Hi Yelp friends, Long Beach residents and vacationers. Welcome to the CVS pharmacy located in beautiful Long Beach, Long Island. Hey Mom, we forgot the sunscreen. flip flops, beach umbrella, towel, cold water, cooler. etc. What!? No worries at all, you can easily stock up on these needed items at the friendly convenient CVS. And it's just a block from Long Beach's beaches The more places I shop and frequent, it becomes clearer to me how important good staff/customer relations are to my shopping and buying experiences. I will actually prefer a smaller and sparsely stocked establishment, if I am greeted by smiling and helpful, courteous associates. This has become more and more the standards that I am looking for when spending our hard-earned money. This CVS pharmacy in Long Beach hit home runs on all points. I loved the ample parking available, whether it's in their smallish private lot or in the huge stretch of municipal parking that runs in the middle of the road. Being from Queens, parking is so important to me. It was my first time in this CVS but I was made to feel so welcome. That's the big one for me. I was greeted by several associates who asked me if they could help me find what I needed. I made use of their help and was quickly directed to what I wanted today. I was also greeted by a very pleasant gentleman, a store manager by the name of Adam. Adam was genuinely helpful, friendly and welcoming. What a joy! Lately, I feel that some other local stores I shop in everyday, now take my business for granted. Perhaps through familiarity. No worries folks. I found a spot that's happy for my daily businesses. A place where I could ask for what I need without feeling that I was imposing. I'll be doing more and more shopping and spending here. I guess, rather than the competing place across town that I work right next door to. Yes! I'd rather travel a mile extra and perhaps spend a little more money for my much-needed, good old friendly customer service. Good customer service is rapidly becoming the most important attribute for when I shop, dine and spend. Thanks for making me feel so welcome. I love it, see you tomorrow and everyday. Why ..? Unsure how trained "pharmacists" could be this dumb but they prove me wrong. Had medicine delivered clearly states in big bold letters DO NOT REFRIGERATE what do they do put it in the refrigerator over night. Destroyed the medicine had to wait a week for them to get it again and it's still pending. Sad this place is still open. read more

We literally waited an hour for Augmentin which was called in earlier. When we finally got to the cashier; and asked about the abnormally long wait; the extremely rude cashier said I called your name. As I explained to him, I had not moved from the spot which was about 6 ft from Him. He looked at me and said whatever we're not discussing it. Take your business elsewhere people. read more

Let's start by saying outstanding customer service. Whether it be the pharmacy or the front of the store, the staff is fantastic. Friendly, accommodating, and always willing to stop what they are doing to help. Now some meat and potatoes. John in the pharmacy gets a special shoutout. In the post Sandy days when my house was 4 feet in Atlantic Ocean while my life was floating away including all my prescription meds, John went to bat, actually war with Medco to get me temporary refills. Tirelessly he dealt with them literally over 10 phone calls. The rest of the pharmacy staff also follows his lead in providing great customer service. The front end staff also does a great job and with the self service checkout, I can get in and out in a flash. I would not consider going anywhere else. read more

I stopped in to pick up a few things. About ten items or so. When I got to the register an employee motioned me toward the self check out. I told her I didn't want to use that and proceeded to put my items on the counter at the register. She condescendingly said who do you think is checking you out. At which point I walked out of the store. I'm not working for CVS I was attempting to be a customer. Never again. read more

This pharmacy is a disgrace. I have severe bronchitis and wanted to be sure they had all my meds before I went all the way to the store. I called the pharmacy 3 times and waited on hold 20 minutes each time. I then called the front and the supervisor refused to help. I called the pharmacy again. I was in the store but kept my phone on hold for 45 minutes to show the staff. They basically said too bad. Their policy is to refuse to take calls because they are too busy. During this crazy rush at the pharmacy the manager just left. I am still on line and no, they do not have all my meds. Third world service at premium prices. read more

In person, the staff is helpful! Very busy, but it's a popular pharmacy so the long wait is not the employee's fault. They've always answered all my questions and are very polite. However, I called ahead to make sure they received my daughter's medication and was on hold for 53 minutes before someone picked up only to immediately hang up on me!! I was INFURIATED. I called back and was on hold for another 47 minutes. They picked up and helped me out because there was an issue with insurance coverage which I suspected. The help was great, but to be on hold for almost 2 hours and to get hung up on was absolute blasphemy. Busy or not, the phone shouldn't be on hold for more than 10 minutes. read more

I love CVS. I can easily go into a CVS for an envelope and come out with 74$ worth of candy, gum (I dont chew gum) shampoo, hair ties, makeup and bandaides. Today, I was picking up some prints I sent FROM MY LIVING ROOM ON MY IPAD (I love technology so much I have to yell about it on yelp) and I decided I also needed honey, parchment paper, ginger ale, a dog bone, a bottle of nail polish, and moisturizer for the beefcake. I got them all. Actually, when I was paying, some woman walked up to me and said "soda". I said "what" and she said "SODA" and points to the bottle of ginger ale I was holding. So, I said "I'm not following, what about it?" and she loudly sighs and says "WHERE IS IT" now, generally I appease people in these situations, but cmon woman, don't be rude. So...I responded "Do I look like I f-cking work here? Read the goddamn signs on the aisle". My friend behind the counter tried oh so hard not to laugh...point, Joey G. read more

