I had my daughter's prescription shipped to us from the store--give the social distancing going on. It was due to arrive the day after I got it filled. While tracking the package, I saw that USPS was inexplicably returning it to the pharmacy even though nothing was wrong with the package for address. I spoke with a technician in the pharmacy. She was great--concerned and on it. I asked her name and unfortunately forgot it. She called the place who handles their shipments and followed up with me within an hour. Even though I told them it was totally ok if they just try re-shipping it the next day, they went above and beyond. One of the other pharmacy employees personally drove it over to my house at the end of their shift that day. Really above and beyond. They have a new loyal customer. read more

I had my prescriptions here for about 2 years. I only kept filling them here because of the hassle of switching them over. My complaint is that the customer service was poor. It seemed like the pharmacists felt inconvenienced when I asked them a question, as if they were perturbed that I was even asking them to fill my prescription. I finally did switch to a locally pharmacy and am very glad I did. I am writing this review now because I had to call this CVS pharmacy about an old prescription. The pharmacist didn't know the answer, so just told me to call 800 SHOP CVS. When I asked her what option I should select, she said "just call that number and they will get your information." In other words, "I don't want to take any initiative to help you find an answer; please stop talking to me." Glad I've found a better pharmacy! read more

I want to give them -100. My vet called in an insulin RX for my cat. I was alarmed at the price $300.00. Since I have never used insulin I did not know this amount was an indication CVS did something wrong. My vet called in the correct dosage for a cat and CVS gave me dosage for a human. In hindsight - I wonder why I was not given the option to discuss this new RX with someone. After 5 doses, my cat became extremely ill and after a $2500.00 emergency vet bill, he should recovery. I WILL NEVER GO TO ANY CVS PHARMACY, AGAIN. How could they ignore the doctor's instructions. My cat almost died - thank goodness I was alert enough to notice something was wrong. COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE. Now I have to go in with the 'HUMAN' bottle of insulin to get the CORRECT RX for a cat. Let's see how they handle this situation. I bet it will be with no compassion or compensation - the bottle should have only cost $75 not $300. read more

Wow. The men who work at the cvs pharmacy are fast, friendly, and very competent. However, if you go when the ladies are there beware! I had so many bad experiences and this last one solidified my choice to never return. The ladies were lazy (one told me it was the weekend and she couldn't look up another cvs number?? how does that make sense) then another one put me on hold long enough that I stayed on the phone and drove into the store only to find she was sitting and starring at her nails. So rude. Management should really revise this customer service format.... but so many other great competent pharmacies to choose from I'll take my business else where and no wonder this pharmacy had a low rating already. The only reason it's not a 1 star is because the men seem to work hard to offset the laziness. read more

Although I have had a few issues with the pharmacy this review is mostly about the store. I LOVE having this well stocked and organized CVS nearby. They have a great selection of items and I can always find what I am looking for. The service is always helpful and friendly. Their hours are pretty good for the area, where everything closes pretty early! They have a great selection of wines and alcohol with very fair prices. Their CVS brand products are great quality and also reasonably priced. I have also been happy with their photo services, particularly the CVS app where you can send pictures from your smartphone to the location of your choice and pick them up later in the day or the next day. read more

They open at 9am on the weekends but no one is there till exactly 9am. The bars go up at 9am. They still need to log on the computers, and get settled. Poor mismanaged and everytime have to wait for my prescription. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY!!! read more

This pharmacy uses a lot of pharmacists that seem like they're right out of pharmacy school. It's fine if there isn't a problem, but if there is a problem, it's like dealing with trained parrots. They have trouble in the critical thinking and problem resolution area, just keep saying the same thing back to you. "Okay, okay. No problem. Your cost will be hundreds of dollars more than last time because I don't know what I'm doing. And no matter what you tell me that's what I'll keep saying in the same exact words. " Not an exact quote, but that is the drift. The pharmacy staff is polite, just gets that dead behind the eyes look if they actually have to think, makes you want to slap them (if you were the violent type) to loosen the gray matter and get it moving. They're like the still alive walking dead, looking for brains, or how to use their brains for anything other than rote memorization. They are nice in person, just kind of maddening - kind of like our health care system. Yeah, it can do the job, if you can jump through the hoops and pay through the nose. The other parts of the CVS are just like all CVS's everywhere, except they stock touristy stuff for the tourists that occasionally come here. The staff outside of the pharmacy is pretty nice for the most part - and they can actually think even if they don't have a college degree. A college degree can be overrated. You get a lot of coupons to try and get you to come back within a certain amount of time. Unfortunately, the Del Mar/Carmel Valley area has no places like Target to buy the little necessities of life, so unless you leave the hood, you'll be shopping at CVS or Rite-Aid. read more

