Came here to buy some children's liquid Tylenol for my child. When we got back to our hotel and after giving it to our child, we noticed that the product had been expired!! WTF. We came back the next day to exchange it and noticed that their shelves were filled with many more expired bottles. This is a huge safety concern especially for children's medicine. Also, the manager did not care and didn't seem shocked at all. Looks like this is a common problem at many CVS stores. I live very close to this location but after years of not having my monthly Rx's never ready for pickup when they were supposed to be and having to wait in long lines only to find out another Rx was not quite ready yet or they were "just finishing it up", I switched my pharmacy to a different location. It was always a minimum of 30-45 minute wait as I usually had to go to the chairs and wait while they finished filling my orders. Orders that they had received the Rx for days to a week in advance. It really didn't seem like there was any attention paid to helping the customer as expediently as possible and no effort was ever made to correct this. My new location has excellent customer service, quick problem solving, and I have not had any problems since switching. read more

This CVS has a MAD little jewelry kiosk! Omg the coolest, blingiest, stuff at super reasonable prices! WTF...what the friday???? Never seen this jewelry before. Seriously would drive all the way to Del Mar for it. There was a ....problem in the bathrooms. Black water back up it seemed....and smelled. Ugh. They needed some remediation but there were just fans blowing trying to dry???? Was waiting for the Yelp Elite Badge day BBQ so didn't want to eat but this CVS has a MAD healthy option snack section!!!!! What the what????? Nuts, bars, seaweed, jerky, veggie chips I mean wow. CVS is the same everywhere and this is just one of the bajillion shops. I can't really say much about this store compared to any other. Personal care, pharmacy, some touristy crap and an aisle of candy. I needed contact lens fluid and they had it. Yay! read more

I have been going to CVS pharmacy in Del Mar for years because their service is so good and friendly... I even do some of my grocery shopping there. Unfortunately after years of encountering wonderful employees tonight was different. A woman name. Michelle checked me out today at 8:10 PM... I was on the phone with somebody on her headphones where she was checking me out, and I didn't know she was talking to me or not. I said I'm not going to say anything to your manager, but I thought it was rude of you to talk on the other phone while I was checking out. She got very rude, said she was the manager, said, go ahead and tell the manager I'm about to go on my break! Mixed bag at this place. One time the service rocks, the next time the service makes me want to try my hand at MMA. (this doesn't make me a bad person, just a person who needs to let off some steam on some not so bright service people) The parking is pretty good for the area so that's a bonus. Once again I've been on hold for 21 plus minutes waiting for them to pick up the phone. Every time I call, I'm on hold for at least 20 minutes before they pick up. They always say that they are so busy yet last week I actually stayed on the phone and drove to CVS and walked up and told them I was still on hold waiting for them to answer. No one was on the phone and only 1 person picking up a prescription. There were 4 people working in the pharmacy so saying that they are so busy that they can't answer is a joke! So many complaints yet no changes being made. They just don't care about customer service! By the way, I'm still on hold as I'm writing this. It's now been over 25 minutes! I'm not always a big fan of their pharmacy, but I will say that after getting my flu shot there today, I am a fan. I highly recommend everyone get their flu shot before they run out as they always do in the fall. Getting one was quick and easy, also FREE. It took me 10 minutes from start to finish and the guy who gave me the shot was terrific. No pain at all. read more

The most incompetent and ill informed pharmacy technicians in all of San Diego work at this location. Not only are they uneducated in medicine, but when you give them a chance to make things right they will literally laugh in your face. Sharon or Shannon (she hid her name tag and refused to give her name). Not only refused life saving medication in my presence but she laughed in my face when I intervened. Additionally, she manipulated the costing to 3x the cost. This is dangerous, unprofessional and a violation of basic human rights. I go to this store frequently to pick up prescriptions and other household items. It's amazing how long it can take to drop off or pick up a prescription, as if the pharmacy staff does not understand the urgent needs of those people awaiting their medication. The staff members are all very friendly and helpful. BUT I find it extremely annoying that they always ask for my CVS card...presumably so CVS can keep track of my purchases. I consider this to be an Invasion of Privacy. Then, following my purchase, my receipt is always over a foot long: full of coupons I never use. As if this corporation had not heard that we're Running Out of TREES. This store is notorious for neglecting their plants, which presents a shoddy appearance from the parking lot. I sometimes buy a plant, out of pity, but usually they're too overpriced, especially for looking so bad. read more

I love all CVS because although their products can be more expensive than Walmart and other larger stores, if you have coupons, it's your best bet to get products here or Walgreens. The store sales plus coupons, you'll get some of the best prices you can find. I come into the CVS occasionally because I work nearby, but I don't come here for the pharmacy or anything like that. Sometimes the line can get a little bit long, but I've never had a problem and the cashiers who have helped me have been very friendly. One thing I will say about this CVS is that their prices are at least $0.50 more than some other CVS locations. Specifically compared to the CVS locations in the South Bay. Luckily, I live in the South Bay, so I don't have to settle for inflated CVS prices, but if you don't, this is just a heads up that there are cheaper prices out there are other CVS stores. This week they have 40% off all NYC cosmetics, which are already ridiculously cheap. Not all their products are of great quality, but I really like their nail polishes. $0.59 nail polishes this week! It's a drag when you get stuck in a long line here because after all that waiting the service is not very nice nor friendly. If this review were only for the Pharmacy, I would give it one star, but the people in the rest of the store are usually nice and helpful. The problem, as many others have noted, is with the attitude at the pharmacy, especially the pharmacist - Ms. Nguyen. Very unhelpful - after listening to what I had to say she told me I was welcome to go elsewhere. And there seems to be a revolving door of people working there. The location at Black Mountain Rd is much better and equally convenient, so I will take her up on her offer to take my prescriptions to another pharmacy. read more