I love this CVS, but a big reason is because I live in walking distance of this location. I am a big fan of CVS in general - even if you walk out with double of what you intended to buy. So yes, the shelves are fully stocked and this CVS is clean, but my most favorite thing about it is that it ha SELF CHECK OUT. Why? Because it's quick and easy but mainly because I don't have to deal with the staff here. They aren't too quick or helpful and usually act like they are shopping there, too, so why am I asking questions. Here's are 3 examples of CVS experiences specific to this location that I an remember off of the top of my head: 1) After I had a tooth extracted, I was waiting for my meds and was told 15 min...usually they are good about this. While my Novocaine wore off I sat there and watched the pharmacists joking around and chatting away. I asked where the meds were and the pharmacist was very rude (small lady, curly brown hair, glasses)...finally, I yelled in pain and asked wtf was going on and she had my meds in about 30 seconds. She's usually very rude - but it's only this one that is rude (but always there). I suggest going to the pharmacy in the evening because I don't think she works there. The good news is that they now text you when your meds are ready! 2) There's a sign that says they cut keys. I went to get a key cut and the first guy looked like he'd never seen the sign, then the second guy had to check and make sure that they really cut keys. Then a manager came out and said that the only person that could actually cut keys would be in later and could I come back in about 2-3 hours. There was so much confusion that I never went back to get the key cut, I drove to the next town over. 3) I went to return some things with my boyfriend and sent him in without me, not realizing that I paid with CC. The cashier told him she needed the card so he left the items on the counter and then I walked in and said that I was bringing in he CC - there was no one else in the store. She said ok and handed me cash...and then I said, no I'm getting a refund on my CC and she explained that she thought I was someone else and then went and retrieved the returned items. Confusing exchange and I could have walked out with more than I was returning...but it shows the lack of care at this location. Overall, I go here because it's easy....but the place needs improvement or better management. And while they are at it...a bigger parking lot!! read more

This CVS has been transformed after Hurricane Sandy. The store was closed for at least a month, and walking back in today was walking into a brand-new CVS. Clean and bright, with a rebuilt pharmacy area now featuring larger touch-screens for documentation agreement and check-out and an open layout which gives an impression of a larger space. Friendly staff from calling in my refill to the pickup, and a very neighbourly feel. Parking can be a challenge if you decide to try for the lot immediately adjacent to the pharmacy, but this is Long Beach. Just across the street from this CVS are dozens of spots in the public parking lot, and I've never had an issue getting in and out. read more

This pharmacy is very busy. They try to keep up but at times you may have to wait a little for an RX, although you thought it was done. I wouldn't say they were friendly to customers but they do try to be polite. The store appears clean and has self check out as well as one or two regular cashiers. Make up and vitamin prices are rather high though. It's a cute little store that tries to most the most of its space. The store is generally busy as well. read more

If you're looking for a friendly neighborhood pharmacy where you get to know the employees and smile your way through tough times and being sick, don't go to this CVS. As this is my 4th time here, I can assure you, it's my last. Note to CVS-If you sense that your employees don't want to be at work to assist in health and well-being during this horrible crisis, so be it, however, if smiling or being friendly is such a daunting task, perhaps they should take the day off. This is the most "low-vibe" CVS I've ever been to. If anyone in the Long Beach area can recommend a local friendly pharmacy where you don't need anti-depressants before you leave their building, please let me know. read more

This CVS is one of my favorites but I'm only on long beach two to three times a week. The employees are super friendly and helpful. There is always self check out available and someone on the cashier. All the shelfs are fully stocked up The store is clean. The pharmacy section is super clean as well and everything is where it suppose to be. There is always carts or baskets available at the front of the store. They have a large parking lot. This pharmacy needs better management. It is completely unacceptable to have to be on hold waiting for a pharmacist for 10+ minutes every time I call. Hopefully they can figure out how to fill prescriptions correctly so that I no longer need to call. Fingers crossed... read more

This is my go to pharmacy. It is a few doors down from my Dr. and since I need to take a cab I'm glad that I have never really had an awful experience. Today I had camera chips from a 2 week vacation that I needed to burn on to CDs. I had absolutely no idea so a young man who works there, Alphonza, not only helped me out, he pretty much stayed with me most of the time and guided me through what was a rather long process. He was so patient and was able to still help other customers while I was waiting. Unfortunately, his manager Kim was not so patient nor understanding. Barking orders while walking behind a counter and doing other things at someone who has no experience with these machines does not help! I explained I really have no idea what I'm doing but all she said was "It will walk you through all the steps." Luckily, Alphonza stayed with me because there were problems with the next chip! I could not have done this without him and was very grateful for his assistance, understanding and gentle nature. I would also like to give mention to Terry, one of the cashiers. She had one of the rudest, most obnoxious customers and not only did she comport herself in a professional manner, she never stopped smiling and treated the next person in line with respect, warmth and courtesy. She also came to our rescue at the pharmacy counter when the gal behind that register was having problems ringing me up. If not for the manager I would have given this CVS 5 stars. I think it is well run, clean, there are always staff within eye shot so help is readily available and they have an excellent assortment. Considering it's more by necessity than choice I have to say that I lucked out since I have been to other CVS's that were horrendous! read more

