FoodSmart is clearly catering to the hipsters slowly moving west and south from Wicker Park and Logan Square, respectively. There's definitely a huge selection of food and liquor here for everyone, but they specialize in fresh organic food with a lot of vegetarian and vegan selections. Yay! There's a lot crammed in here, so take your time looking around. My favorite part of the store is their fresh food since they have veggies, fruits, and pre-prepared meals that have very few preservatives. Yasss! Prices are typical for the brands and quality of foods that they carry, which is great on this lonely stretch of Armitage. Liquor section is huge and there's tastings available if you want to try something. They also have a new-ish food counter where you can buy hot food and drinks while you relax in the store. I think FoodSmart has good things going on and I hope they expand and continue to offer awesome stuff in this part of the neighborhood.

Since the medication appeared to be for bipolar disorder, I was concerned for the individual's wellbeing and wanted to do the responsible thing by getting the prescription back to them as soon as possible. I now understand that the pharmacy can only dispose of it if it was not filled at Walgreens, which I completely respect. However, the process of getting this information was extremely unpleasant. The pharmacist who first answered the call was condescending and dismissive, cutting me off before I could explain the situation. (Like I was offending her just by calling?) When I was transferred to the dispensing department, that representative also seemed disengaged and uninterested in helping. I left the conversation feeling unheard and discouraged, which was disheartening. I've been with Walgreens for years and have always had pleasant (at worst neutral) experiences. Beware of the pharmacy at this location. The Armitage location nearby is wayyyy better.

I actually like perusing this store because they have a lot of products and options. However -- the pharmacy was so slow, I actually started going to a different location. When a bunch of the CVS's closed, a handful of their pharmacies merged into this location's pharmacy, including mine. I went from a quick drive thru location right by my house to this non-drive-thru location that always has a long line and a team that looks super stressed out. I continue to shop here if I'm in the area but don't use their pharmacy and don't go out of my way to stop by anymore.
