more

Went in person to the pharmacy and waited another hour to fill the script (could have been avoided altogether if they just picked up the phone). Also doesn't help the staff are rude, likely bc they are overworked and understaffed. Definitely switching pharmacies. Would not recommend. read more

I just had a very unpleasant encounter with a pharmacist at this location. I was written 3 prescriptions by my doctor recently and attempted to pick them up on the Saturday after we had met. It is important to note that I did pick up a 90 day supply of one of the medications last month. I explained this to my doctor and had made it very clear I tried to find this supply but I must have misplaced it. Still, he said the medication should still be ready for pickup because he had written a new prescription for it. I arrived to them having 2 of the prescriptions ready, and the other (which I had run out of/misplaced) not ready. I thought they maybe hadn't refilled it yet. Frustrating because I need the medication daily, but I still understood nonetheless. I try checking the status online and it says it's too early to refill, so now I know it's something to do my missing supply. I give them a call and ALL I asked the pharmacist to do was to check if I had any prescription ready and BRIEFLY explained the situation. No loud voice, no attitude, etc. She gave me the same answer (again, not shocked or mad at this moment because she didn't cause the issue, just asking a simple question). I then tell her that that I appreciated her checking and that I will call my doctor to explain the situation and get it worked out. Before I could even utter another word, this pharmacist started speaking over me, questioning why I was calling my doctor, speaking over me with an attitude and kept reiterating she could not help me. I did not ask for any further help. I simply asked you to check if there was a prescription ready, not sure why I was talked to in the way that I was. Honestly if she had just checked for me and left it at that, I would've been fine bc I know sometimes these things are out of their control. But since the pharmacist had such a horrible attitude, slim patience and was actively trying to talk over me and not listen to what I had to say about my own prescription and situations regarding my prescription, I went ahead and told my doctor to move my prescriptions to another store where I'm not verbally harassed over my own medication. This is not the first issue I've had with my prescriptions with them either. Please go to another pharmacy in the area, the customer service here is abysmal and I honestly felt degraded after speaking to her. One of the worst customer service experiences I've had. read more

Like most downtown convenience stores like CVS (Duane Reed, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Longs Drugs, Pathmark and USA Drug) this is tiny, but stocked with most everything you'll need as far as dry goods. I found the prices on snack's to be more competitive than 7-11 just half a block away and only found that out after I'd gone to 7-11 three times that week. I never understood the carpet flooring, maybe because it always seemed unsanitary unlike tile or linoleum which you mop and sanitize. Rather than pay $5.99 for a 1.5 liter water at my hotel I got 2 1 liter's of water for less than half that along with some snacks so I didn't have to put things to my room. Re-up on some gold bond for the muggy summer. Most every convenience store could use a national rebranding makeover to keep it from giving people the pharmacy sick notion unwilling to buy certain things there. read more

Pretty good selection of almost anything. I love cleaning out their stock of butter free popcorn. It's a busy location so prepare to wait in line. Customer service for the most part is usually fair-good. The only time I've felt a little uncomfortable is in pharmacy which thankfully I haven't needed too often. read more

I took my daughter to the ER for a rabbit bite. ER prescribed two medications- one for infection and the other for bacteria from the rabbit. The pharmacist said both werent necessary as one of the meds did what both of them combined did. So they faxed the ER and when they didn't reply they called, Dr said to fill both. Pharmacist said ok and hung up. Then they decided DR didn't know what they were talking about and they needed to call AGAIN 30 seconds later for further clarification. They told me it would be a 5 min wait so I walked around with my child then went back into the line 10 mins later. When I reach the front of the line the lady told me they hadn't replied to the fax yet and I'd have to go home (30 mins away) and wait. I said "well why didn't somebody ask the question while they were on the phone with the DR" pharmacist got an attitude with me and said "well you can say me. I'm the one that called in front of you, say me" I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. DISGUSTING!!! read more

I've been to the pharmacy a few times with unprofessional service, which has already been mentioned in the reviews. I've even had a person who game me a shot who was rude and just jabed the needle into my arm. Today I spoke with a pharmacist or staff, who couldn't comprehend the process I went through on Caremark to cvs as if she doesn't know how the websites works. However she wanted to tell you that you were wrong, even though you're going through the process again while on the phone with her. read more

I recently had an insurance lapse for my insulin and i would have had to go without my insulin for a couple days if it weren't for the help of one of the people working here! This CVS Pharmacy is very convenient if you live in the Shokoe Bottom area. This pharmacy usually stays busy. The pharmacy is fully staffed but the service is slow. If you put in a persrciption, spare yourself a lot of time. The wait times can be very long. It's best to call your prescription in ahead of time. The employees are friendly. read more

If you are looking for the kind of CVS that carries everything and then some, this is not the location for you. This location is more of a satellite store, with a few basic items and just enough space in the aisles for a few passerbyers to wander while waiting for perscriptions. The Pharmacy staff have been super friendly to me each time I have gone in and I have been able to get my basic needs here - meds, basic beauty products, etc. However, if you really want a better selection and are in the area, continue on down the road to the CVS in Shockoe Bottom- as they have far more in their store than this one does. The downside to this particular location is they have strange hours- and many times I have been in need of an item and had to go elsewhere since they were closed. I have also noticed the prices at this store seem to be a bit steeper than the other locations -as it seems to be more of a convience tax on those working in the finacial district coming in for a quick stop. read more

I have been sorely let down by this CVS compared to other locations I have been to. First off it is slightly dingy inside, and the stores organization (or lack there of) makes it hard to find items. I have tried to fill prescriptions at this location multiple times, each time I wait 40+ minutes just to get to the front of the line. I understand it is very busy business, but I go out I go to pick up my medicine they tell me to come back the next day or my way to a different CVS or to McGuire Pharmacy. read more

This particular drug store will not honir sale prices. A sale price will be placed on the shelf under an item, but, when it is time to be checked out, the original price is charged, not the sale price. Upon showing the clerk how the item is represented with the sale price, excuses are made, in order to collect the higher price. From reading the reviews, I think people might be confused as to which location this actually is. This CVS is located beside of Farm Fresh and is a standalone location in Shockoe Bottom as opposed to the smaller location downtown next to 7-11 in the financial district. This CVS location is an average sized CVS. I've only seen a couple with more square footage but the inventory is much the same. This is where I fill my prescriptions or at least try to fill my prescriptions because it is convenient to where I live. Sometimes they have my medication and sometimes they do not, which is annoying considering that it is nothing special. The people who work in the pharmacy are very friendly and the store employees always ask me if I need help finding things. There's only one store employee who gets on my nerves because she is crass, but other than that and the pharmacy problems, I like the location. Good go to in Shockoe Bottom for snacks, cosmetics, hygiene products, medicine, and all other pharmacy needs. If another CVS has it, then this location will likely have it. read more
