Pictured here is an attempt to speak with a pharmacy technician

From 'Seinfeld', Season 3, Episode 11: Jerry : I don't understand. Do you have my reservation? Rental Car Agent : We have your reservation, we just ran out of cars. Jerry : But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation. Rental Car Agent : I think I know why we have reservations. Jerry : I don't think you do. You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them. Replace "car" with "flu vaccination" and "rental car agent" with "pharmacy technician" and you basically have the same conversation I had this morning concerning a reservation I made to receive my flu vaccination. It doesn't pay to plan ahead responsibly, apparently, but they also don't accept walk-ins. I would love to know the magic window that ensures you are actually able to receive a vaccine. This locations has plenty of other problems, but this one right here broke me. Perhaps the exchange wouldn't have felt so egregiously mind-numbing had the tech acknowledged the sheer absurdity of the process, or lack thereof. Instead, they doubled down and had the audacity to cop an attitude when I questioned the illogical procedure. Perhaps worst of all, I'm immunocompromised and I had made this reservation in advance of a trip; now, I will have to scramble to find another vaccine or put myself at risk. If you are fortunate enough to live closer to a better drug store, I envy you.

This is a picture showing that the business is still locked as of 7:21 AM

It is 7:20 am and the store is not open as posted on the sign, furthermore the employee saw me knock on the front door and continue to ignore me.

They carry my favorite ginger ale in the mini version!

I'm gonna be uprfront: I'm a pre-med student, but I also have a significant fear of actually going…read moreto the doctor because I've had waaaaay too many bad experiences in the past. That being said, I'm always nervous whenever it comes to doctor's visits but NP Aviso and Antonova (as well as MA (I forget her name; a black woman who I see every time [especially if I'm getting my blood taken], if you see this you are absolutely lovely and I apologize for not remembering your name!! You are (again) absolutely lovely and have wonderful venipuncture technique; I never get any bruises or any other side effects whenever you take my blood!!)) have always made me feel so comfortable and heard. Antonova especially was patient with me during a sensitive screening which I appreciate as I felt cared for (I have had experiences with other doctors that made me feel weird/'wrong' for coming to them for my health problems, but she treated it with empathy: exactly as it is, but being sensitive to how the news of these conditions can come across to patients). I appreciate her so much, and it is a treat whenever I come by for any other appointments :) As for the pharmacy, I have limited experiences and limited views. The one experience with "standard" medication I have was pleasant and straightforward--I told my name/gave the required info and got my medication in a straightforward manner which I appreciate. However, when it came to asking about controlled medication to another pharmacist, she was rather snippy and blunt; I don't hold any anger towards her but afterwards I have a difficult journey locating this medication and I wish she would've been kinder with her delivery :(

I recently was traveling between two cities when I got stuck in Philadelphia on a layover and…read morestranded overnight due to flight cancellations. I went into the city to stay at a hotel but with my luggage stuck at the airport and inaccessible, I went in search for a drugstore to get some toiletries and other items once I arrived to the hotel. This CVS Pharmacy was the closest drugstore to the hotel. As I walked to the front entrance, there was a homeless man in front of the entrance where it was awkward to walk around him but I needed to go into the store. I was pleased, however, with the service and the items in stock upon my arrival though. The store looked a bit disheveled where a number of items including deodorant were locked up, and I needed to find an employee to assist me. Once the employee arrived, I was able to ask them where other items I was looking for were located. One item was too large (for only one night), and the employee went into the back to find me a smaller item at a smaller price. Not all employees would have been willing to do so. Ultimately, I found all items I was looking for, which were all everyday items. I encourage everyone to sign up for ExtraCare, which is a free membership and includes sales prices, deals for you, 2% back in ExtraBucks rewards, a $3 birthday reward, and up to $50 in ExtraBucks rewards at the pharmacy. Then, for $60 per year ($5 per month), you can purchase membership in the ExtraCare+ program, which includes $10 in ExtraBucks rewards per month, free same-day delivery, free shipping, free same-day Rx delivery, 20% off CVS Health brand products, and 24/7 pharmacist help line. Occasionally, there is a $48 discounted annual rate for ExtraCare+ or another promotion. I have heavily used the ExtraCare+ program over the past many years. Also, while the Black Friday CVS deals were incredible a number of years ago, now you can only get good deals but not incredible deals with free items. While I'm a huge fan of CVS in general and the ExtraCare+ program, the stores are hit or miss. If I was stranded in Philadelphia again and in need of a CVS location, I would consider this location though I would be well aware of my surroundings when walking to and from this location.