The pharmacy staff are very rude and impatient. When I tried to check on the status of a prescription refill, I was interrupted and misinformed and made to feel like a major inconvenience. When I attempted to try and understand the situation, I was cut short and then rudely given the wrong information. This is a pretty busy pharmacy. I've always had to wait in line to pick up or drop off (just FYI). They help you just fine though.

It's a CVS, so it has exactly what you'd expect a CVS to have. The prices are what you expect because it's a large, familiar chain. The staff is okay; nothing special but no glaring flaws. The reason for my two star rating is that this place is so ungodly slow that it's not funny. It's not the fault of the employees, it's that there are seemingly never more than two of them and there's perpetually a line of five people to check out. If you live in the area or are visiting, I'd only recommend this place if you need to grab one or two things and have ten minutes to spare. read more

I needed a copy of a photo. They now have two machines which are self service so customers can make copies of their photos. I was so lucky Scott was there to help. He wanted the copy to be just as good as the original and tried so hard to duplicate it. His kindness and extra effort made my day! To encounter such a caring person who gives GREAT service is an asset to this store! read more

Incompetent staff in the Pharmacy here, i was one of two customers and the lack of training was very evident. They said they had my meds then they didnt, then they couldnt readthe doctors writing, i swear its like watching a comedy acted out by various levels of morons. This pharmacy is the absolute worst I ever had to deal with (and that is a lot!). Not only are they rude and unfriendly, all of the employees, they are incompetent! they all seem to be right out of school, I'd question the English comprehension of some of them, and they have no experience at all. on multiple occasions they submitted my prescriptions wrong to the insurance so they wouldn't cover it. When I called the insurance to find out what's going on they told me it was submitted wrong, so I have to tell them how to submit it!. On another occasion they told me there would be 90ml of my nasal spray in a tiny bottle, that actually only holds 30ml. They don't know the metric system! but of course they will charge you for the 90mls! unfortunately, my insurance makes me use CVS and this is the only one close to my house, so I have to go there otherwise I'd never ever want to deal with them! read more

I was at this CVS last night (12/14/17), with my 77 year old mother, when a woman who later identified herself as a beauty consultant, came up and nastily asked if she could help us, when my mom asked her the location of a certain item she was looking for the lady became almost irate and told my mom she had no idea where it was because she is a beauty consultant. I don't understand why she would come up and ask if we needed help if she wasn't able to help, nor why she would ask in an area that wasn't her area, however, my mother is a cancer survivor and a heart patient and doesn't need the stress of rude employees yelling at her and getting nasty with her...so I would recommend that if you live in this area, or if you find yourself driving through this area, AVOID THIS CVS at all costs, the lady in question should never be allowed in a job that requires her to deal directly with customers...frankly, by the looks of her, she wasn't much of a "beauty consultant" either... read more

This is the worst cvs ever. Their digital photo machine is broken. They will still take orders that cannot be fulfilled. They will not notify you that the order cannot be fulfilled as promised and you will only find out after you get to the store. Super pissed with this CVS right now. I went to there to pick up my medicine. I got there as quickly as I could after an all day commitment and I got there at 6:01. Because it was after 6pm they wouldn't let me pick up my medicine. Now I have to go a day without them. Not too happy about this right now. read more

