I rarely leave one-star reviews, which is why I'm taking the time to write this one. Ironically, most of the employees I interacted with were wonderful. It was my first time seriously couponing, and the staff stocking shelves were incredibly patient helping me locate items. I scanned everything through the CVS app before putting it in my cart to make sure the coupons attached correctly. One employee with bright red lipstick was especially encouraging and genuinely cheered me on while I was figuring everything out. Those interactions made me feel welcome and excited to learn. I will say that I hate how much merchandise is locked up at this location. I understand why stores do it, especially in the city, but needing assistance every time you want a basic item gets frustrating quickly. That said, the employees who helped unlock items were polite and helpful. The real problems started at checkout. I had carefully planned three transactions so I could roll ExtraBucks rewards between purchases. My first transaction should have earned $19 in ExtraBucks, but only $11 appeared. Several digital coupons that showed as attached in the app didn't apply at checkout either. I also had qualifying items for one of the spend-threshold promotions, but the reward never triggered despite the shelf tags clearly advertising it. While I was trying to figure out what happened, another customer standing nearby told me she had experienced similar issues at this same store and had stopped trying to use the promotions because rewards frequently failed to appear in her account. Hearing that made me wonder whether this was a larger problem than simple user error. Then I had an interaction with an employee named Marion that turned an annoying situation into an awful one. I was trying to explain exactly what I had done, including how I scanned every item through the app beforehand to verify the coupons attached. I couldn't get through a complete sentence without being interrupted. Instead of listening, she repeatedly told me I was wrong and insisted ExtraBucks are only issued at the end of the month. This may have been my first time couponing, but it was not my first time shopping at CVS, and I knew that wasn't how ExtraBucks generally work. The conversation got increasingly uncomfortable. At one point she told me to retrieve coupons from the self-checkout receipt bin and repeatedly implied that I was causing problems because I didn't understand the system. What upset me most was the implication that I might be stealing items, despite the fact that I had carefully scanned everything and was actively trying to verify my purchases. It wasn't until I requested a full refund and she scanned every item in my bag against my receipt that the suggestion disappeared. I would never intentionally steal from a store, and being treated as though I might was humiliating. Even at the end of the interaction, the tone remained condescending. I fully understood that returned purchases wouldn't generate ExtraBucks rewards. The issue wasn't that I expected rewards after a refund. The issue was that the advertised rewards and coupons didn't work correctly in the first place. I know retail is difficult. I know coupon transactions can be complicated. I went into the conversation expecting some confusion and maybe even a little frustration while we worked through it. What I didn't expect was to be repeatedly interrupted, talked down to, treated with suspicion, and made to feel like I was wasting everyone's time for asking reasonable questions. The kind employees on the sales floor deserve recognition because they were genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the checkout experience completely overshadowed that goodwill. Went to the minute clinic without an appointment and was seen within 10 minutes for my health screening, the nurse I saw was friendly and answered all of my questions. Did not shop at the store, but would highly recommend this minute clinic location for a wellness exam and routine vaccines. read more

The store is dirty, unattended stock carts crowd the aisle, the manager (changes every few weeks) is clueless and unhelpful. The shelves are half empty. Sales in the flyer are not noted on the shelves where the items are. Coupons sent to my phone and supposedly onto my CVS card do not show up when I am making a purchase and will not be honored. I am told to take the time and trouble to call CVS. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the pharmacy put someone else's prescription medicine in a bag with my name on it. Yes, they gave me someone's else's medicine, which thankfully I noticed when I was filling my pill box. When I returned to the store and showed them the (dangerous) problem, they took the bottle (of someone else's medicine) and told me my insurance wouldn't pay for a replacement because I had already picked it up! DO NOT USE THIS CVS PHARMACY!!! They do not answer their phones so the only way to get in contact is to leave a voicemail and hope they call you back(they won't). I had a very common antibiotic prescription ordered on a Thursday night and they sent me a text message saying it wouldn't be available until Monday at 6pm at the earliest. I might as well just DIE and succumb to the infection atp. I had to transfer the prescription to the Walgreens on 245 N Broad and they immediately helped me. Moral of the story is if you need a prescription from here, be prepared to wait 4-5 business days at the earliest. read more

