This CVS is known for the negative mental attitudes of the pharmacy. Not just by their customers but by other CVS locations. It may take them 30 minutes to refill a prescription but they will tell you 3 hours. This is the kind of place that if there is a line then the 7 people working in the pill area will not even look up to make eye contact. You better not be a new customer even a CVS customer from another location.They will interegate you and act as if you are a Christian in a Muslim country. Well that line is unfair to the Muslims. I went to this pharmacy twice and will NEVER do it again. The actual store is great and I would patron it again if I was not so frustrated with the terrible pharmacy. Both times I went to this pharmacy I waited for over an hour in 4 or more different lines even after I had called ahead to confirm the prescriptions were ready for pick-up. One would think if you were told on the phone that the prescriptions are ready for pick-up, you'd go to the pick-up line. . . . WRONG. Even worse, if you knew this CVS did not work like that from a previous annoying trip you took to this CVS you'd go to the drop off line first, right? . . . . WRONG. They would refer you from the drop off line to the pick-up line and then just send you right back to the drop off line because they cannot charge your insurance at the pick-up line, which makes me think people having insurance is not a regular occurrence at this CVS pharmacy. Oh and don't even bother with the consultation. Just administer your infant's drugs however you deem is appropriate. You'll be fine as long as you have the Internet. Here are the only reasons why you should go to this pharmacy: 1) You have more than an hour to kill while you or your loved one is sick and you do not mind getting transferred to the end of line after line after line after line. 2) You do not mind being overcharged because the cashier rings you up without asking whether you have insurance. 3) You are fine with getting your prescription filled with product that is not even administrable (no distilled water in the powder drug that is in a bottle and no syringe to be able to give your baby the drug), which means you are fine with paying for drugs you cannot actually use. 4) You are perfectly fine with the pharmacist making you feel like an idiot because you have questions regarding giving the prescribed drug to your baby. 5) You do not care if you have to wait in one more line (which makes 5 or 6 lines total for the event of picking up a prescription) if you need to buy one OTC drug. The pharmacy will not let you purchase the OTC drug when you are paying for your prescriptions. read more

I can never find diet cherry coke, let alone in bulk. This place rocks my socks for selling the stuff that pretty much runs through my blood vessels. 1. 24 hour pharmacy. I never really had to take advantage of it before, but I am eternally grateful that it is there. It is well stocked. The graveyard shift pharmacist is friendly and doesn't ask questions. That's cool. This CVS stocks pretty much everything you need, although might not be the exact brand or type that you are looking for. But as a 24/7 store what more can you ask for? Since I live practically right next to this CVS, I have the luxury of using it as an enlarged convenience store. However, the service here is a hit-or-miss. Since they have limited staff on the floor, it is hard to get a hold of someone and ask for directions for items. But they do have everything, things that you would not expect in a regular drugstore. Some cashiers are also not very nice here. Once I asked for some quarters as change when I was checking out my items. As I reached out both of my hands so the cashier could hand them to me, instead of handing them to me nicely, she just tossed them all at me. Many of the quarters dropped and I had to pick them up one by one. I felt like I was handed the quarters out of her pity. You don't treat any human being like that, and not to mention that I am your customer. But aside from the occasion poor service, this CVS has everything you can ask for in a 24/7 store. read more

