If you've ever wondered what it feels like to star in a sitcom about a hopelessly dysfunctional pharmacy, look no further. This place is the Olympics of inefficiency--and everyone is going for gold. My wife went in to pick up a prescription today and was immediately instructed to "wait at Drop-Off." Great. Simple enough. Except no one was working Drop-Off. Not a soul. Just an empty chair and a sign that might as well have said, "Good luck, you're on your own." After standing there like a confused extra in a medical drama, she was then told to move to "Consultation" instead. Perfect--except that the Consultation employee had apparently gone on a spiritual journey, because she also wasn't there. Then, like a scene written by someone who hates customers, the Consultation employee magically appears... only to help the guy who was behind my wife. Why? Because apparently chaos is their customer service philosophy. Will not be using this place ever again. read more

Horrendous experiences at this location. Having to keep dealing with their gatekeeper, Valeria, who is abrupt, belligerent, and inflexible. Rather than helping, she takes pride in derailing my needs and causing significant delays in multiple prescriptions. While others are better to deal with, her and the pharmacist, Stacy, do not keep their word and are rude towards customers. As a result I am forced to travel a much longer distance for all my prescriptions since I will not return to this location so long as these people remain employed. read more

Not only are they closed for lunch but they also continue to be short staffed. I don't understand what they could be paying or what the work atmosphere is like that they cannot afford to staff up so we are not always waiting in line, especially during peak periods. He was hovering over us our whole time shopping and was again muttering about how he thought we were going to shoplift. Personally, this feels extremely disrespectful. This is for the pharmacy only. This pharmacy needs to get it together. 1) Your doctor sends in a prescription and you would think they have the prescription filled by the end of the day right? No, not here. They say they didn't get it when the doctors office called it in TWICE. Laziness or just really busy? Who knows. 2) You call in a refill and they tell you your prescription will be filled by 6pm, you show up close to 7 and they still haven't filled it. Not only is it not filled but they convince you that since it'll take time to fill the prescription just buy similar meds for double the quantity and double the price. How does that make sense? I commend the tech for thinking outside the box but no, that's also you guys failing to fill a prescription when you had ample time to do so. Also shame on you for telling us that it would take "some time and they would have to open a big bottle" so it's better to just buy the other meds. My husband has already changed his prescriptions to go elsewhere and so will I. read more

No issues with the pharmacy. But the woman who monitors the self checkout is a nightmare. I frequently use this location because of the close distance & I use the pharmacy, but no matter what time of day, this woman is constantly following around the store. And when it's time to check out, she stands directly behind you to monitor. I understand loss prevention is her responsibility, but she is so rude and bossy. I was trying to scan my coupons and she continued to tell me that I need to tear them each apart, and that I'm not doing it fast enough. She was clearly irritated. I always give people the benefit of the doubt that they may be having a bad day, but it is EVERY time I stop in there. read more

The pharmacist (Stacey) was rude and became upset when I clearly did not know her job. I Just spent $800 on meds to pay for that experience. I was there on behalf of someone else. This is my favorite CVS, they have so many different products and are almost always fully stocked, they are open till midnight (which I really appreciate) and employees are very nice and helpful. I have never been to the pharmacy though, just the actual store. read more

Unfortunately, I never have good experiences here, especially in the pharmacy. All the pharmacists are very young and don't ever seem to care about the people they are serving. Other pharmacies (even other CVS locations) make sure to ask if you have any questions about a prescription. I believe it's actually the law to ask if you have questions about a new prescription, but it's a nice courtesy either way that they do not do. They always act like their in a rush and annoyed by your presence. One woman in particular makes it her duty to ask as many security questions as possible. "Last name?" "Home address?" "Phone number" "Prescribing physician?" I realize they don't want to give someone the wrong prescription (someone could be getting high off my thyroid medication!!!!), but I should have a little bit of privacy and not have to announce all of my personal details to the people in line behind me. I wish there was any alternative to this place, but there are no local pharmacies that I know of and only other CVS locations in the vicinity. If there were an alternative, I'd tell people to go there. read more

