Needing to pick up a prescription from my doctor, I ended up at this Grant Park CVS. Unfortunately, I think that it'll be my last visit to this particular location due to a few reasons. This CVS offers tons of great parking as they don't share the plaza with any other businesses, which is great in my opinion. No scrambling or scuffling for spots, just park and go. Although, if I didn't see cars in the lot, I'd think that this place was abandoned or on its way out of business due to the lackluster exterior views. Beyond the CVS sign on the building, there's little to no signage on the exterior door, causing it to look like no one's home. But of course they are. I've visited this location a few times before but recently the small inner portion of the entry has almost made me turn around. It's a small little section that only includes a complimentary sanitary hand wipe station (it was empty) and a strong scent of urine. Like, it hits you right in the face. Not a great impression when you walk in. But, I kept pushing. This store seems to rely mostly on self-checkout which gets no complaints from me, I prefer it actually. Looking at the shelves, there are a number of items that seem as though they just decided to stop restocking, leaving bare spaces in some areas. Perhaps it's supply and demand, but those shelves could use a little TLC no matter what. My most recent visits were focused on the pharmacy and can I say how much of a bummer it is to not physically feel well, decide to pick up your prescription and see that all of the pharmacy team is out to lunch at once? Lol. That team works hard and deserves even longer than an hour, but I so wish it was staggered lol. I will take most of the blame because perhaps if I had called, I would have known but if you've ever had a prescription at CVS, you know that they will badger you via text until you pick up your meds so it hadn't even crossed my mind. You all told me to come! LOL. So when I returned a few days later, I timed myself to be sure that I came after the pharmacists and techs were back from their lunches so I wouldn't be struggling and leaving without my meds again. There was a little line once they opened back up, but that's to be expected. I appreciated that they had 2 chairs available in the area, but both were in the drop-off section and there were two elderly women in front of me in the pickup line that really could have used that seating near our line. Although there were 5 people in front of me, the pharmacist(s) were working at rapid speed. The young lady that helped me was so friendly and incredibly patient with an older woman in front of me who had issues with her prescription. This 3-star review doesn't reflect the customer service and professionalism received by the pharmacists, they deserve 5-stars and a longer (staggered lol) lunch! Well, this place get's my infamous 3P rating. Piss, Poor, Pathetic. Yet again, I showed up early, checking in for my vaccine appointment, and yet again, no one bothering to call me per the directions from the text that I used to check in. Not many people in the store, I sat in a chair, right by the pharmacy for 20 minutes. This has always been a poorly run CVS that just seems to work on a routine of low motivation and no care of basic customer service. This is clearly a management issue and the current one needs to either be seriously retrained or replaced. I ended up leaving in frustration and to prevent me from chewing someone out. The last thing I need is a person sticking a needle in my arm after criticizing them. If you look at the average two star rating, you can see the consistency in how poorly this location is managed. Don't bother wasting your time here. There also have a problem with transients hanging around, living in the bathrooms, and bothering people while also casing their cars. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This is the closest pharmacy to a PHP program I'm in. My psychiatric nurse practitioner has sent in my prescriptions and the pharmacy never receives them in full. They're rude with a smile and will say that filling this prescription will be the last thing they do, that 'it might catch on fire'. If there was another pharmacy in the area, I would be going there instead. read more

Worst pharmacy around. Went to get a prescription filled and they wanted prior authorization. Asked to do self pay, they refused. What do people do when they do not have insurance? Told my doctor and he said they were outright lying to me and to choose a different pharmacy. Very rude pharmacy tech when I asked her to describe why she couldn't have self pay. I can only count on my prescription being correctly filled and on time about 50% of the time. The pharmacist is nice and seems knowledgeable, but the rest of the staff is totally unhelpful. Went here on a Saturday night to pick up a few items. As I pulled up, I thought they were closed as the store is being remodeled and is completely under construction. Nevertheless, I saw the sign that said "Open during Remodel" so I parked and went inside. It's a typical CVS, they have nothing more and nothing less than other locations. They have a decent sized parking lot, with the Red Box machine outside. I picked up my 3 items and proceeded to the register, where there was no line. The shelf tag said my items were 2/$5.00 so I picked up 3. When the items rang up, they came up $3.29 each. The cashier paged through the ad and couldn't find the sale. She then went to the item's shelf location and saw the tag. She said the sale actually starts Sunday, but due to their store being 24 hours, they put the tags out the night before. She generously honored the future sale price, saving me $3.25. No complaints here. Fast, friendly service. Cashier was super nice. Open 24 hours too and I will be back to this location! read more