Manager(?) lied about the requirements for purchasing alcohol (2 of us are bartenders and know the law for retail). I guess if you spend more than 5 minutes here and don't go about your business with clinical efficiency they decide to treat you like you're delinquents. Update: I still come here since it's so convenient. It is a busy location so I think sometimes they do get overwhelmed and make mistakes, but recently my experience here has been more positive. I have now been on the phone for 30+ minutes to fix a prescription that they screwed up. Should have been double the pills per Dr. instructions than they actually gave me. But I've found that this pharmacy routinely screws up, refills are not ready at the promised time, takes ages to get anyone on the phone and when something goes wrong they always blame insurance or the Dr. and never take any responsibility. Absolutely unbelievably SAD. I am trying to make an appointment and the nurse looks at me and says they are closed - when I point to the posted hours that clearly states they are open. She looks at me and laughs - you need to register on-line and walks back into clinic closing door. I try to register on-line but it is off-line. I called the posted phone number and a recording instructs to register on-line and hangs up. I call the store manager (Dan) who is off and there is no store manager in duty. I came in here over the weekend with my younger brother. I was buying alcohol and cashier asked my younger brother for his ID also. I told her that he's not 21 and she told me I cannot purchase it. I even asked if we show our IDs and we live in the same household can I purchase it. She said no because they have lost their liquor license's before and I should not have walked in with him. I was just shock at how unwillingly she was to even try to accomodate us. I went to another CVS and they let me buy the alcohol with my little brother and did not ask for his ID. What a joke. Nothing special to say except that CVS sells their own oil absorbing sheets for $3.99! Before I could only find Clean and Clear's oil sheets for $4.49 at the cheapest at Target, and even almost six dollars at Wal-Mart. You know how some people feel naked without their phone? Also, the cashier that was helping me was very bossy & making me feel like I can't read when the screens says customer signature I saw but he was rushing me & said can u sign! My friend and I looked for the electronic food scale from World Market, Marshall, Ross....etc, and we couldn't find the food scale! When we were so disappointed, we went to CVS! WE FOUND FOOD SCALE!!!!!! The most exciting thing of the day! They put the food scale at a really random place, but we still found it! The worst Pharmacy in the area. I am coming to this pharmacy for the past two years and getting worse every day. The pharmacy has rude, lazy, incompetent people working there. My last incident was that they are very rude on the phone for refilling a prescription. They have the attitude that somehow we bother them calling them. Asking why my medicine is not auto-refill, in a rude voice she was giving me some bs without listening to my question. I had to be rude as well and hang up the call. I think Pharmacy Management should be fired and bring some friendly and helpful staff. It's not CVS that is the problem but that particular location. I loathe this CVS Pharmacy and recommend that you do not get your prescriptions filled here! Choose another CVS (the one in Bird Rock is much better). After getting my prescriptions filled here for years, I thought that they would be able to easily obtain authorization from my doctor to have my Rx refilled. I was wrong. A couple weeks before I needed my Rx filled, I went in and asked them to get the authorization from my doctor. I was assured that they would take care of this for me. When I showed up to pick up my Rx, it wasn't filled because they needed authorization. WTF, I gave them ample notice. So they called my doctor to get the authorization. While they did that, I also called my doctor to let them know that I was waiting at the pharmacy for authorization. (My doctor called me the next morning and said they gave authorization as soon as CVS called...so why did I wait so long CVS??) I waited for over an hour before I got up to ask for an update. The person helping me had no idea what I was talking about...I mean did the other girl I talked to even call? So I waited another 20 minutes and they finally told me that they received authorization. When I tried to pay, they told me that my insurance didn't cover the Rx because I already had it filled this month. Obviously I didn't if I've been sitting there for 1.5 hours waiting for it! I had some nice words with them and they finally were able to fill my Rx. I also tried updating my last name to my married name at the pharmacy and they said they could only hyphenate it. That's BS because I have since transferred my Rx over to the CVS in Bird Rock and haven't had any problems...they were able to update my last name! Customer service is horrible at this CVS, so stay away if you don't want to deal with the potential of not having your Rx ready, the long lines/wait, and the horrible parking lot. read more

Update: I have learned that the pharmacist filled my prescription incorrectly, without informing me. They changed my medication to one that has been RECALLED by the FDA. I'm not just going to file a complaint with corporate, I am going to find a lawyer and file a police report. It's standard, maybe a little bit cleaner and brighter than other drugstores. I agree with all the others: 24 hours, decent prices, and so on. My only gripe is that I looked for my Sonicare toothbrush replacement, saw that they were out of them on the floor, and asked a very nice employee at the photo booth (no regular employees were on the floor) if they had any in stock in the back. She asked another employee, who basically lied and said they didn't carry replacements for Sonicare. Why lie??? I just saw the tag for them, as well as the replacements for other Sonicare toothbrushes. To end on a ligher note, if you go now, you can get some nice post-holiday chocolates (Dove, Harry & David) for super cheap--about a dollar per package. read more