AOK and then some! This isn't my favorite CVS (that's reserved for the South Lakes location with their amazing pharmacy--Lisa, you're still the best!), but it ranks highly among other options in the area. What's great: weekly deals on OTC, a pretty decent store-brand, easy flu shot, and the flexible reward CVS dollars you can spend on anything not regulated by ATF :-). This location has a Pentagon Federal Credit Union ATM which is tres tres convenient and charges no fee for withdrawal customers. Day after 50% off holiday sales. What's just so-so: pharmacy isn't bad but just staff is just not personable and do not come around the counter if you ask for a recommendation for OTC products like they do at other locations. I'm sure they fill the prescriptions just as written but I have never experienced one of the staff at this location inquiring about other prescriptions to rule out possible interactions and such. All in all, a fantastic, reasonably-priced quick-stop for whatnots I forget to pick up from the grocer. read more

Cvs staff are a bunch of incompetents, they refused to sell me Advil Cold because something was wrong with the system, as well the manager and pharmacy staff made the minimum of effort to resolve the issue ( looks like the store runs by high schoolers) and not adults, Also the manager stated is police fault the system was down, so please let us know if we the customer need to stop by the police station and buy the advil cold or other medicine is not out the counter. Please hire adults and proactive no a bunch of starburcks latte kids they don't know how to solve little problems as restore the system By the way is not the police who gave the approval is DEA, next time CVS staff educate yourselves read more

Don't even bother trying to get photos here. Tried to order Christmas cards bc this was the closest CVS to my house in Reston that would print them for same day pickup, and after five days and two mis-prints, I'm just going to have to send out jacked-up cards bc I don't have time to run all over town to another CVS and if they're printer is messed up too...good grief. The back of the cards were off-center and crooked. Woman working behind the counter the first time insisted it was a problem with how the order was submitted. Turns out it was in fact their printer. Lady was clearly having a bad day, but I could've done without the attitude. The employees at this store don't have the ability to problem-solve and need a manager, but I was told to come back after 3 PM when the manager arrived. Seriously? I'm here now, with a baby in tow, and I have to come back to speak to someone who can help? No. Called CVS corporate and got a refund. read more

My family and I use CVS all of the time. We went here recently and had a prescription filled. I had just been diagnosed with the flu and was desperately in need of meds. The pharmacy staff was extremely helpful and understanding of the situation I was in. They were able to get me my meds quickly so I could get home and begin to rest. I had a great experience during my visit and would be more than willing to use them again. I sure do hope Yelp let's my review stay up, as this business definitely deserves it. Hey Yelp it would be great if this business could rate me as an individual. Who knows maybe I wasn't professional in my interactions with them. I preferred not to have the risk of visiting CVS so asked them for expedited delivery at a cost of $8. A lady without a mask delivered the medicine the following day (i.e. quickly) and insisted that I sign her phone for receipt of the medicine. Earlier they had to ask my doctor for permission for a refill and were supposed to mail it but didn't until I called to check again. I would have been better off going to the pharmacy to pick it up- would have been safer. read more

Not sure why people hate this CVS so much. Every time I've been there the staff has been helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Furthermore, they seem to have a better selection of certain products than other CVSes I've been to, like make-up. After holidays, this CVS often has many seasonal food items and decorations on deep discount. The parking lot is a little annoying, but that's just Oakton in general. read more

The people who work in the pharmacy have no problem with lying to their customers. I needed my insurance to approve my prescription and the pharmacist said she called the same day the prescription was received. I called my insurance the day after and they had no record of any such phone call. After two more days of waiting, I called the pharmacy again to ask if they had any luck contacting my insurance. They didn't hesitate to tell me that they had tried and that they would put in another call for me. So by this point, they should have tried contacting the insurance twice. After waiting almost a month for those calls to go through, I decided to go to the pharmacy myself. I approached them with a happy and supportive attitude, but the pharmacists were young, unfriendly snots who never smiled and just wanted to keep the line moving. I explained the past phone conversations to the pharmacist and he promptly looked up my prescription and put in a call to my insurance right there. He then gave me a printed out documentation of when all of the calls were made. And guess what? I was expecting calls recorded from a month ago, but the two recorded calls were from only two days ago and the call he had just made. This is when I got back in the car and let the profanities fly. These people lied without any hint of hesitation. I hate this pharmacy. read more

There were things all over the floor.I tripped over a large bin filled with items, and hurt my leg badly.The supervisor and other employees were standing right there, and refused to help me while I held my leg in pain.When I have repeatedly tried to speak with the manager he has been dismissive, and has refused to give me the name of the district manager. He challenged my veracity until he reviewed tapes, and then admitted what occurred, but refused to be helpful in any respect. read more

