Really dislike the loop customers are forced to endure to refill scripts. Impossible to talk to a pharm rep. CVS should do better

This CVS pharmacy was completely unhelpful and disappointing. I explained that my prescription was at Walgreens but my insurance wouldn't cover it there. CVS would not even attempt to call Walgreens to look up the prescription, despite that being a standard practice pharmacies can do. I felt brushed off and unsupported during a situation that directly affects my health. Customer service like this is unacceptable, and I will not be returning. read more

I typically go into cvs once a week for my couponing deals which I know can be annoying to the cashiers and the workers especially since I was having a bit of trouble at the self checkout. Guadalupe ended up checking me out and was very nice, patient, and pleasant. I always feel bad for being a little much with my couponing but she did not seem annoyed at all. Worst pharmacy ever. When you call for any reason, it is impossible to get thru and talk to a person. You need a rx #, so if you need to call BEFORE you have a prescription ready, there is no way to get thru. There is never enough workers, and it's always backed up. Being open 24/7 DOESNT DO ANY GOOD when you don't provide any service at all to anyone, bc you're always trying to cut costs. It should be illegal to run a healthcare business like this. ******update. I was left emails by two different representatives who said they would call me when I was available. I gave them a date with an open availability and was not contacted by either. ***** I booked an appointment for the Novavax they gave my vaccine away to someone who had not booked an appointment for it and told me that I could take any of the other ones. I am allergic to polyethylene glycol which is stated on all my cvs health records. They did not apologize for giving my vaccine away. Which is the only one I'm not allergic to. I was lucky that the man after me had had one they reserved because he called. I didn't know I had to call when I had it reserved. If that man didn't give me his I would not have gotten the only vaccine I can. Which was the one I reserved with my appointment. This was gross negligence on behalf of the pharmacist who told me there's nothing she can do about it they gave my vaccine to a walk in. I don't understand how I had a reservation and they gave mine away but held it for someone who called in. But not me the one who reserved it. Why was I told I wouldn't get what I reserved because they gave mine to someone who walked in. This was a complete failure to me a loyal customer. Lady at the clinic was not helpful AT ALL. I was told to reschedule because I did not have a credit card at the beginning of the appointment, my insurance would have covered simple throat infection medication. When I told her I could have someone bring a card or I could pay with ApplePay she then started looking down at her watch as if I was wasting her time. I have never been asked to present a credit card before being helped at a clinic. I was better off going to a Midway Express Clinic instead. read more

***update*** If you decide to call this location, be prepared to sit on hold for at least 10-15 minutes at any point of the day. I ran out of refills so I requested the pharmacy to contact my dr. Within a week, I had to call the pharmacy multiple times on 3/7 days to get this filled. At one point I was told that they only show a record of contacting my dr one time. They have become very unreliable which is frustrating because they are the closest pharmacy to where I live. read more

They always say that my medication isn't ready or I'm not eligible for a refill when, I indeed am eligible for a refill. They always check again and, oh yes, there it is! Why can't you just give me my ready prescription instead of having to fight about it. Every. Time. My medication is also always "out of stock" and I need to come back after the weekend too. If you're patronizing the pharmacy, I suggest you avoid it at all costs. The weekend crew headed by Clint is awful. They have zero customer relation skills and I'm afraid they are also incompetent at their actual jobs. Clint seemed to be bothered when we checked in early for our vaccine boosters even though the app states you may check in up to 15 minutes prior. There's a reason for this--so the vaccines can be prepped. After checking in, Clint immediately had an attitude and was incredulous that we showed up early. Why? I'm not sure but I'm sure he would have treated white customers differently. He had no interest in serving us. He didn't want to prep the vaccines without his assistants so he told us "it will take a while and we will page you." Ok Clint. No Sorry, no thanks, no indication of how long we were to wait. Generally we like to be in and out of a public indoor space but we wanted to get our vaccines so we waited. We waited 20 minutes and 5 min after our appointment time, we went back to the counter. The rest of his staff showed up and asked if they could help us. Clint was right there but was silent. Again he did t want to serve us. Clint had not only not prepped the vaccines but he also had not informed his staff to prep vaccines for customers (including a disabled veteran) who were waiting for their scheduled appointment. One staff member looked at us and asked if we need help but had no idea we were waiting and even then Clint didn't bother to explain. This is mystifying to me when there is not one customer at the pharmacy or drive through on a Saturday morning at 7:45am. Please note that this CVS schedules appointments 24 hours a day so this isn't a matter of having an early appt. Clint then to tick us off and provoke us said --"I don't see you in the system." So not only has he not prepped the appointment but he has not checked for the appointment that we checked in for timely. One of the techs found our appointment but I didn't have confidence that this staff knew what they were doing and because they seemed to be bothered and when they finally started prepping the vaccines (without gloves and masks), it seemed like our shots could be contaminated. We just left. Do not go here. They are unscientific laymen running this operation and usually customer service saves many of these defunct pharmacies with their low tier pharmacy graduates who barely pass their exams, but this one doesn't even have that. Also the manager Greg is totally unhelpful and seems to be just going through the motions. He has no interest in resolving complaints for the neighbors who this pharmacy serves. I know that there are major staff shortages and it absolutely shows at this location. Stay away from this place. It's a complete dumpster fire. read more

