Sorry to give this place a bad review as I'm a strong supporter of organic salons.
However, day after cut I woke up to find my hair was way way way shorter than I asked for.
I wanted to treat myself, with my birthday coming up, wanting to look nice
and this had the complete opposite and somewhat depressive effect.
There was major miscommunication between me and stylist
- I've got short hair and said I wanted it shortened in the back,
didn't mind how short it got there,
but wanted the rest of it long since I want to soon grow it out;
that I hadn't had a professional haircut in about 4 months
(my sister's been cutting the hair in the back, felt like a waste of ~£35 just to trim half an inch in the neck every 3 weeks).
I also expressed how I liked that my hair felt really full and thick,
despite having very fine, blond hair.
Stylist interpreted this as:
short eeeverywhere except fringe at the very front with half-inch long bits at the top
(that with my fine hair quality are living their own life in a very unflattering manner),
that I hadn't had a professional haircut in YEARS and then thinned it out terribly
so now it feels like I've got almost no hair left.
She was also not very interested in conversing at all until I started asking HER questions
(I'm used to hair stylists being very amicable and quite keen on talking).
I perceived stylist as a bit aloof in general, being very engaged in other things going on in the salon while she was cutting my hair as well,
I don't know about you but I prefer someone who has sharp scissors close to my face and ears to be present with what they're doing.
I emailed them a couple of days later, after I'd debated with myself quite a bit,
coming to the conclusion that I'm actually allowed to complain about things like this.
They offered me a complimentary haircut with the same stylist,
that I could come in and she could rectify.
To me this doesn't make much sense since I don't want them to cut my hair EVEN shorter.
Plus, I don't feel comfortable going back to the same stylist with whom I obviously don't speak the same language...
I asked instead for a refund of my money but they wouldn't agree to this as the haircut
was made to a "high standard".
Hmm. I'm wondering who should actually be the judge of that?
I'm an easy-going, easy-to-please person that has had my hair cut all over the world
and I've never been dissatisfied with a haircut before.
I feel sad to give this place a bad rep,
but the harsh truth is I can't recommend this place and I won't be going back. read more