I grew up visiting Target in the suburbs, so discovering this location in Philadelphia immediately felt familiar. It maintains the brand's accessibility and comfort while smartly adapting to city life. The store is consistently clean, bright, organized, and well-stocked. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grocery selection is genuinely fresh, and the overall experience feels thoughtful and efficient. What Target does especially well is discernment. The product mix feels curated rather than crowded, with a smart balance of affordability, quality, and style across groceries, home goods, essentials, and private-label products. Their app also stands out, particularly the real-time inventory tools that make pickup and delivery seamless. More broadly, Target is one of the few major retailers that has preserved the strengths of brick-and-mortar shopping while still evolving for modern life. I suspect part of that comes from the company's Minnesota roots and the strong Scandinavian influence embedded in the culture there. You can feel it in the stores: clean layouts, restrained design, thoughtful presentation, efficiency paired with warmth, and an emphasis on functionality without sacrificing quality. It stands apart from most big-box retail in America. The Chestnut Street location embodies that philosophy perfectly. Similar to what brands like Barnes & Noble and Bloomingdale's have done with their urban stores, Target has adapted away from oversized suburban formats in certain city environments without sacrificing the core experience. The nearby location by the Barnes Foundation is excellent as well. It's larger than the Chestnut Street store but not a sprawling mega store, making it especially well-suited for city living while still offering a broader inventory and the convenience of free parking. Both locations feel like thoughtful adaptations of the traditional suburban retail model rather than watered-down versions. As parents, we've also been consistently impressed by Target's private-label products. Their diapers, formula, yogurt pouches, peanut butter, dairy products, pasta, and other everyday essentials have all been of excellent quality at prices meaningfully lower than those of many national brands. Target's Philadelphia stores demonstrate how thoughtful, adaptable retail can succeed in urban environments while preserving the core values that built customer loyalty in the first place. Highly recommended!

Their overall low star Yelp rating is appropriate- I will look into an independent pharmacy to no longer patronize CVS at all. I called at 1:14 pm to refill a Rx. The tech said 1 hr. She heard my disappointment & asked if I was already there . I stated I was a a couple blocks away, she said to come in 20 minutes. The call lasted 4 minutes, so she said this at approximately 1:18 pm. thus summoning me at 1:38 pm. At 1:40 pm, I arrived to a closed pharmacy gate & a sign noted they close 130 - 2 pm for a break. After waiting a few minutes, I asked the pharmacist about my Rx, I said I was told to pick it up now. She replied, incredulously, they're on break, etc. "We're 12 minutes into our break, we open at 2 pm." I relayed my confusion because I was told to come at this time. I asked if she was the person I spoke to, she said no. Then the tech (out of my view) said she told someone that, but that was "a while ago" with an attitude of annoyance in her tone. Umm...it was 20 minutes ago...that's how long ago she said it. I walk away, understandably frustrated. Clearly, the tech didn't realize the time when she told me to come in 20 min, inadvertently, telling me to come when they're closed. An understandable mistake. But instead of owning it, they treat me poorly, as if I am the issue. I'm doing what I was directed to do. This increasingly bothers me as minutes tick by. (To be fair, the pharmacist didn't know I was told this, but her affect was still rude.) I had my wife & kids waiting in the car outside & this will now be about 45 min of them waiting. I buy snacks, take it to them outside & explain the wait. At 1:55 pm I go to the gate & stand to await the opening. Before it does, I hear the tech (still out of view) say to the pharmacist, in a nasty tone, "...& when she called, it was like..." the pharmacist stopped her, looked at me with wide eyes to try to indicate to this poor excuse for an employee to shut up b/c I'm standing there. They didn't know who I was, but they quickly learned who I'm NOT...& that's "the one." I proceeded to read that little girl & the pharmacist for filth. I attached the screenshot of my call. I am also not the silent type, the entire store probably heard me say the only thing they should be offering me is an apology for their mistake, not their attitude. The pharmacist immediately changed her affect, apologized & filled my Rx in 5 min. She was suddenly pleasant as pie, twice as sweet. I know it's hard to find good help, but you lost a years-long customer today.

I explained that CVS had attempted to call the day before Thanksgiving but remained on hold for nearly an hour. The manager responded by saying, "No they weren't, they're lying," which was extremely unprofessional and surprising to hear from someone in a managerial position. I further explained that I had also attempted to call to provide the CVS fax number and experienced a similarly long wait time. The manager then became hostile and accusatory, insisting that I was lying and claiming that he "runs a tight ship" and that no caller has ever waited that long. His combative tone and dismissive behavior were entirely inappropriate. I questioned why he was responding in such a manner and expressed that his conduct lacked the professionalism and decorum expected of a manager. I am relieved to be transferring my prescriptions away from this location and will not be returning. The level of rudeness and unprofessionalism exhibited was unacceptable, and it is clear that additional customer service training is needed.

If I call in a prescription on Saturday or Sunday, the system will tell me that the prescription will be ready after 11 AM on Wednesday. I go in at 4 PM on Wednesday and the prescription has not been filled. Why you ask? Well that's because they never have that medication on hand. Ever. So they tell me they have to order it and to come back on Tuesday of the next week. So I go in on Tuesday of the next week and they say "This prescription has expired and we have to call your doctor to get a refill". Well, my question is why didn't they call that in the week before when they found out???When I tell you this happens every single time, it happens every.single.time. WITHOUT FAIL! They won't even call you to tell you that it's not ready. So you waste your time going out of the way to go get your medicine for nothing. You're better off going to a mom and Pop pharmacy rather than these big box ones that really don't give a crap about you. And that way you also support a local business and mom and Pop shops. Don't bother with Walgreens or any other of the larger pharmacies. For most especially this location.