I dropped off a sheet with 3 prescriptions. After standing at the drop off counter for at least 5 min, w/ nobody in front of me, the girl behind the counter (after glancing up at me a few times) finally acknowledged me and asked what I wanted. I gave her the paper noting that there were multiple prescriptions. I noticed her lack of professionalism after she asked me if I'd been to this pharmacy before, I'd been to other locations, and she didn't even glance up at my response. I had no clue if she needed anything more from me. I just stood there, asking if she needed more info... Eventually, she looked up again and said it'd be about an hour. I was irritated that it would take that long because I live about 10 minutes away, but I got over it. I returned an hour later to pick up. After looking around for a few minutes, the woman working found my prescription, singular. One. they filled 1 of the 3...in an HOUR. I asked where the other 2 were. This woman did apologize, but then told me they didn't have their regular staff, etc. I understand that substitute staff may be an issue, but at least verify that all prescriptions are filled! Fortunately, I was able to go overnight w/o those 2. However, some people cannot wait for certain meds, so this situation could have turned out much worse. Tried to have these prescriptions sent to another CVS today, and after a few hours it still hadn't transferred. The other CVS called them requesting the fax and told me they simply were just waiting on the fax, it'd only take 5 min to fill once the fax got there...5 min (Not an hour per prescription)!! (Clearly I'll be going to the Vinings location near my office instead of the Boulevard location near my home in the future). read more

I live less than a mile from this 24-hour CVS and I've made the decision to start getting my prescriptions somewhere else which says a lot from a convenience sake. This review is 100% in regards to the pharmacy-- that I have frequented once a month for the past 2 years or so. Every time I step inside this CVS is a test of my patience-- and I've come so close to absolutely losing my cool more than once. Tonight for example-- I arrive to pick up a prescription that I had ordered online 6 hours prior and was the 2nd in the pick up line. There was ONLY 1 PERSON working at the pharmacy. There were 7 people in the "drop off/consultation line" and by the time I left at least that many in the pick up line. Considering I was 2nd in the pick up line I thought I would get out of there in 5 minutes-- 30 minutes later-- I kid you not. The blame is 100% on whoever schedules the Pharmacy staff-- not the fault of the poor 1 lady that was doing her best. In fact-- everyone that I've interacted with has been very kind-- but the management here is clearly missing the goal of customer satisfaction. read more

This place is dirty and sometimes the "clientele" makes me a bit nervous but this place seriously has everything you could possibly need at 11:30 at night when you all of a sudden you remember that you HAVE to have it. I've made many a trips to this place to grab Gatorade, tortilla chips, Diet Rockstars, and/or makeup. My roommate goes here every time she needs cash (because the Bank of America on Moreland is sketch city). It's convenient. And it's pretty spectacular for people watching. Beware. The CVS pharmacy at Grant Park just filled my mother's blood pressure prescription with a blood sugar pill. Luckily, she is still pretty with it and noticed that the pills looked strange. Upon calling CVS, she was simply told she would need to return the container of pills before they would fill her blood pressure prescription. There was no apology or admission of wrong doing. I don't understand how a pharmacist can react without concern to such a serious error. smh... read more

If you call the pharmacy just know an employee will not pick up. You will be on hold until you're ready to hang up. They won't have your prescriptions ready. Choose another CVS if you need medicine or just go to an entire different business. I would've gave them a -1 if it was an option. read more

This CVS off of Boulevard is nestled in a residential neighborhood. It's an older establishment. It seems to be well stocked and neat. I find that CVS prices are too high. However, I will go there to take advantage of certain deals and sales that they have. On occassion, they will have a sale and then offer Extra Bucks. Extra Bucks are like cash and the amount prints on your receipt which you redeem on your next visit. For example, I bought a multi-pack of toothpaste for $3.79 and got Extra Bucks for $3 off my next visit. This means I paid .79 for the toothpaste in the end. I likey. The employees at this location were very friendly. Parking is fine for this location. Oh, for Extra Bucks you need to sign up for their savings program at the store and then have your card scanned by the cashier. Of course, it's free. read more

Perhaps it's because it's a 24 hour location.... perhaps. When it comes down to it, this CVS is kinda sad times. Yes, the staff is friendly, especially the older dude behind the front counter who VERY methodically puts everything into a bag and genuinely smiles ear to ear while thanking you for your business, but everything seems like a regular CVS -1. No windows on the side. No drive thru. Almost always a long line at the counter. They have those grade D electronics playing some TV station or one of the employees iPods. It is clean. It has goods and services. Pharmacy works. But it also almost always has someone who has seen better times out front asking if you can "help out a vet" or "spare some cash". It's like it's constantly 70% of what you'd expect. +? They added milk to their reportoire. I guess that's handy. Also, it's really the only drugstore around, so it's sort of resting on it's laurels with a beer in its hand without thoughts of working out in a gym....ever. --Edit. I just bumped it down to a one because of the service on the weekends. Literally terrible, non communicative and ignoring of the little buttons they have peppered around the store for service. read more

