Oh, neighborhood bodega, how I rely on your convenient hours and willingness to put up with me when…read moreI stumble in harried/short a buck/drunk. Great spot for grabbing beer, liquor, milk, cat food, ice cream, matches, smokes, limes, pork rinds, etc. Also, how many bodegas can you buy Iams, frozen Pepperidge Farm cakes, or pints of Ben and Jerry's at? Selection ranges from ghetto to borderline upscale, with a very nice (and reasonably priced) wine selection for such a tiny store. The owner really does try to carry a wide variety of items. Must charge at least $10.00 to use a credit card, but they do have a cash station in the store. Prices are higher than at a regular store for food items, but competitive on the liquor. C'mon - where else are you gonna grab a cold Chelada and Stouffers Macaroni and Cheese at the same time - a fella's gotta make a living, right? The best thing about this store - the owner, Harry, is the greatest. Just ask him to carry something vital to your survival (Iams, Dewars, PBR were my 3 requests) and he'll bring it in. He really will, he's fantastic. The staff will gossip with you about the hood once they get to know you, they are great - this place is a neighborhood hub. Friendly, locally owned, and they carry more than the essentials - I'm going to miss living around the corner from this place.

This place is a miraculous gem of awesome fresh and organic food in the middle of a practical food…read moredesert. The closest grocery stores are Cermak Produce, some corner stores, and a Family Dollar. FoodSmart is clearly catering to the hipsters slowly moving west and south from Wicker Park and Logan Square, respectively. There's definitely a huge selection of food and liquor here for everyone, but they specialize in fresh organic food with a lot of vegetarian and vegan selections. Yay! There's a lot crammed in here, so take your time looking around. My favorite part of the store is their fresh food since they have veggies, fruits, and pre-prepared meals that have very few preservatives. Yasss! Prices are typical for the brands and quality of foods that they carry, which is great on this lonely stretch of Armitage. Liquor section is huge and there's tastings available if you want to try something. They also have a new-ish food counter where you can buy hot food and drinks while you relax in the store. I think FoodSmart has good things going on and I hope they expand and continue to offer awesome stuff in this part of the neighborhood.

Charging to use a credit card is against their agreement with credit card companies. I saw a guy who works for the city in there telling the guy they were over charging and explaining to them what they were doing was illegal.

Do not use the 7 now mobile ir delivery app. 7 11 has taken money from me without delivering all…read morethe products several times only this time they got bold and refused to proved the refund needed to rectify the situation. I placed an order that came out to $62.72. The order was so expensive because of the 2 packs of newport 100 ordered. The driver and store worker were having a dispute when the driver called me where the worker locked him out. I tried to mediate and I told the driver 4 times not to let the worker skip out on my order. The driver shows up with the juice and not the cigarettes so that I paid $62.72 for a single Simply Orange drink. I called the driver and he is laughing saying call the 800 number. I called and this morning I get an email saying that the driver says he gave me all my products. My thought is both the driver and the company are thieves. I did dispute it with my bank but I would suggest anyone using that service delete their account and any service associated with it. They have shown themselves to be unethical thieves.

You may wonder who reviews a convenience store like 7/11? Most importantly, you may ask yourself,…read morewho gives 7/11 a 5-star review. Me, I do! I love this 7/11 like its a member of my family and for my 50th review, I wanted to give this milestone to something special. You have to give it up to the staff who almost double as spirit guides/therapists handing you a slice of one dollar pizza as you struggle to find your credit card after you've paid too much for cocktails next door. They are always patient and welcoming. They even have party music on at 2am on a Friday night. Like the light of erandil guiding Frodo through shelob's lair, this 7/11 is always there for me. It's there when I drank too much and need a cup of noodles, there when I need to stifle the growing despair I feel from the impending doom of our society with a bag of lay's dill pickle chips and a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and most importantly, there when I just want to eat a $1 slice of pizza - I swear, their pizza is really just not that bad.
