I was the most confused by the smoked beef. It reminded me of some meat I had in Italy that was black but not charred and melted when I bit into it. I almost ordered fries but when I shifted to beans and rice, out of fairness to tradition, I got a nod of approval. But, I have a feeling I would have gotten one no matter what I did, because of patience and kindness of these Lost Burro folks. The rice was middling but those beans - didn't taste as though they'd ever seen the inside of a can. Thick, rich and flavorful. I ordered a side of consume, just because it was bone broth, and I hadn't seen that before. It was tasty, but I realized more prefer a red broth with big chunks of stewed beef. I will judge you unkindly if you give me a Jamaica that is just one step up from Koolaid. Nah, these folks had me wash it all down with icy cold tea goodness, with a star anise waiting for me at the bottom of my cup. I wish I did not live an hour away. It's not fair.