Add to that the fact that this place is open 24 hours, has unlimited parking, and is also walking distance from my house and it's no wonder this is my go-to CVS. This is truly a place to people watch. If you come here after 7 on a Friday night, you can see plenty of Faces of Meth in the building buying CVS-brand chips. The cashiers in the front of the store are absolutely awesome and really make the lines go pretty quick. However, make sure you bring your Kindle if you are merely picking up a refill in the pharmacy. They are slow and there's usually only ONE cashier, even when there are 6 people in the line. read more

The convenience of this location cannot be argued. We go all the time for quick or late night items. The cashiers at the front are super friendly and if you go often enough, they will remember what kind of cigs to pull out before you even ask. And the crowd is indeed diverse and fun to watch. The pharmacy, on the other hand, is deplorable. The customer service at the pharmacy is completely nonexistent. Upon receiving an offer in the mail that would provide gift cards to those who transferred their prescriptions, we made the switch. There's a reason they have to offer you something in exchange for that switch, as you would never do so on your own. The pharmacists we dealt with were rude on their best days. When calling in a prescription, we were put on hold for 10+ minutes and then hung up on after providing name, DOB, and prescription number. As expected, the prescription was not ready when we went in to pick it up the next day. They refused to call to verify insurance information, and attempted to get us to pay full price for something covered under a great prescription plan. Bottom line - go here for your nonprescription needs. And be sure to tip the doorman (AKA the really nice "down on his luck" guy outside awaiting your change). read more

There's nothing wrong with this CVS at all! I waited a few visits to be sure I wasn't missing something, due to some of the previous reviews. I've been at different hours of the day and night, and on different days of the week. I have yet to be asked for change in front of the store or in the parking lot. The pharmacy is just fine. The pharmacists are usually busy, but I've not had a problem getting one to speak with me, and take time to help with situations I've had. Actually, Vernecia is great at this location, and they are lucky to have her. The pharm techs are usually overworked and stressed so they may come off a bit sharp, but not rude. I actually like Miss Shawna. Drop by and see her! I call my prescriptions in a day in advance, then I call and speak with someone to verify that they are ready prior to driving over to pick them up. I also like dealing with Keesha in the pharmacy here. If you need something done efficiently, she's your go to staff member. Front of store staff are always pleasant, and funny if you engage in conversation. They take time to assist with that silly photo machine, and will help you locate items on the floor versus the usual "I don't know". Miss Phyllis should have her own comedy show- what a cool and funny lady. Makes it fun to stop by. Now. The bathroom. Do NOT use the bathroom at this location under ANY circumstance. This is a 24 hour location, and as such has a transient population that has adopted the restrooms as their own. There are no others in the area, even the gas station next door doesn't have "public" restrooms. So, keeping this restroom clean at all times would require a bathroom attendant, and they don't have one. Really. DON'T GO IN THERE. You have been warned. Just hold it. Deduct a star. This place is disgusting. There is a always a person asking for change on the sidewalk in front of the store. Once you past that hurdle, you are welcomed into a giant armpit of a drug/convenience store. There must be rule that you cannot any education or intelligence to work here. Or any manners. Took literally three times to get my prescription filled. I am telling you, this place is horrible. You do not want to go here unless absolutely necessary. The worst CVS pharmacy I've been to. Don't know if the staff is just incompetent or just plain lazy... Or both. Healthcare insurance is hard enough to navigate and they are absolutely no help. I was told 3 different methods to get my medication passed, all of which were wrong. They won't let u know when ur paying full price until u get there and need it. Don't expect it to open on time and staff stops working 30 min before close. This is all over multiple times. Why did I keep coming back? I had a problem with a prescription that I needed to take to an appointment. I was a couple of hours from my appointment and the associate was no help at all! He was nonchalant, lackluster, did not articulate when he spoke, and all around unhelpful! After a few minutes with him I motioned the pharmacist to come and help me. That's when it ask turned around. He was very pleasant, articulate, helpful, caring, knowledgeable, disarming, and he moved with purpose. He called around to several pharmacies, even ones outside of CVS, to find who had my prescription in stock. Once he found a place, he made the transfer and everything was seemless from there! The pharmacist's service was exemplary! No complaints there. They should get rid of the black guy up there who talks like he has a mouth full of tissue. He is indeed making the entire pharmacy look bad. read more