Worst pharmacy. Won't answer phone and after my doctor sent the prescription there I still had to wait at the pick up. They run out of thyroid medicine and told me that they'll contact my doctor. I was waiting for a week than when i went there ( they don't answer the phone!) they told me that the medication is on back order!!! And they have attitude! I was getting heart palpitations but they care less. I'm going to Kings pharmacy now! They refill my (backordermaybewewillgetthatmedinayear) thyroid medication in 5 minuets! The one what's on back order at cvs! Kings pharmacy is the best. No attitude no waiting no bs. read more

Since I moved to Long Beach in August 2017 I have been trying to get in touch with this pharmacy. They have not ONCE answered the phone. I've tried calling the store to be transferred to the pharmacy and everyone who answers claims there is no problem with the phones. They then transfer me to the pharmacy and again, no one answers. I've waited on hold for over 20 minutes close to 50 times in the last two years. Its just bizarre. read more

I found this to be a clean, organized, well stocked CVS. The staff was friendly and attentive. Both the greeter and another employee I came across were proactive in making sure I was able to find what I needed. The self checkout, which at some other locations doesn't seen to work well, was very efficient. read more

Don't fill your prescriptions here. I go to dr early every month so my pharmacy has my prescription early. These idiots have had my prescription on hold for 6 days and they call me on the day it should be filled to tell me that they just called to order it and found out it can't be filled for another 4 days. I like CVS pharmacy, especially in this location. The express lanes are very convenient and I usually find what I'm looking for.

Buyer beware that their pricing on none sale items are a total rip-off! Shop and compare and you will be shocked. An example is the shaving cream I use that CVS charges about $8.00 and I buy it on Amazon for less than $6.00. I have seen it in other places much lower than CVS. Used to use their RX department but could not take the lines all the time and out of items very often. Your local pharmacy is much better! read more

Pretty clean organized and efficient CVS. I appreciate every employee asking me if I need help finding something but omg it's overkill. I recently went in to purchase body lotion and was just deciding on brand and no less than 4 people asked me if I needed assistance. By the fourth time, I just wanted to be left alone to pick out my lotion in peace! I've started to dodge workers in the aisles- The "asking to help" is appreciated but officially in overkill mode. read more

This store truly deserves a five-star rating! The Pharmacy deserves a ten-star rating!!!!! The Pharmacy Staff do a TREMENDOUS job at an extremely busy store. I'm not sure why people feel the need to SLAM the Pharmacy staff for "waiting on hold for ten minutes". Perhaps, if the rude customers in the store stopped using the Pharmacy register like a supermarket cashier, the Pharmacy staff could dedicate more of their educated and trained lives filling prescriptions. Simple concept! Sometimes, a PharmD "rings" customers up to reduce the waiting time. (Imagine going to school for 6 years to be a PharmD and A CASHIER???) Customers should be restricted from using the Pharmacy cashier for anything other than prescriptions. It would also help if customers knew how to insert a chip credit/debit card and knew when it was time to remove their card. (I understand the elderly population may be a bit slower, but I'm talking about young, able-bodied people who take a nap when the machine is beeping LOUDLY to remove their card.) And, do not have a conversation on your phone while providing the Pharmacy staff with your name and DOB and, for God's sake, it's not the Pharmacy staff's fault if YOUR doctor didn't call in the script OR if YOUR insurance company doesn't cover the medication!!!!!!! Go see your doctor every 3 months, 6 months, 12 mos. to have your necessary refills on file! Get the necessary refills YOU require- it's not THEIR job!!!!! Until the customers do their due diligence, the Pharmacy staff are in a lose-lose position! read more

Elem in the pharmacy - why not get a job you like? Keep rolling those eyes and being sarcastic and loud with little old men and ladies who have the audacity to ask questions. CVS has gone to great lengths to improve the attitude of the staff but you must have been on vacation that week. Long Beach has Walgreens, Rite aid, Waldbaums, Kings etc There are too many competitors and I will find one where they are pleasant and helpful. I live on the north shore and have always used the Greenlawn CVS which is a model for customer service. My boyfriend lives in Long Beach so I have been using the Long Beach CVS - but no more. Usually I have a great experience with this CVS, it's right down the street from me, but not tonight. I happened to come when the pharmacy was closed (had no idea it closed at 6 on saturday), and even though of course it was my fault, i saw a guy behind the desk doing absolutely nothing. My prescription was already filled, i just had to pay for it. I have never experienced such rudeness and idiocy from an employee. Listen dude, I'm sick, I'm sorry, I messed up, but at least crack a smile. I apologized profusely about 40 times, and by the end, I was like why the HELL am i apologizing to this jerk, there are worse things in life buddy then ringing up someone at the cash register.