I have never given a bad review, I hate doing this, but I hope it helps change the situation that the pharmacy seems to be experiencing. The actual store is well stocked and clean, however, the pharmacy and pharmacy staff are just beyond awful. They are inappropriate and intrusive about medications and I was legitimately told to 'to pay attention to words being spoken to me' regarding why my prescription took 6 hours to be prepared. This was the second time using their pharmacy against my better judgement, after the first time where I was told I was pharmacy 'shopping' by trying to fill my prescription at a different CVS location. My usual CVS was out of the medication and referred me to this location. Both managers from both locations spoke to this pharmacist. It was a nightmare and embarrassing. For being in such a nice part of town I don't understand why they havent even tried to fix their 2.5, 3 star rating on both google and yelp.. read more

Hi Everyone, I have been going to Longs and now its CVS for the last 25 years. I was born and raised in Del Mar and still currently work in the area. I love the checkers up front. Scott he is always so friendly and the lady with the short brown hair is the sweetest. My problem is with the PHARMACY. They have terrible customer service! I have had constant problems with them not filling my prescription on time and their bad attitude. I came in on Wednesday to drop off my prescription, I was told it would be ready Thursday morning... As I am on my way to CVS, I get a call Thursday morning that it actually won't be ready until Friday morning. I show up Friday morning at 8:30 am and the lady looked at me all annoyed that I was there and said "we just opened, it won't be ready till 11:00" I begin to explain to her how frustrated I am. To make a long story short, she did not apologize, she didn't walk over and try to make the situation better or even act like she understood why I was upset. Her response to me was.. "well you can have your prescription back and go somewhere else." Over all just very bad customer service!! I will never go back. read more

I felt almost sexually discriminated against from the cashier Kent,who's an old white guy. I'm a thick Mexican/white girl and was wearing a crop top because I'm visiting the beach near here. My younger cousin (26) and I (29)stopped to buy beer, he wanted to see both of our IDs so I had to walk all the way back out to the car for my ID, by the way nothing is wrong with our ID's we were just talking about how pretty my ID picture is and he refused us service because he wanted us to be quiet because he couldn't concentrate. Told us to take our party to Vons. I called and spoke with Steve, Kent's manager and he said he would speak to him but I doubt anything will come of my complaint. It's sad that a woman cannot feel comfortable with herself and be confident when receiving compliments in front of cashiers that are literally there to only do their job! This is an exceptional CVS, especially when compared to others in the area. I get scripts filled here and do a lot of convenience shopping also to avoid making trips to Wal Mar/Target. The pharmacy staff is good, a couple of the actual pharmacists are gorgeous which is a plus. They're very helpful/knowledgeable and being easy on the eyes is always a plus. Some of the techs, while nice, are really hard to understand because of think accents and/or ESL. The regular checkout staff are excellent, although a little slow. It seems maybe CVS participates in a state program that hires people with special needs. The two older male cashiers seem a little spacey, it might be some kind of disability though. OVerall, highly recommend! Excellent drug store for prescriptions, customer service and convenient shopping. -Ben read more

I went there this morning to pick up 5 things - vitamins, eye care, and Burt's Bees products. 3 of the 5 items were sold out. The space on the shelf was there, the label was there, but there was no shelf stock. As I looked around the store I noticed that a lot of the shelves were similar with blank spaces where stock used to be. So, they let the fast-selling items sell out while leaving an abundance of slow-moving items, including way too much of the CVS brand. I should have talked to a manager but he or she should walk around and do his or her job. I left shaking my head instead. Note to CVS: I just ordered your missing items from Amazon. The next time I want to visit a retail pharmacy I will try Rite-Aid, Vons, and whatever else is in the Del Mar/Carmel Valley area. It's too bad, because CVS is everywhere, but being everywhere is not enough. You have to also be well run and well stocked. Two stars for being everywhere, otherwise zero stars. read more

Ever since CVS took over our local friendly Long's this shop has become a mess. Where Long's used to have a variety of merchandise brands we now have--maybe-- one plus CVS Brand X. And the longtime staff is being fired or forced to resign and replaced by newcomers who don't have a clue. And not many of them apparently. Is it any surprise that there are now looonnng lines at the check out stands? And don't get me started on what the pharmacy has become. read more

