For nails however it is very important to have a clean environment- the fools were not sanitized, rusted, and the application was blotchy. I couldn't get over the horrible smell, dirt, dust. Bio gel, yes? Bio gel yes! Best manicure ever, yes? SO yes! Briefly, a bank teller's nails were SO beautifully manicured ~ much longer than mine ~ that I had to ask, and she said, "Bio gel!" Those were actually her own nails, and she swore that it was the bio gel that helped her grow them so long and strong. SOoooo, after reading about bio gel and then looking ALL OVER yelp for a place that offered it on the Westside (for some reason, they all seem to be up in the Valley or near DTLA), I found this one place in Santa Monica. AND they could take me on a Sunday afternoon. Who knew from the plain, (very) unpretentious storefront on Lincoln that this is where I'd get the most detailed, personalized, attentive manicure of my life ~ and that includes regular, gel, and powder-dip manis in dozens of different places. The interior of the shop is, I gotta be frank, not quite your average Westside mani-and-martini kind of place. Not even close. But Anh (I hope I'm spelling it right) was the first person ever to take a close look at my nails and notice that they tend to go up a bit at the tips (so THAT's why my polish always wore off quickly at the ends!). So she got to work with the bio gel (and she had lots of colors of both the Bio Sculpture and the Bio Seaweed kinds) and meticulously, painstakingly built up my nails so that they were flat before layering on the color (you can't really tell from the picture, but it's kind of iridescent) and top coat. And all this with such a sweet, upbeat demeanor. Thank goodness it was a Sunday and all I had to do after was some grocery shopping, because the whole thing, including removing the regular gel I had on, took two and a half hours. She did say that she could work faster if I needed her to, but heck, it was Sunday and the groceries could wait a day ~ I was getting the best manicure of my life! read more

Kind of wanted to gatekeep this place, but I have too much love for this salon to not share. After searching for a reasonably priced and decent nail salon in venice for over a year, I stumbled across cute nail on yelp and decided to check them out. I had previously been going to Venice Soleil which always made me wait at least 30 minutes to be seen even with an appointment and I was never happy with the overpriced results. That is not the case at Cute Nail! Anh is truly the sweetest woman ever and I can't say enough good things about her. She lights up the entire salon and makes everyone that enters feel so welcome. My acrylics stayed on for weeks and did not chip. The prices are about 30% lower than anywhere else I've found and although it isn't as "luxury" as the expensive spots, I'll take great work and great service over fake marble and cheap wine any day. read more

Recently moved back to LA from SF and looked for a place to get my nails done here and decided to check this out because I needed something done for a friend's wedding. TL;Dr: DONT GO HERE. It's not worth your money. I've been getting gel manicures almost every month for the past two years and I've never had gel that comes off like this (peeling from the sides) in less than a week (check out the pictures). My gel manicures always last me at least 3weeks and this one came off in 6 days! The signs were there that I shouldn't have sat down and gotten them done but I was desperate. Let me break this down: 1) their instruments aren't in any sort of individual bag or look like they've been prepped. They're just in a plastic drawer! As a healthcare provider i was already skeeved out at this and started praying I wouldn't get an infection, but I was sitting there at the chair with my hands soaking. What am I supposed to do? 2) never have I EVER had someone (the lady's name was Van) put a bonding solution and then a clear top coat over it then have me put it under the UV light before any color. EVER. What the hell is the polish going to bind to if you put a top coat on first?? And let me clarify: I had smooth nails before I walked in so this wasn't a filler that she put. It was a top coat before the color. OF COURSE it's going to peel! 3) the nail color went all the way to my skin unevenly. Like the finishes on the top of the nail and on the sides were so messy so again, of course it's going to peel because the color isn't bonded to the nails properly if they touch the skin around the nail 4) I've had more hangnails around my cuticles after this appointment than I ever had. What is the point of going for a manicure if they're going to be messing up your cuticles? 5) the color on the swatches they show you do NOT match what your final result is. I was going for a dusty lavender and came out with nails that looked like I had dipped them in a a vat of Crayola's purple-mountains-majesty. After a few days either I got used to the color or it set better but either way: don't trust the swatch. 6) I paid $30 for this shit. That's how much I paid in SF for a manicure that lasted me 3 weeks without any peeling. The prices weren't even posted anywhere. Long story short: DONT GO HERE. It's so expensive for the worse than shit job they do on your nails. I'm never going back. read more

This was the best gel manicure I've ever had. 3 weeks in, and my hand (the one I didn't try to de-gel myself) is unchipped and perfect. My nails have grown out almost a quarter inch with no damage to the manicure. The hand I did try to remove myself has very minimal damage to the nail beds. I couldn't get all the gel off in one go, but I will definitely be going back to these professional people again and again. They also offer other services - massage, etc. I haven't tried those but other clients seem to like them. When you get a mani-pedi here, you don't just get some nail polish slapped on. I get regular mani-pedi's and I have found they last longer and are very attractive. My pedicures last until they grow out, no chipping or peeling. The staff at Cute Nails also shines when it comes to personal decoration. They offer hand painted delicate florals and attached diamonds, both of which do not come off until they are removed. I am troubled. The woman that provided my service was great but the owner and some guy named Tom were SUPER weird about the space. Instead of sharing his work station because he had a pedicure coming in, I had to have my nails done on a board with a towel and two stack crates.