This place is SO incompetent. Seriously. I've been coming here for about a year, to TRY to give them the benefit of the doubt. My son has complicated health issues so we get ALOT of RX and we have double insurance, so I understand things can get tricky! But we have been experiencing more mistakes than not, so it's time to go. I am a Nurse and I think I have realistic expectations and understanding of how a pharmacy and insurance work. The most disturbing thing recently was when a Pharmacy Tech (?) argued with me about the name of a drug. She kept insisting that Budesonide is the same as Albuterol and reordered the Albuterol. She talked down to me when I kept asking her to check for a Budesonide order. She insisted that she was reordering it. Finally when she asked somebody else about the generic/trade names, She said that it had never been filled there. When I showed her the app and asked for her supervisor, she acted all irritated. In my opinion, she should have brought somebody in as soon as I was politely arguing about the name of the drug. Instead, she just was super dismissive of me. There are gazillions of drugs in the world- Most patients know their drugs well, Any of us can make a mistake about a drug name, just own it! Ok, so this was just one incident, fine. But, They frequently can't figure out my insurance correctly, they have ordered the wrong med and not reordered the correct one. Then when I came to pick up the med, it still had to be reordered and I had to wait another 3-4 days. And when I came in to pick it up, guess what? The insurance was billed incorrectly. It's just inconsiderate and the ball was dropped by several people in that case. I have tried and tried and tried... But as I am pushed to the end of the line again for THEIR mistake, I just can't do it anymore. Even when I call ahead of time to make sure my RX is billed correctly, I wait on hold for 30+ minutes. Some of the people are VERY nice (some are not) but I am seriously going to have a heart attack one of these days bc these people can't get it correct on a consistent basis. They make mistakes more often than not and I just shouldn't have to tolerate that! I am usually very kind and forgiving, but I am encountering mistakes here, more often than not and I won't tolerate that. I see the same things happening to many others in line as well. read more

I have been coming here for years. I've never had a problem. The pharmacists are extremely helpful, go out of their way to help you if there is a problem with a med or insurance. The checkers have been there for years and are super friendly (especially the tall guy) and I have never had to wait for more than 5 mins probably. I get messages left on my cell when my prescription is ready or due. Love this feature. The store isn't huge, the cosmetic department could house some more product but I don't go there generally for that. I go pick up prescriptions, or meds, or download and print pics. This is just an FYI and a comment on what I'm sure is the obvious to anyone who shops CVS. My wife and I are seniors living in Carmel Valley. We are required by our insurer to have our prescriptions filled through CVS. If this weren't the case, we would give our business elsewhere. We receive, on a daily basis, email coupons from CVS. These offers entice us to visit CVS on Del Mar Heights Rd. just west of the 5. The daily coupons that CVS send to their customers offer 40% off any one item, 25% off entire purchase, 40% off vitamin purchase, 30%, 40% off cold and flu product, among other offers. Now my issue...... these offers all state in very fine print that the coupon cannot be used on sale item, promotional items, clearance items, etc. I went to CVS today to take advantage of several of the offers sent to me via email, namely 40% off vitamins, 40% off any one item, 25% off purchase, all expiring 12/3 or 12/4, figured we'd use them before they expire. The joke was on me. Every vitamin in the aisle was on sale voiding the enticing coupon emailed by CVS. The cold and flu aisle was basically the same with the exception that the cold and flu medicine that wasn't on sale was not in stock. I'm just hoping some day soon my insurance recognizes the bait and switch adds CVS entices their customers with and allows me to shop elsewhere. The yellow tags in the photos are the sale items. EVERYONE PLEASE READ I went to cvs pharmacy to get syringes because I am type 1 diabetic. I give myself roughly 6 shots per day. Last night I ran out. I went this morning to get more syringes and I let the dumbass lady behind the desk I am type 1 diabetic and my blood sugar is not right. I gave her my Id and health insurance card letting her know it was my first time here because I just recently moved to Del Mar. she goes to her computer and looks at me and says there's nothing I can do because you're not in our system. I told her let me talk to someone else and she told me she is the lead pharmacist. I said ok so now that you say I'm not in the system with my Id and insurance in hand, there's nothing she can do and that I'll just go home and pass out because I can't get my needles to give myself an injection of humolog to fix my blood sugar. After letting her know I'm going home to pass out from lack of insulin she replied back to me and said "ok" This lady needs to be reevaluated. She's not right for her position and needs to have her pharmacy license taken away. All she needed to do was call the number on my card and I then could have given myself the insulin I needed and carried on with my day. I had my daughter's prescription shipped to us from the store--give the social distancing going on. It was due to arrive the day after I got it filled. While tracking the package, I saw that USPS was inexplicably returning it to the pharmacy even though nothing was wrong with the package for address. I spoke with a technician in the pharmacy. She was great--concerned and on it. I asked her name and unfortunately forgot it. She called the place who handles their shipments and followed up with me within an hour. Even though I told them it was totally ok if they just try re-shipping it the next day, they went above and beyond. One of the other pharmacy employees personally drove it over to my house at the end of their shift that day. Really above and beyond. They have a new loyal customer. read more
