Every time I go, it's close to closing and the line is always long. However, once at the register, I always receive fast, friendly and prompt service. It seems as though they are a bit understaffed. It's incredibly slow, understaffed, and always closing. I got here 15 mins before opening and am 4th in line. It's been about 40 mins and I've moved up one spot. We're just here for a pickup and there is one person on register. They'll close for lunch everyday at 1:30pm, leave everyone standing in line still, and be even further behind. We're only here because there are no other options around here these days. It's always like this... Its a miserable experience. Finally got to the front and the perception is wrong! It was a 3 month prescription and they only filled it for 1 month! Ughh, we need this medicine asap, we literally have to take the medication in the store. We just have to accept this. I've been using this pharmacy for four years. Some of the people are very nice so I have not wanted to review them badly. However the techs have stolen my medications -shorted my meds because they are controlled substances in the past, and today I encountered a super dismissive snarky tech who just blew my mind with his disrespect. I'm not sure if he was a manager but I sure hope not. I have epilepsy. I require brand name medications. I have used generics in the past and they don't control my seizures. Regarding the stealing of my medicines: I use Klonapin as both a daily and an emergency medication. It's a controlled substance. For multiple months the pharmacy techs were stealing between 5-15 of my pills, I guess thinking I wouldn't notice!? I'd get home and the number of pills would be low, so I'd call the pharmacy, wait on the phone, MAYBE someone would answer, then I'd go back in and wait in line -a line that is regularly at least 15 minutes long. Then I'd wait for the person at the counter to get the manager, to confer about the situation, then I'd have to wait for them to find the photo, and count each pill in the photo to determine that I'm not lying that my meds were shorted. It happened at least four times over five months. My doctor rewrote the script so it comes in a sealed bottle from the manufacturer and no tech has to count or steal them. Regarding filling my meds with generics: Last week they filled my other medication with a generic. I got home and immediately called to let them know I need the brand name. My doctor (an epileptologist from UCSF Epilepsy Center) understands that generics are not the same for controlling epilepsy. A week has passed and still no word... called multiple times since then and today I finally got a human. That human said it was filled last week and I'd need to take it up with my insurance. I explained that last week they made a mistake and needed to order the brand name. This person passed me on to the manager. After some time consuming confusion the manager saw a note from last week and said come in they'll fill it. When I arrived, the tech at the counter says "You know they're the same right?" As if my insistence for the brand name is frivolous... As if my doctor writing it "Dispense as Written" is not as smart as this pharmacy tech, and I want to pay 5x as much money for my medications, and I want to jump through hoops with my insurance company just because I enjoy the hassle. He said he had to refund the generic I bought back to my card, then said it wasn't the right card. I said I probably paid in cash (it was $3 for the generic). Exasperated, he opened the drawer and counted out $3 in cash. He pushed the bottle of generics back toward me. I asked if they would take back the bottle of pills because they are trash to me. He said "we cant take it back", I said "you can't dispose of it for me?" he begrudgingly took it back and put it to the side. Because it seemed important to me that he not spread this misinformation and hold an erroneous belief that makes him dismissive of people who require brand name medicines, I said "there is a 2% fail rate for certain generics, and I'm in that 2%". He said under his breath "that's because..." (I didn't hear the rest) and then he said "I'm not gonna argue with you". I said "thank you", even though I'm pretty sure he was insinuating that I was arguing with him, versus trying to educate him. Generic manufacturers have legal latitude to use LESS of the actual drug up to a certain point. I researched this extensively when I was having break-through seizures on generics. Generics use different fillers which I've had allergic reactions to. They ARE different in a few ways, and they don't work for my brain. This is acknowledged by my doctor who is an epilepsy specialist. Unfortunately most of the pharmacies in my area have closed, so this is the only one near me. read more

The line is always too long, location understaffed, and unreliable for things like having my prescription when I need it, or consulting when given a new medication. Customer service lacks big time. It's a terrible experience. read more

CVS Pharmacy - shelves of medical supplies - Drugstores Near Me - EMERYVILLE, California

I've been going to this CVS for years and it use to be great the staff was excellent and would even remember my name when I came in but the last couple years they have been going down hill and have finally hit bottom. Last month They sent me a text saying my meds for ready for pick up then I get down there and they are not ready and won't be until the next day this month they say they are ready so I call to make sure and they say they have been cancelled they said it must have been my doctor so I called my doctor and he never cancelled and said his information says the prescription went in fine and these were just the last 2 most recent times they messed up and they lied to me I'm done I will not be going back the staff they have now are some of the most incompetent clowns I have ever dealt with it doesn't seem like they have a manager or if they do the manager should be fired because there is no control over the staff the worse customer service I have ever seen I would recommend going else where because this place could end up killing you by not getting your medicine to you read more

This place is just abusively slow. There are two people in front of me in line and I have been here for over twenty minutes. Line is accumulating behind me. At least five staff people in the pharmacy. Great reminder of everything that is wrong with americas health care system. So broken, so evil. read more

I have a simple question that is not addressed by the completely useless automated system and I can't get through on the phone. The pharmacy here either has no reliable records or ... They claim they gave me the medication for 3 months and they had only given me for 1 month. I remember my medication was originally eligible for refill one month after and suddenly it changed to 3 months. I went three times and they told me I need to buy it myself and call insurance for reimbursement since they will not refill it. They also claim they reached out to my doctor but unless I went physically there and remind to talk to her they would not, and claim she did not respond instead. read more

You can feel how short-staffed this place is. I feel bad for the employees here, as everyone seems stretched thin. The automated refill phone system also hasn't worked for me and sometimes it will say my prescriptions are "ready," but then they won't be filled until I'm there in person. read more

Recently cut back hours, and cut staff as well. they do not refill prescriptions when you use their automated system, ask you to wait in the store. last I went to pick up my prescriptions one person was working the pharmacy and held up the line for over an hour. removes the concept of convienent one stop shopping when the service takes this long and isn't ready despite contacting in advance read more

They really need to hire more staff. The people are nice and work hard, but they are so understaffed it's embarrassing. The automated phone system doesn't work. I've been on hold for over an hour just trying to see if the prescription will be ready for pickup because the line is often an hour in person only for the prescription to not be ready. read more

GREAT customer service! I have been here several times, as the location is close to my office, and they are covered by my insurance. The folks that work at this CVS are always professional, super friendly and helpful, no matter how busy they are. I've been getting my vaccines there as well. read more