Came here to pick up a few things a week ago since I was in the area. It's definitely a decent Store for the most part and it's your common CVS store. Prices are a little high, employees were friendly. Not really a fan of parking in the back to walk all the way around to get to the front of the building. That felt very inconvenient. read more

I went to be seen at the Minute Clinic by doctor Marion Kolar which was a joke, and frankly a waste of time. I went to be seen for a TB test that needed to be done for work reasons. She was insisting that I actually need to do the Quantiferon TB test but that she was unable to do that since I need blood drawn, and the only way to get that test done, her words were, " In order to get this test done at any lab you need this piece of paper note that I am going to give you, otherwise you won't be able to get this test done." Bring a doctor I trusted her, paid $59 for a piece of paper with words on it saying I needed a test done.. she then proceeded to give me ibformation about where to go to get it done that it needs to be done at this place called "Quest" and that it woyld be simple I could walk in snd get it done no problem. I called to facility to verify that, and they said no, because this is a certain type of test I need to make an appointment. I asked them how much the test was they said $349?!????? I was like yeah, plus the $59 I spent for a piece of paper..something does't make sense or add up. So I called another place called "Any Lab Now" and they were going to only charge me $170 for the test. I also asked them if they need a paper from a doctor saying I need this done or not..and they were confused..they said no, you can come in and take any test you want you don't need a paper saying that!!!!!! So I go back to the CVS Minute Clinic yesterday after work at around 6:30 pm. waited for the doctor to get done with her patient, and I approached her asking for my money back of $59 and that she gave me misleading information. She told me yo go away and that I was bothering her. She gave me a number to call and said she couldn't help. I then went into the parking lot and tried to call the number but no one was avalaible..so I went back inside CVS minute clinic waited for her to finish with her next patient, and then asked again - " I called this number like you said no one us available to take my call and I would really like my money back, her is the piece of paper you gave me in which you made me believe that I needed this in order to get the test done." Her response- " I don't have time for this, I reached out to my manager I just texted her she will call you!" It is now the next day, Saturday around noon, went in, found 2 doctors working today, I is in with a patiet, the other is walking around. I stop her and explain my story in front if other people waiting and explained that I have been patiently waiting, but no one is getting back to me and I am now upset and feel neglected! She then told me, " once you give us money, you won't get it back, and that it doesn't matter the situation!" Seriously????????? what?????? I hope someone reads this from corporate and fires this person. Yay, other people heard this and couldn't believe their ears, myself included. All I can say is I better get my money back! Oh, and then the manager from CVS, some older looking guy playing with his change in his pocket while having a conversation with me acting as though I gave done something wrong, unwilling to really care about my story. He kept apologizing but saying there was nothing he could do even though CVS is affiliated with the Minute Clinic. I never received a call back so far, and I am here now hoping someone with power to do good, does the right thing by me, bc this is a SERIOUS FAIL CVS AND CVS MINUTE CLINIC! I've never had a problem with Cvs Pharmacy- filling my medications correctly or timely. They've been friendly and courteous. The store is always clean, Cvs people are very helpful and polite. The drive-through on North Avenue is slightly awkward as there is only one pick up window. But -it doesn't even matter because at Walgreens when it's busy it's busy and neither line as fast! Good news is is this pharmacy is open 24 hours so from a convenient standpoint it's a good deal. read more

Been going to this CVS since it opened. Every month we order and pick up medication for our children and almost every month we have issues with techs either putting it wrong in the system or not filling all medications. One person in particular doesn't know what's she's doing. Went to pick up meds that showed they were ready on their system but she didn't know how to put them through. She was so frustrated that she told us to drive around And get back in line in the drive through till she could figure it out...SERIOUSLY . This last time they put two medications through under the same pre-authorizations causing the insurance to kick it back and not cover it. After 2 weeks trying to fight with the insurance for an explanation it was because of what CVS did which hosed up the whole mess. You don't place 2 different medications under the same pre-authorization request, they need to be 2 different requests. This place is a joke and the doctor there is mediocre. I waited for about 3 hours. Minutes, yeah right! The guy waiting in the chair got mad at me because he didn't sign in and didn't know he had too. Then all of a sudden the lady next to him didn't know either. There's a huge sign right in front of you. I thought I had and ear infection which wasn't the case after I went to my real doctor. Anyway, I was prescribed pills and ear drops that did nothing and wasn't needed. Well, after 3 weeks of the same pain I finally saw my real doctor, got a appointment in literally 15 minutes from when I called. She was puzzled to why the doctor at CVS prescribed this medication when it turns out I have temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and was told to just take ibprohine to keep the swelling down. A complete waste of time and money. I would question this doctors license since she can't even identify a true ear infection! People your better off going to a REAL doctor. May cost a tad more in $$$, but atleast you know your problem will be solved the 1st time. read more

