CVS Pharmacy - Drugstores Near Me - Fredericksburg, Virginia

I don't know the name of the man I spoke with in the pharmacy 4 times today, but he was by far the rudest, most condescending, liar I have ever spoken to. I went to order my prescription today and it was over $200 in the app. This medication is usually $10. I called CVS and he told me the systems were down and to call back in an hour (lie #1). I called back well over an hour later and the same person answered. He told me my medication couldn't be filled at all. When I asked why, he said it was because my prescription is a controlled substance (it isn't) and my doctor doesn't have a valid license (he does). I told him that the medication isn't a controlled substance and, if it was, I couldn't have gotten it from the same telehealth provider multiple times before. He then told me telehealth providers can prescribe controlled substances (another lie) but this dr couldn't. I called my doctor and checked the FDA site to confirm that neither of these things were true. I then called CVS a third time and the same man answered. This time, he said he must have been looking at the wrong medication when he advised me of that, which doesn't even make sense because I don't take a single controlled substance. At this point, he was very clearly annoyed that I was calling and ended the call by saying my Dr still wasn't licensed and disconnecting the line. I did some more digging and found that my doctor has had a valid, active license in VA for years and it is not set to expire for almost a year. This was confirmed on the state database, which I trust more than the guy who doesn't even seem to know which medications he is talking about. I then submitted a message in the CVS app detailing the above and asking for a resolution as I am clearly getting the run-around. The same man called me back and was immediately incredibly rude. He spoke down to me, continuously talked over me, and wouldn't listen to a single thing I said. He would not take the license info and insisted that I was wrong. When I tried to ask follow-up questions, he would raise his voice. After about 3 minutes of back-and-forth, I asked to speak with someone else. He told me there was nobody else. I know, as well as anyone, that he was not the CEO of CVS, so there must be someone above him. I also know that at 10am on a Saturday, he is not the only person working in the pharmacy. When I called him on that, he hung up on me. I immediately called the pharmacy back and spoke with someone else (finally) who told me he was someone from out of state and if I wanted help from someone I may have to wait for the regular pharmacist to return next week. I did some digging and called the 800 number to file a complaint. The rep I spoke with there was amazing. She was able to review their systems and confirm that there was no issue preventing them from filling the prescription and he was just lying to me. Suddenly, the price, "controlled substance" status, and the unlicensed provider issue were resolved. Shocker. If this is the service you all offer, I can see why the rating is as low as it is. read more

What a rude lady. Stopped to get some things and asked to used the bathroom. Lady snapped back I'm the only one here and you'll just have to wait until someone else gets here. She stood there with no customers not willing to help. What kind of store has a system where you need an escort to use the bathroom. From the reviews here seems I was saved from rabies. read more

Bathroom was filthy. Tampons and used pads boiling over in the trash can. It smelled horrible. No toilet tissue although the cashier offered to bring some when he noticed. They no longer have free bags. You have to pay for them. read more

I tried to buy cough syrup here yesterday and the worker said I have to be 21 to buy it. I left and looked up the law in my car and the Virginia Law states you have to be 18. Although the rest of the store is a regular ol' CVS, our experience with a particular worker, Andrea, was absolutely phenomenal. She had a terrifyingly photographic memory of everything we needed in the store, no matter how unique or small (seriously - what is milk of magnesia?) - and topped it off with a very welcoming, sweet, and friendly personality!! I had a surgery to remove my appendix and I needed medicine to deal with my pain. I had to call 4 times and every time there was another excuse. The last time I called, they said it was ready, so I went down to pick it up but then they had me wait ANOTHER hour. By the time I received my medicine (9 hours later) I was in SO MUCH PAIN. They need to figure their crap out so that people don't go through unnecessary pain for hours! read more

It used to be a good location. Now, when you call, you are put on hold forever. One exasperating time, I was put on hold for over 30 minutes, and then, they hung up on me. On another occasion, when I got out of the hospital, the doctor wrote me a perscription for Amoxicillin. They didn't have it! They said they would not have it for days, and neither would any of their locations. I went to the Walgreens just down the road and got it immediately. I doubt the numerous one star ratings will affect these people because they clearly could care less about their jobs. read more

I love that the Pharmacy is 24 hrs But that's it. They don't answer phones. I've waited on hold for over 30 minutes several times to speak to someone in the pharmacy. And whenever I go inside there isn't a line. No customers. So why can't y'all answer phones. Smh and if there is an issue with your script good luck figuring it out on your own. They won't even call you to let you know. And I e had to ask them to order my meds 3 times before it got ordered smh read more

Former employee here, after work 5+ years at a different store I transferred to this CVS after moving. This store was the most unsafe and beyond disgusting pharmacy I've ever worked in. Board of pharmacy requires medication expiration dates to be checked monthly and it has not been done in AT LEAST 6 months to a year. I found countless drugs with expiration dates over 6 months past. The pharmacy is extremely understaffed and pharmacy management is a joke. Filling errors are not reported, and happening at least once to twice daily. It was terrifying. Check your medication dates and accuracy EVERY TIME. read more

I've spent a lot of time in CVS, and there are two types: a great pharmacy or a horrible pharmacy. This pharmacy is a great pharmacy. Never once have they messed up a prescription. When I say I'll wait to pick it up, they will actually CALL my name over the store speaker. They give accurate times of how long it will take them to fill it. Recently when they saw me sitting in the waiting area, they immediately began working on my prescription (I guess because they knew I wasn't interesting in browsing or needed any other products?) It was so quick. Also, this CVS is open 24 hours. When I was little and had experiences in the hospital and needed to get a prescription upon release-- this CVS was always available to us. They have never been without a prescription I have needed to be filled. Also, I've never seen anyone upset or yelling at the pharmacist here, which definitely happens all the at a "horrible" CVS. Maybe the closer a CVS is to a hospital, the more reliable it is. But this is definitely one of the good ones. read more

