I was recently recommended to go RUSH hair salon on North Street. After reading some of the reviews, i was slightly hesitant i have to say!!! But a good friend persueded me to give it a whirl!!!
I'm quite a particular client, and have tried most of the salons in Brighton, and the surrounding area.... all of which have left me a little deflated when it came to offering me advice on what would suit me best! I'm not great at explaining what it is i want. So this sometimes leads me to getting something i wasn't quite looking for.
I had a 12.15 appointment, but got there early as i hate to be late! I was greeted at reception by a very smiley guy, who looked very busy, he said he wouldn't be a moment... and he wasn't :)
He had one of the juniors take me over to a seat, where they took my belongings to hang up, i got offered refreshments and something to read while i waited.
It was particularly busy, and i did wonder if this would be the down fall of my appointment, i hate being kept waiting!...... But my stylists came over a couple of minutes past my actual appointment time and she told me she wouldn't keep me waiting much longer ( i thought this was good to be acknowledged)
Once she was finished with her previous client, she came back to me, we had a full consultation, where she asked me lot's of questions about what i liked about my hair, also what my "problem" area's were... and what i envisioned my final look to be!!! We also spent some time looking through a few hair magazines! I was quite surprised she had enough time spare to do all this...but i didn't feel as if she had to be else where which was nice!
My shampoo was pretty normal.. i had a good head massage, was offered some form of deep conditioner (which i declined) The junior although seemed quited shy, held a pleasant conversation, asked me about my plans for the rest of the day etc
Once back to my stylist, she clarified what we were going to do ( a very short elfin type crop :0 ) and asked how my shampoo was!!
The salon does run at a fast pace, and i wouldn't recommend going peak hours on a saturday if you want this to be a peaceful quiet experience!! it is only small in size (although must be popular to be heaving at the brims like it was!!) I on the other hand work in Central London so i'm used to busy places, and quite enjoy the buzz of all the people!
During my hair cut, we chatted about general things, she asked about my life and what i did for work. I did get told about a few things i could be doing at home to protect my hair from heat, and advise on styling. She did advise some home care products that would be good for me, but there was no hard sale, and once they had been explained nothing was pushed upon me!! This is a massive plus for me!! I felt comfortable that she knew what she was doing and once i could see the shape developing, i sat and relaxed... which i haven't done in any salon for a long time :)
Overall, my experience was a good one!! My haircut is FANTASTIC, and i DID buy some new products to go with my new hair!!! I did rebook on the advise of my stylist... i think they do give you a % off for rebooking in advance.... but i would've gone back anyway! If my haircut is as brilliant as it was this time, which i'm confident it will be... i will be a RUSH customer for a long time to come!
I'm glad i took a chance on this place, and didn't take note of what i've read! Yes the above may or may not be true, but they might also be the only few unfortunate occasions in what these kind of things have happened...!
I work in the retail industry and it will never fail to amaze me how people would rather write up something bad than praise 1 good point!!! If my customers have a problem they know they can call me and i will fix it!!! No one at RUSH gave me the impression they wouldn't do the same.....My advice is give them a try!! I'm sure you won't be dissappointed!!! read more