I got 4 prescriptions filled at this pharmacy today. Lots of problems. First they tried to charge me for brand-name Lipitor, when my doctor had prescribed generic (BIG difference in price). Second, I need a special heart medication that isn't available in generic. I had been getting it from OptumRx, mail-order pharmacy in Carlsbad. Price from OptumRx was $105 for a 90 day supply. The price at CVS was $487!!! OptumRX ships this drug in the original light-proof containers, but CVS dispensed them in a large translucent container. Two problems with that: (I) the drug is supposed to be stored in a light-resistant container and (ii) I don't have any assurance that this is not a counterfeit drug (yes, there are counterfeits of this drug). I asked to see the original containers and the pharmacist told me she had thrown them away. Sad to say, I don't trust this pharmacy anymore. read more

I am not sure what has happened to this store, but the atmosphere is quite different to what it used to be. I am not sure if the store has gone through a change of management. Last week the woman that looks like a Philippino was very rude to me. This week she was very nice. While looking for some items, I felt that I was being watched as though the new girl thought that I might shoplift something. I will not be going into the store again. I can purchase my toiletries from Albertsons or online. I will not spend money where minimum wage people are so disrespectful. read more

This CVS treats customers in a way that is morally reprehensible! They have (and CVS in general) have turned over their refunds, exchanges,and the way returns and receipts are handled by a third party computer system. I spent 35 minutes attempting to return one item with a receipt from the store- and they refused to help,essentially insulted me, called me a thief,because their computer system said the item had already been returned (which was in error). The manager showed herself to be without any manners when I said I had been a customer for over 20 years, and said "everybody says that" , and "thats what you say" with regard to the item not being previously returned. I was also told they had to pay more attention to the system than the person.I was then offered half the credit for the item, since the manager said "you could be anybody", and the story of this receipt could be something different" The manager also put her hand up in front of my face when I tried to speak with her and encourage her to see the facts before her, and interrupted me at every turn. I refused to accept such a ridiculous offer when I had EVERYTHING anyone should need for a simple return. This manager should have been setting the example for her employees, and she was impatient,rude and insulting. No customer should be treated this way. I will not be shopping at this CVS or any other again. read more

One more prescription- one more issue! The staff assured me (rudely) that my prescription was not in the system. I knew it had to be so I said that they had to find it as I was not leaving. I got refered to the pharmacist who assured me that it was indeed not in the system and I should deal with my doctor directly. I told them that on a Sunday it was going to be a challenge. So could they at least give me 2 days worth of the prescription. Once more the answer was no. She started calling the next person in line while I was still there. I told her that we may have a situation as I was not leaving until I got my prescription. Keep in mind that I was 100% my doctor had down what was needed to get it ready as I went thru the exact same situation with them in the past. This is only then that I realized that she never really opened my file as she asked for my info once more... Guess there was a "glitch" in the system as miraculously my prescription was in... I guess that working on Sunday is not their cup of tea and they preferred telling me that my prescription was not in and blaming on the doctor than getting it ready. I told them to remind themselves that they are dealing with patients and are not there to sell bread and butter... This is the last time I deal with them. They are lazy and not trustworthy beside being extremely rude. A patient waiting in line ( did I forgot to mention the lack of privacy space) told me that she was sorry to see what I went thru and glad that I hold my ground... Sad the only comfort from this visit came from another customer and none of them... read more

This review is about the pharmacy at this location. The pharmacy is super efficient and the staff are friendly. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes for anything. They have a great system for insurance billing that is hassle free to the consumer. I have dealt with the main pharmacist several times including an immunization. She is caring and knowledgeable. as to the yelp review about CVS almost killing the person's cat with an overdose, I am not surprised. I used to have a cat on insulin. About 2 units twice a day. I got the insulin from CVS. About two years later, I had to go on insulin. CVS did not put the dosage on the insulin packaging which was 30 units a day. When I asked what my dosage was the pharmacist responded "the same as before". I mentioned that "before" was my cat, not me. The pharmacist then gave me a survey form for the store and asked me to give them the highest grade. My store was in Redondo. Looks like CVS happens to be incompetent wherever they may be. read more