We have been going to this CVS for as long as we have lived in Fredericksburg. There is another CVS walking distance from my house. I choose to go to this one because of one particular pharmacist who has always gone above and beyond call of duty to make sure that my wife has the medication that keeps her alive. Because of our personal situation we are sandwiched between two doctors who do not communicate to each other. One doctor sends a prescription that meets the needs of my wife. Unfortunately this doctor chooses language that makes it impossible for CVS to fill the prescription. This particular doctor is only open a couple days a week so if we run into an emergency we are out of luck. The other doctor we go to if we have to get the prescription refilled. This doctor writes prescriptions that do not meet the needs of my wife but they are written in a way that CVS pharmacy can fill. This results in us running Out of this life-sustaining medication a lot. As I said before my wife Will die within a couple days if she does not receive this medicine. The pharmacist that I mentioned above has worked for hours on the phone with the insurance company and doctors to make sure that my wife has watching needs to survive. There is another pharmacist who started working at the CVS who is pretty much useless to deal with. I am fairly confident that the bad reviews about the CVS are all directed towards relatively new employee. About a year and a half to a year he's been working there. It's not that he's a bad guy it's just that he doesn't understand the severity of the job that he has. The pharmacist is like a police officer or a soldier or a fireman. They are the ones who are standing in the gap protecting peoples lives and when someone has that responsibility they deserve to be praised when they take it seriously but they better darn well take it seriously because incompetence leads to death. I'm not going to name names or describe the two employees that I mentioned because I'm fairly sure that they will be able to know who they are. Also I don't want someone getting fired on my account. I would rather they learn their lesson and start taking this seriously. I know that there are other pharmacists who work there but as far as I'm aware these two are the only ones that work the overnight shift which is when I am available to pick up medication. read more

This place is hit or miss. However I get tired of being questioned about the medication I pick up. Yeah I know some of it might be their job, but not when it looks like they are two seconds from calling the cops. I got all my medication from legit doctors with legit reasons. On top of that they keep buying BIGGER and BIGGER needles. So I went in there one day and asked WHY and the lady (Carol?) got REALLY LOUD! She goes off on a tangent saying that I should be contacting my doctor and she has NO control over the kind of needles they get in or prescribe. She's the same lady who lied a few times about the 'servers' being down when I went in there at night to pick up a prescription that was already filled out and they had called me to tell me it was ready. Anyway, Mrs. LOUD keeps going on a tangent and as I start to feel my PTSD peak I decide to leave. I went back with the last used wrapper of the previous needle I had and she stated that they would buy different kinds of needles. She went on to state that they didn't have any control over what they ordered, despite the fact that this completely contradicted the previous statement of hers that my doctor prescribed larger needles. Then they'd 'fax' my doctor for a refill of the prescription a few times and call and say they did it. I'd drive to my doctors office and they would say they didn't get anything. After a while I got tired of their incompetent dips, switched to another CVS and everything's been fine since then. If I can help it I won't ever be back here for anything ever again. read more

Would not recommend this cvs at all. Prepare for prescriptions that are half filled, not on automatic refil, and when you point this out to employees after enduring it for over a year, they tell you that if you don't like it, you should go to another location. Most days, they are wonderful; today, ridiculous: no one came to help me at the drop-off window TWICE. I finally gave up after my two tries, then went to buy a card up front with my son - the two cashiers looked like they were taking customers from one line, and we stood in the middle waiting for the first of the two to become free, when three people rolled up in front of me and the cashier took them - knowing full well I had been standing there waiting for 15 minutes... why is it so hard to understand the "next customer" concept?!?! I had a very unpleasant experience at this location. Jan 17 2015 I tried to get a prescription filled for my daughter for a medication to stop vomiting. After much confusion and delay I was told the wait time would be a minimum of 4 hours. I told the tech I had a child at home in King George vomiting and was met with rudeness. I talked with the manager who answered sorry that happened. I got a text four hours later my medicine was ready. I have tried to have medication filled here in the past and always had a long wait time but this will be my final time. read more

I have always had a pleasant experience at this cvs. The staff is very friendly and gave me advice on my refills. The process is easy, and they call you when it is ready. The store is always very clean and organized and the staff is always more than willing to help you find anything. read more

I would have to recommend no one go through what I did because this happens to be the only 24 hour pharmacy for miles. First and foremost, I presented a legally formatted run-of-the-mill prescription for my dying Shi-tzu that had to be filled prior to leaving the area and was obviously ordered by the vet. I will tell you a fact: "pharmacists can and DO lie to you". That's a fact. I won't go into too much detail, but the heavy set pharmacist I dealt with who lured me down to her location from my home in D.C. due to the rarity of the medication is just beyond the pale. A self proclaimed "pet-lover" had no sympathy for 'Lu-Lu's' situation and actually lied to me, yes, lied to me, about 'missing' information that was actually ON the script. I almost died in disbelief. Be careful, because this is not a practicing pharmacist within the lines of her duties. She took a path in my instance of endangering animals and, most certainly, people alike. A DHS investigation is pending per both myself and the vet filing a lengthy complaint.