I've always had reasons to complain about this pharmacy, be it long lines, rude technicians, slow service and even technicians openly on their cell phones while customers were waiting to be helped. I overlooked these inconveniences until two days ago when they gave me someone else's prescription from a doctor I had never heard of. Luckily it was only allergy pills but this was a potentially dangerous mistake on their part. I went ahead and informed the technician working there and she shooed me off saying they would call me with updates. I then proceeded to tell the manager of the store and he shrugged me off saying that I should it take it up with someone at the pharmacy. The whole situation was very poorly handled. And this was a major HIPAA violation and someone could potentially sue the store for pharmacy malpractice. To make matters worse, the next day I got notified my prescription was ready...and guess what? They had refilled this WRONG prescription once again. Avoid this pharmacy if at all possible. They overwork their employees, do not seem to train them well and have a high turnover rate, aka no one stays there for long. Needless to say, I'm on the lookout for a new pharmacy. read more

They NEVER have my life threatening medications in stock, even when they are told in advance that I need them. Then I have to run all over town to get them in another CVS. They NEVER Apologize, either. They work with medications that can't be interrupted and they don't take this seriously at all. Shockingly inept pharmacists (especially the manager, Stacy). Went in personally on April 6, 2021 to check on the status of my daughter's prescription that she must take every day. It had to be ready to be picked up on April 10th. They confirmed it would be ready. I called on the 10th and the 11th and they said it was not there but ordered. I then walked into the store on April 12th to speak directly with the pharmacist to find out the problem. It was the pharmacist's fault all along.... It was never ordered until the day it was due (April 10th) and they knew that this prescription could only be delivered on a Tuesday (April 13). It was not a problem with the supply chain. The pharmacist failed to order it on time! To make matters WORSE... After I said I would be back on the 13th to pick it up I turned around and said "Do me a favor, could you just look up the order and verify you ordered the correct quantity?" The pharmacist on duty did just that ... and guess what now? The pharmacists who ordered it on the wrong date.. also ordered the WRONG medicine!. She said the one who did this was the Manager of the pharmacy and her name was Stacy. I will be following up with management. Where is the quality control when someone does make a mistake... absolutely none! read more

On the few occasions I've gone to this CVS location, I've never had a problem. The cashiers are normally polite and fast. Today changed that. I had a store coupon that I wanted to use before it expired. At checkout, I plugged in my phone number for my CVS card. The cashier told me I could not use the coupon since it was associated with a different CVS account. I realized I had used my old home number instead of my cell number. I asked if I could put in my cell number instead. The cashier, exasperated, said "No, you can't do anything now! You'd have to void the whole thing!" While I wasn't opposed to voiding the transaction and starting over, the cashier gave the impression that this would be a huge inconvenience for her. Her tone was rude and condescending, as if I had done something wrong. Embarrassed, I put the coupon away and paid full price for my purchase. The coupon provided a small discount, but I'm paying for school and try to be frugal whenever possible. I'm disappointed the cashier couldn't have been more friendly and patient. read more