Seriously, this pharmacy staff is a joke. I've lived in Elmhurst for six months now and have picked up my prescription from this CVS location five times and every time it's been a hassle. These clowns constantly pick the wrong, expired prescription to attempt to fill (prompting them to call to my doctor for a refill, which then gets denied because I have an existing prescription out and I don't see her anymore because, um, I moved, which then necessitates a 15 minute call and/or visit from me to straighten out the situation), which ignited this most recent inferno of suck at the three ring circus that is CVS Elmhurst. Most recently, I got a call from the clowns at CVS telling me my doctor has denied refilling my prescription. I groaned, thinking it was the same problem as usual, and called them back. I gave the girl my information, explained the situation, and got put on hold for seven minutes, which isn't in and of itself terrible, but it didn't help the situation. When someone finally picked up the line, I had to give her all my information and explain the situation again, and explained to her that she was trying to fill the wrong prescription and that I had one that had 8 refills. She informed me that the prescription she was looking at had 8 refills, but had expired and should she call my doctor and get a new prescription? What. The. Heck. I asked her why I wasn't told that my prescription was going to expire the last time, hell, the last FIVE times I came in and she said she didn't know and was sorry, but she could call my doctor and get a new prescription. I told her that no, the original message from them said I was denied a new prescription from my doctor and that I no longer went to that doctor. She asked if I had a new doctor that could fill the prescription, to which I responded that I did, I wouldn't be filling it with them, and what exactly they could do with my eight expired refills. Seriously. It's a monthly birth control pill, not narcotics. I don't see how it can be so extremely complicated for "professionals" to do their damn jobs. If the poor quality pharmacy service wasn't enough, the rest of the store always looks like it's recently been subjected to the stampede scene in Jumanji. Hardly anything is in stock and everything that miraculously found a spot on the shelves is torn apart or leaking. Seriously, get more inventory and keep it neater; you might be able to save some face when people get fed up with your piss poor pharmacy. Thanks CVS, now the closest location to my home with the most convenient hours is the cause of a chronic migraines. I absolutely love it here! It's the only 24/7 establishment close to me in miles. I can't even count how many times I needed emergency medication or chocolate at 3am. If you treat the night cashiers well, they are very nice. It is a little hard to find someone to help you though. And they don't sell the type of Marlboro's that I like! this morning i woke up to find a yeast infection. ew. gross. bitter. angry... i get in my car (6 am on a sunday) and head up to the only 24 hour pharmacy/drug store near me - this cvs. i walk in on a mission to find nasty monistat and i'm truly in an ikcy mood. i locate the object of my necessity and grab a bag of m&ms for good measure on my way to the counter. the cashier says "how are you?" I shake my head and say "i will be better soon." note, i've had pneuonmia for 2 weeks on top of which i contracted a cold on top of which now this infection has taken residence. the cashier smiles knowingly (without even looking at my purchases) and proceeds to ring me up. she is pleasant, sweet and caring. she tells me that it will get better and ever proceeds to lift my spirits by informing me that the movie-like snow that had started on my way to cvs will not be accumulating. thank you cvs, cashier. you made me feel warm and lovely this morning. i appreciate you. read more

Store is clean and well stocked. I can stare at the makeup isle for hours. I recently filled some prescriptions here and they were ready on time, in and out in 5 min. Sometimes the pharm. techs are short with you, but mind that they have a busy drive up to deal with and may be short staffed. I buy everything from hair color to toys for my niece here, love it! and it's 24 hours! parking can be a hassle, but if you are patient you will find a spot read more

Every time I try to get pain medication filled I always get hard time so sick of it especially since I in so much pain

We we're frustrated by the end of our visit for a rapid Covid-19 test for traveling at the CVS Pharmacy in Elmhurst. Our appointment time was for 9:20 a.m., but I did not receive my call until 9:50. The technician said we had to wait for our results in the parking lot for 30 to 40 minutes, but we waited over an hour. I had to go back in the rapid test site again to ask what was taking so long. She said that she was also processing the tests that were being done inside which is for a regular time test. Since I had to go inside to use the bathroom, I saw that there was only 1 person inside getting a test while their we're several people waiting for results at the rapid site. I saw the woman who was getting her test inside leave the store before I received a call about my results. The tech inside, Samantha, was wonderful. Also, my mother had to go in to use the washroom. She went up to the pharmacy to ask where the bathroom was because it was poorly marked, and the pharmacist gave her a hard time. Last, because the bathroom was poorly marked, I also had to ask where it was. I saw what looked like the store manager with his nose uncovered. He pulled his mask up quickly when I approached him. read more
