It is small, and may not have everything you're looking for that you can get at a chain drug store, but it's personable and the pharmacist knows his stuff. They spend the time you need to understand a new medication or vaccine they provide. They know you by name and care. If they don't carry something, they will order it for you. The location is perfect. It's Downtown and a couple of doors down from Silver Street Market in the Imperial Building. It's around the corner from the post office and an easy walk to the Alvarado Transportation Center. Those who live in the building, across the street, or nearby don't need to walk far to get the care they need. I don't live that close, but it's worth the longer walk or short car ride.

I have an issue with my Eustachian tubes (combat vet). I needed a med compounded. Not only was the pharmacist not available to answer my questions about the medication, the counter clerk tried to placate me that "he knew but couldn't tell me." They had me waiting for 45 mins while they were just walking around. The place was empty. Then, the nasal spray they gave me for my nose came in a regular spray bottle . Using it there was ZERO control, which made the medication spray into my eye. I flooded my eye, but the dangerous compound landed me in the ER. The doctors at the ER were DUMBFOUNDED as to WHY they would release a nasal prescription in a format that was not fitted for the nose. They suggested going on Amazon and buying "proper packaging," and also suggested I write a formal complaint to the licensing board. I could go blind. Not to mention the shelves were barren, the staff was rude, and they messed up my medication. 0/10- when going somewhere for your health, choose ANY PLACE but here as they might make it worse, or even blind you.

This Walgreens tears that fun memory to pieces. To begin with there are rough looking people all over the parking lot and wandering through the store; I'm fine with that, I've lived in cities most of my life and everyone needs to shop. But the store treats every customer like someone sketchy . I'd say that 90% of the items are behind glass, even innoucuous stuff like deodarant. It's a wonder the employees get any work done because they're always being interrupted with customers needing access to something. The check out on a Sunday was ridiculous, one (very slow) woman working the front. And, no surprise, she couldn't even be bothered to say hello until I asked her how her day was. She just stared at me while her POS refused to read my card, which seems to be a common problem at the Walgreens in this city. One thing they DO still have are great deals if you use the loyalty card. So I bought two 12 packs of Coke and two 8 pack of LaCroix two for one. But this meant I needed a cart. The problem with that is that you can't take the cart out of the store. So after taking 30 seconds blocking the door trying to get out (and making a drunk woman mumble curses at me) the super friendly security guard offered to help me to my car.So the security guard gets one of the stars. , And there were two teen age sisters buying tons of candy in front of me. They'd obviously been given money to spend on whatever they wanted and they were having a great time, which reminded me of those fun days with my gramma as a kid. So they get the other star.