I would give this CVS 0 stars if I could! I used to regularly bring film to develop, but literally every single time I stand at the photo counter, no one acknowledges me. One time, I even stood behind a girl being helped at the photo counter and I made eye contact with the guy helping her, but after she left he opened up another register instead of helping me. So, I had gotten in the habit of waiting in the line for the register when I need film developed. Last time I did this, when I finally got to the counter and was filling out the photo form, the woman at the register told me to move somewhere else because I was "blocking the line!" A month later I came back to get the developed film, but it was not ready. I called the online photo center who informed me that my film was never received or developed, and it was either lost in the mail or it never left the store. I returned to the store to redeem my lost film receipt for undeveloped film, but the staff would not give it to me because they said they did not know how to deal with the situation. They gave me the contact info of a girl named Roxanne who was the "photo expert who would know what to do": the only helpful person I ever encountered at CVS (she left the store though so there is no one left). After coming into the store a third time, I was finally given the undeveloped film I should have gotten at the beginning. TLDR; Do not trust CVS with your photos because the disgruntled cashiers who need to walk all the way to the photo counter might misplace them and avoid compensating you with undeveloped film promised on the receipt. If you do risk bringing your photos to CVS, keep your receipt until they are developed in case you never get to see your precious memories ever again. read more

Worst Pharmacy. My father has had many issues getting things filled promptly at this location. My partner is the prescribing physician on many of my father's medications. I have seen my partner call in medication, only to go pick them up a day or two later and they claim they have no record. This has happened on numerous occasions with very important medications. It causes a huge headache, and ultimately effects patient care. Additionally, I have seen pill bottles with the wrong prescribing doctor listed.... they are not paying attention. Review for CVS photo- quality of photo books that I ordered was very poor. Photos were glued into a booklet out of order and looked as if they were cut and pasted by an elementary schooler. When I asked for a redo, they told me "there's nothing I can do" and told me to try coming back the next day, with no better results. One star recovered because, if nothing else, they WERE fast. I live nearby this CVS and go there often. The staff up front are friendly and helpful, but the pharmacy is slow and the staff hit-or-miss in terms of professionalism and friendliness. To add on to that, I just recently began getting my Rx from this location. I scheduled a pickup at 5:00 p.m. and arrived at 5:30 p.m. to pick it up. After 5 minutes in line, I was told it still wasn't ready and waited for another 10-15 minutes. I heard my name called and went to the counter and it was the wrong prescription. It was something that I had been prescribed last year, and there were NO refills left on it. Be wary if you get your Rx from here, double check to make sure you were given the correct medication. read more

With the sole exception of prescriptions filled at odd hours (5-6am), I'm generally met with extremely poor customer service and slow fill times at the Pharmacy. I never experience more than a 15 minute fill time at the Rite Aid on Governor for the same medication, which takes 1-2 hours at this CVS any time during the business day. It's totally perplexing. I have returned from time to time due to the convenient proximity to Whole Foods, but I'm going to stop after my most recent particularly poor experience. This store sucks. There is also a strong odor in the soda fridges. It smells like they tried to clean up some mold or fungus with chlorine, but failed to restore the area to normal. It's quite disgusting. read more