Location is the best - very convenient, right on Chain Bridge Rd, next to Giant, pet store, starbucks and a bunch of other smaller stores. Very convenient to stop by and get what you need quickly. Although I have seen the prescription line pretty long at popular times, it isn't always like that - just like any other conveniently located CVS, this one is serving quite a densely populated area. I'm the first to blast a place for bad service but am pleasantly surprised how this pharmacy has turned this around! CVS Oakton pharmacy, if you're reading this, keep up the good work and don't rest on your laurels. We need you to be our go-to pharmacy here in Oakton! 4.5 Stars - b/c there's always room for improvement. MAY 2016: UPDATE. The previous team of pharmacists (Steven and Danielle) have departed this location and the level of service has taken a nose dive. I was really excited when my fiance and I moved to Oakton & we had a CVS down the street..mainly because I get my prescriptions here, and my toiletry items..and of course, use my CVS card to get coupons, etc! I have been extremely disappointed the few times I've been in and I won't be going back any longer. The pharmacy staff doesn't really seem to care about you at all (different from other CVS stores I've had experience with), and they are slow, slow, slow. The other employees are just as useless. They don't care, their slow and they make things more complicated than they need to be.. Here's a story... The first time I went here, I had already called in my prescription. A few hours later I received a text saying that it was ready. I couldn't make it to CVS that day and I didn't need my prescription right away, so I waited until the weekend was over to go pick it up. I believe it was a Monday (3 or 4 days since they had texted me) that I went into the store to retrieve my prescription and get a few other items. I was sick at the time and needed to get a cold remedy to make me feel better! So, I go in, and the pharmacy says they don't have my prescription. I calmly told them that I had called it in and received a text that it was ready. After about 5 minutes of the girl looking at her computer, trying to figure out where the prescription was, she asked me when I had received the text. I gave her the date and she told me that if I don't pick it up in a timely manner, after receiving the text, that they take the prescription off the shelf. Now, I have NEVER had this happen to me at any other CVS and have never heard of this policy & certainly wasn't aware of it before this instance. So, the girl told me she'd refill it. Good, so I'd do the rest of my shopping while I was waiting. I started doing my shopping and when I was done, my prescription still wasn't ready and the line for the pharmacy was pretty long. So I decided to check out up at the front and come back to the pharmacy and buy my prescription (silly, I know..but I didn't feel like waiting). While I was shopping for my cold remedy, I found some medicine (can't remember what) that was on sale..it was almost 1/2 the original price, so being the bargain shopper that I am, I decided to get that medicine. It may have been Sudafed or something similar. When I went to the front register to check out, the lady working wasn't friendly and didn't really say too much to me- horrible customer service. When she rang up the medicine, it didn't ring up as 1/2 off the original price. So I mentioned it to her and she told me that if it didn't ring up 1/2 off, then it wasn't 1/2 off. I then proceeded to get very annoyed and told her that she needed to go check the sign under the medicine because the sign definitely said it was 1/2 off. She made me check out (paying full price for the meds). I was livid. After I checked out, she decided to go to the medicine isle and check the price. When she came back, she told me that I had, in fact, been correct. So, she made me return the medicine, she gave me cash back ,then I had to buy the medicine back. It was way more confusing than it should have been! After that instance, I told myself I wouldn't be going there much anymore. I've been a few times since then and have never had a great experience. I would give this a negative star if I could! read more

Run, run as fast as you can....from the pharmacy. The CVS manager is wonderful, but the pharmacy is horrific. Employees and pharmacists are incompetitent and make serious pharmaceutical errors. Five of my family member get scripts from this pharmacy and there are constant mistakes. My doctors will call in orders and the pharmacy will not fill order. I drop off scripts they neglect to fill entire order and do not call to let you know they are out of a particular medication. They will let you know ONLY when you double check order and then ask why is my thyroid medication not ready and then they casually mention they are out and will give me two pills and please come back in two days. This is extremely frustrating as ther is ALWAYS a long line and 15 minute wait. I've received wrong medication in wrong pill bottle too and pharmacy denied it. Spoke to the new head pharmacist the other day and he acknowledged that they know they are incompetitent, but he was condescending and arrogant. He could careless that the pharmacy again messed up an order. Of course he blamed me for the error and only after explaining 3x he was reading the wrong medication on the screen. This pharmacy will KILL someone one day by their lack of knowledge and concern for customers. Giant pharmacy in same shopping center is very good and rarely a line. I plan on switching entire famlies monthly meds to my insurance company, Giant or Rite Aid. read more

This pharmacy actually fills prescription pretty quick compared to the giant next door and other pharmacy around the area. Lines can be long during rush hours but usually diminishes after they call for someone to back them up. All I know is that the more complicated your prescription is (ie. Special order, control meds, special cream) do expect to wait a little if not days for the insurance to go through. Ultimately, I get my allergies meds on time and they usually give me a call when they run out, and I am happy with that. read more

Out of all of the CVS pharamacies I've personally dealt with - this one at Chain Bridge vs the one at 50 and 29, Green Briar in Chantilly and the one on Maple Ave in Vienna - this is by far the best one. Yes - the technicians do seem as they may be overwhelmed at times - however - I've never received the wrong prescpription (as I have at two of the others); I've never had to wait for a prescription to be filled when it was called in or refill ordered via phone. The store itself could use a facelift - it's been there FOREVER but I wouldn't say it's run down nor understaffed - never had to wait more than two transactions to get out the door.Honestly I think a lot of reviewers tend to be self-entitled and really need to get a grip on reality. It's likely the best CVS' in the Vienna/Oakton/Fairfax/Chantillly region. read more