My experience at this CVS today was extraordinary. I used my phone at a self-checkout machine to scan my XtraCard and accidentally left it on the machine. Twenty minutes later, at another store, I realized I didn't have my phone and rushed back to the CVS. Amazingly one of the associates had noticed my phone and safely stored it. When I returned, he asked me to identify it and returned my phone. I was astonished for two reasons. First, the that phone was still there, and second, that the associate (John) would not accept a tip for its return. CVS should be proud to have such an observant and honest employee. Good location in terms of being in stock of most needs but 3 stars for how inconvenient it is to shop here. 1) 90% of my time in the store is pressing a button and waiting for someone to hand me something as invaluable as deodorant 2) Every time I opt for self check out, the bell goes off that I didn't place my item where it's supposed to go and then I end up having to wait for someone to come scan their card 3) The receipt that comes out is the biggest waste of resources that I've ever seen - after all that waiting, the grand finale is waiting for a six foot long receipt to spit out This repeated experience has caused me to move onto the Target next door. I received a text from this CVS Pharmacy at 1:25pm today that my prescription was ready. I showed up 7 minutes later at 1:32pm, and was told by FOUR workers standing there that they are closing for lunch - They were about to shut their window when I showed up. I told them I was in pain and needed my medication, and one woman yells at me, "We need to eat".....prioritizing their needs above my own as a customer. It was highly unprofessional, very inappropriate and disrespectful to guilt me about their own needs when I was merely summoned by their notification. As I walked away, they continued to talk about how I did not understand that they were hungry....when I barely even fought back enough to inconvenience them. Who runs this store!? Why are these health care workers not staggering their lunch hour when they are handling such sensitive matters for people?!?! All they had to do was hand me my prescription....the one they JUST filled and sent me a text 7 minute prior to my arrival that it was ready. it would've taken me less time to hand it to me then to complain me about their own needs above mine, when I am in pain. read more

This place makes me want to hurt myself. It's a terrible pharmacy that doesn't cater to people with allergies. I will give kudos to them for implementing a new phone system that allows you to leave a message and receive a call back within one hour. The hour time frame is not always accurate but I have always received a call back. Pharmacy and techs are overwhelmed and understaffed. It makes for a frustrating experience. I have spent hours on the phone trying to ensure my scripts have been filled correctly prior to pick up, only to learn they are not. They need a better system. read more

They are incompetent. My medication has been wrong every time it was refilled. There is no communication on the changes they make to the script. The staff mean, argumentative and disrespectful. A pharmacy representative said to me it was a good thing my mother was not here. When I told her both of my parents were dead she replied that my husband would want to kill himself being married to me. I was then told by the manager I was unprofessional. Yes management told the customer they were unprofessional. We came in here to get photos for a passport renewal and it was a fantastic experience. As soon as we walked in, an employee, Juan, greeted us and led us to the photos section of the store when we asked. There was no line or reservation needed. Juan helped us through the whole process including taking the photos, printing them, cutting them and giving us envelopes to carry the photos so they wouldn't get damaged. Juan was a huge help and we were in and out of the store in 10 minutes with our photos. read more

Anybody can just take them. Replace "car" with "flu vaccination" and "rental car agent" with "pharmacy technician" and you basically have the same conversation I had this morning concerning a reservation I made to receive my flu vaccination. It doesn't pay to plan ahead responsibly, apparently, but they also don't accept walk-ins. I would love to know the magic window that ensures you are actually able to receive a vaccine. This locations has plenty of other problems, but this one right here broke me. Perhaps the exchange wouldn't have felt so egregiously mind-numbing had the tech acknowledged the sheer absurdity of the process, or lack thereof. Instead, they doubled down and had the audacity to cop an attitude when I questioned the illogical procedure. Perhaps worst of all, I'm immunocompromised and I had made this reservation in advance of a trip; now, I will have to scramble to find another vaccine or put myself at risk. If you are fortunate enough to live closer to a better drug store, I envy you. read more

Terrible CVS. Lot's of reasons: Always out of whatever I go in to pick up, doesn't matter what it happens to be. They won't have at least one of the items I'm looking for on a given day. Save yourself the hassle and go to Target across the street. I also hate their self checkout scanners. They only ever have one person at the register, so I always use self checkout if I happen to find anything I need. I always end up having to wait for an employee to punch a code into the machine anyway. Which can take a long time for anyone to come over and assist. All because their machines are totally useless, they just don't work. I had one employee count the items I had in my bag, root around in it- this was during the height of covid, and then she got in my face to tell me I hadn't scanned something that was clearly listed on the register. I am not a thief and took a lot of offense to that. What made me finally decide to post a review was my interaction with the pharmacy staff today. They refused to give me a COVID booster that I had an appointment for. They did the same to the person in line behind me because apparently their store policy is not in line with the CDC guidance they have LISTED on their website. Went here past midnight after a late dinner. The staff and security were nice and helpful. They're open 24 hours compared to the other CVS locations nearby that close at 10 or 11 pm. If you're staying at Sonesta, and forgot to pack something, it's just around the corner about 2 blocks away. I love that they carry my favorite ginger ale, Canada Dry, in the mini cans. I don't think I've seen the minis in Houston except for the other brands like Coke, Sprite, etc. There's an assortment of food/snack packs, but it's pricey. You won't find Philly souvenirs here. I asked about post cards and shot glasses. I'm surprised. Most of the cities I've visited have a mini souvenir section at their CVS. read more

I was hoping this would be a nicer store. considering the location - especially for a quick pick up of sundries. Unfortunately, most of the items were out of stock - and they only had one cashier manning the self-checkout station. He called another person to help with the growing line after 5 minutes ... and asked me to stay put ... in the self checkout line. The new person proceeded to question if I was next in line because another person was in the regular line. It was very uncomfortable, confrontational, and definitely not in the customer service spirit. Shame because I like CVS. read more