The pharmacist Jenny is so abrasive and rude. My wife and I go to PB CVS on Garnet to get our prescriptions as they are nice over there and the PB CVS is great to work with. The store in La Jolla needs to revamp the attitudes with staff so that we feel well treated when we come in not alienated as we do now. Even called the doctor who had written the prescription to confirm dosage because she thought it was a little low. I was shocked and so thankful that she took the time to do that. This pharmacy is always crazy busy and I'm always very patient when picking up medication because I can see that they are doing their best. Every single time I pick up I request for them to take my prescriptions off auto-refill. However, like clockwork they auto-refill and I receive texts and calls to pick up. Today I called in to try to let them know I didn't need the medication and would not be picking up. I also was trying to kindly ask again for it to stop auto-refilling. as I was explaining the situation, the female assisting me cuts me off in the middle and says what's your birthdate? I answer, give her a minute for any further questions and then continue to explain the situation. To which she again cuts me off in the middle and says, what medication. I answer and attempt to continue a third time, actually make it through the explaintion and she responds this isn't on auto-refill. I then say well I'm very confused why I continually receive texts and calls every month for both of my prescriptions then? I am met with dead silence for far too long until she final scoffs "It's an automated system. I don't know what to tell you, it has glitches." Well thanks for your excellent customer service lady. I only wish I had caught her name to report to the manager. I cannot believe how many times she ignored/cut me off. read more

Decent place opened 24 hrs, to have you prescriptions filled, except don't come here during rush hours, since parking lot is a pain. However, I noticed that something that is used routinely such as razor cartridges are locked up. They can only be unlocked by the cashier which is annoying. It's interesting to know that there was almost $5 priced higher of their razor cartridges for the Mach 3 Turbo at regular price compared to Target! So next time, I'll make sure I have a coupon from CVS before I consider buying their razors refills especially since they're locked up. Otherwise their set up seems easy to walk through. read more

I feel like this place has limited stock or I came on a day where they needed to restock the shelves. How can you not freakin' have Benefiber? I guess I shouldn't complain about one specific item but seriously a lot of the shelves were somewhat bare. The line for the cashier is somewhat identifiable. I hate the CVS's where they poorly denote any sort of line to pay. The associates change but I did witness two associates who didn't understand a customer's question if insect repellent was available. One associate looked really lost. Maybe she was new? I get the hint it was language barrier on part of the associates. Parking can be hard to come by at times when you're here after many employees from UCSD campus are leaving their offices. I love reaping the benefits from using my CVS ExtraCare card. Not only do I receive coupons that I can actually use at check out, I'm able to select some in-store coupons from my email and send them to my card. I had done so last week and totally forgot about it. I received 25% off my entire purchase today. Yay! They have a good selection of greeting cards and a big section of Holiday items at this location. Since they are open 24 hours, I've come in here several times, before heading to work. My only complaints are that finding nearby parking can be difficult and where the line starts for the cash registers can be confusing to customers. read more

This CVS is like others I've visited before. Its awesome that they have groceries, alcohol, make-up, first aid, cards, and pretty much anything else you can think of all in one store. Make sure to get a CVS card, otherwise you'll decide you need to buy random stuff (like I do) and end up spending way too much money. The line for the pharmacy is always horribly long, so I try to avoid that whenever possible. All medication takes forever to be filled, and it always seems as though there are 10 pharmacists doing nothing, and only 1 filling orders via phone and 1 more ringing people up. Customer service overall isn't good here, but I don't really find it necessary because all the aisles are labeled, and most 24/7 places like this aren't known for being overly friendly. read more

Even though the lights in here are overly bright, I still come in here all the time to buy things I don't need or want. And then I leave the store, only to come back 30 minutes later needing something else that I didn't even need until that day when I saw the CVS sign. As a pharmacy/drug store it's standard. Carries similar product mixes to what most pharmacy/drug stores carry in terms of product selections and variety. I find though in comparison to Walgreens it's spread out alot more and not as tightly compacted as Walgreen stores tend to be. I think CVS stores tend to carry more cosmetic and beauty products though than other drug store chains maybe. Anyway, I never walk out of this location empty handed. read more

I love CVS and have loved CVS ever since I moved to San Diego. I'm not all hardcore with the coupons and points, but I have friends who are who save a ton of money by doing their shopping at CVS. This particular CVS is my local haunt. Why so much appreciation, you ask? + Open 24 hours. + The pharmacy is also open 24 hours (MAJOR BONUS POINTS). + CVS-brand products are kind to my wallet. Really, the pharmacy is the selling point. The mere presence in the middle of the night of someone who knows what they're talking, someone who can advise you while you wait for your doctor's office to open...
