When I was a kid I'd go with my Gramma to the Walgreens, near her house in San Francisco. It was…read morealways an adventure with toys and aisles filled with candy, chips and other goodies. This Walgreens tears that fun memory to pieces. To begin with there are rough looking people all over the parking lot and wandering through the store; I'm fine with that, I've lived in cities most of my life and everyone needs to shop. But the store treats every customer like someone sketchy . I'd say that 90% of the items are behind glass, even innoucuous stuff like deodarant. It's a wonder the employees get any work done because they're always being interrupted with customers needing access to something. The check out on a Sunday was ridiculous, one (very slow) woman working the front. And, no surprise, she couldn't even be bothered to say hello until I asked her how her day was. She just stared at me while her POS refused to read my card, which seems to be a common problem at the Walgreens in this city. One thing they DO still have are great deals if you use the loyalty card. So I bought two 12 packs of Coke and two 8 pack of LaCroix two for one. But this meant I needed a cart. The problem with that is that you can't take the cart out of the store. So after taking 30 seconds blocking the door trying to get out (and making a drunk woman mumble curses at me) the super friendly security guard offered to help me to my car.So the security guard gets one of the stars. , And there were two teen age sisters buying tons of candy in front of me. They'd obviously been given money to spend on whatever they wanted and they were having a great time, which reminded me of those fun days with my gramma as a kid. So they get the other star. Otherwise I'm steering clear of this dreadful location.

In the last few months I have had variations of the same issue:…read more1. Place order for a refill. 2. Recieve automated message saying refill is ready. 3. Go to Walgreens wait in line (10 - 20 minutes). 4. Get to front, find out the order is not ready...but if I am willing to wait 20 more minutes it can be. 5. Leave because of work or other appointment. 6. Return when my schedule permits...to be told they canceled the order because it was not picked up.

I've been shopping at this Smith's five to seven days a week for the last three years. The staff is…read moreon point, the store is always clean and pleasant, I've not once had something I was looking for be out of stock. The guy behind the deli counter provides exemplary customer service, as does the bakery department. All of the cashiers are extraordinarily personable and willing to provide any assistance when asked. The lines move swiftly and the self-checkout always has one or more helpful employees on the spot. The long running employees are a staple of the neighborhood community and the newer ones are always bright and hard-working which speaks highly of the hiring manager. All of the employees are great to have around, even the quieter ones. Lastly, in a neighborhood that can be a little intimidating to some, the security team keeps an excellent eye on everybody and everything. Thanks to them I feel absolutely safe while shopping there, which unfortunately I am unable to to say about some neighborhoods. You can tell that the entire staff cares a whole lot about the well-being of the store, the neighborhood and the community. Long live "Ghetto" Smith's, the heart of the Student Ghetto.

I don't come often to Walgreens but I am glad to see they still have their doors open. At least this location still did anyways. I know some other ones are only offering curbside and drive thru pickup. So I am glad to see these guys still open to walk in. They are a bit pricey compared to going to Target or Walmart when it comes to certain items but it's the price you pay for convenience. Granted they have a great selection of cold drinks to buy and a large selection of over the counter drugs as well as cosmetic and candies along with many other novelties all in one roof. Again I don't come often but one thing I can say is they are very friendly at this location and the selection of products they offer is convenient for someone who is on the go and needs to be in and out. Sometimes they have great sales promotions and a rewards program for those interested in earning enough points to possibly cover their next visit. Thanks Walgreens I'll definitely be returning!

While the "Ghetto" Smiths on Yale and Coal may take the prize for sketchy clientele this location certainly compares. Lock your car. Hide any valuables. Watch your ass. Now let me say this in no way affects the employees. I've only encountered helpful friendly workers. Ample variety and spacious isles. Solid merchandising. Prices comparable to other groceries. Now lets talk about you. Why are you researching a grocery store? Don't we all just go to the closest store? I'm not loyal to any of the Morman owned grocery marts. Honestly, who cares? This Smiths is fine. Plenty of parking as this plaza is basically a ghost town since the gas station and Hastings closed. Smiths. Nuff said.