I dropped off a prescription and gave them my DoD number so I could use my insurance and they accepted it then when I get there to pick it up later, they say they don't accept TriCare and I'd have to pay $35. Yes, the line gets long, so just use the app and wait for your automated refill ready call. When you see them phone you can wait as long as you like as they are open 24. The pharmacy staff are friendly, courteous and extremely gracious. On occasion some of the staff within the store part are rude, short, and feel put off by questions. We are all entitled to have a bad day but if every time you're with a customer You are miserable, maybe you need to consider a career other than customer service. read more

This branch's on-site pharmacy​ manager is apparently on vacation. The staff told me that before she left, she had not ordered medications, and they had no idea when she would return. The diminutive, middle-aged woman with a weathered face and all-too-bewildered eyes had gone from curious to furious. This place is terrible. Always a long, slow-moving line. And if you go after, say 11pm, and the rent-a-cop is bored, he will literally follow you through the store, glaring at you down every aisle. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. Meanwhile--the front of the store where the cash is is now completely devoid of any "security"... But it is fun to screw around with their heads once you notice this happening--one can get really creative....(smile). But that's for another website... My advice--go a few blocks down to the 24hour Rite Aid on 23rd and Walnut, or if it's open the CVS on Chestnut and 15th-Broad--it's like 2 totally different worlds. Or just for laughs see how many times you can get stalked by the "God complex in uniform". Also, what's up with the Big Brother discount card? I don't want anyone tracking my purchases. But if you demand it, they have to give you the discount even without said card--try it, it's a privacy and security issue: **anyone who gets access to an ExtraCare card number, a cardholder's ZIP code, and the first three letters of their last name could log on to the CVS Web site and request an e-mail containing that cardholder's buying history** Condoms? I'm sorry. I know reviewing a Cvs isn't something very worthwhile, but I felt like this location needed some hatin'. I would like to have a serious conversation with some of the managers of this branch and find out what makes them tick. Why is it that a store with at least 10 cash registers only has 3 open at a time when there is a line out the door? Not only that, but while you are waiting, Tweedle Dee and Dumb are reading WWE magazines in aisle two. On multiple occasions I have wanted to run in and grab gum/drink/etc. but have turned right around when I passed people waiting in line on my way through the door. I have heard the philosophy of "always keep a line," in regards to night clubs and bars, but never thought it applied to pharmacies. read more

I stopped in to pick up a couple items and get a flu shot. My encounter with Sarah in the pharmacy was like I was a complete bother to her...perhaps customer service is not an employee requirement. Sarah asked for my medical card which I didn't have for the shot...I'll pay cash instead.($31.99) Sarah proceeded with her "outgoing personality" directing me to take a seat and someone would call my name with paperwork. I walked toward the seats but they were absolutely disgusting for a store where the public uses this fabric furniture. I waited about 3 minutes and left thinking how filthy the environment is and having a flu shot may not be healthy based on the cleanliness in this CVS. Although I miss the old days when this CVS was a movie theater, this has managed to become my go-to CVS over the years since it opened. This CVS is open 24 hours and is more well stocked than the others in the city. It does get crowded at the pharmacy, so it's best to order or renew a prescription a day ahead of when you plan to pick it up. read more

I've come to love it here. Yes, they are often out of stock, but they receive several daily deliveries and are open 24/7. Come early morning when milk is delivered before they run out in the evenings. Yes, some staff are rude, but you can bypass the checkout counter with the do-it-yourself stations. Purchase a cvs green card for a couple of bucks are reap unlimited rewards ($1 cvs cash back after 4 transactions when you bring your own bag). Follow the weeklies for heavy discounts and sign up for extra care rewards. The quarterly bonuses, frequent 20-30% off coupons, beauty and pharmacy rewards will make the CVS prices a lot more reasonable. read more

This place can be crrrrrazy! In this portion of Center City, it is one of the few places you can buy some national brand items like paper towels, laundrey detergent, candy, even cake mix. And I really appreciate that it is there. There are so many millions of items packed into that store, its nuts. They're not the best at keeping items in stock.. they will sometimes go weeks before they restock a soap that I use which is super frustrating, but I've learned to stock up when they have it. The customer service is hit or miss, but there are some very nice folks there if you find the right ones. And the prices tend to be much higher than what you'd expect to pay out of the city. So, the aisles are cramped, the place is usually quite busy, and there is a chance they don't have the overpriced item you're looking for in stock anyways.. but you might as well pick up some Charmin tp, Ziplocs, Crest toothpaste, Tide detergent, Hallmark cards, BIC pens, Pantene shampoo, and everything else that can't wait til your next trip to the Target in the 'burbs while you're in CVS and its convenient.. Oh! and I almost forgot. Its hard to beat the 24-hour pharmacy! read more
