I came here a few months ago and loved my pedicure with Julie, which is why I decided to come back and specifically asked for her again. Julie did my pedicure, but another technician did my manicure. She came over after working on another client and was about to use the same tools from the cart. I had to ask for clean tools, and after that she didn't acknowledge me for the rest of the appointment. The gel manicure itself was disappointing. My nails are unevenly shaped, some areas near the cuticles and sides weren't even fully painted, and the polish already started chipping the same day. I got them done around 4pm and they were chipping by 8pm. Julie's pedicure was just okay this time, better than the manicure but not as good as my first visit. For $120 for a basic gel mani/pedi with no extras, the quality and hygiene were disappointing. I won't be returning. Had a fantastic experience at artistic nails on Montana. I got my gel ex removed on a Friday evening, did not need an appointment. I think this has to have been my best experience getting gel ex removed! I had been growing my nails underneath my gel manicure and asked the lady to be careful not to shave off too much of my nails as I really wanted my real nails to still look good and healthy, she did such a detailed and patient job. She alternated between acetone and buffing my nails like 3 or four times and shaped them really well. My natural nails look absolutely stunning, and healthy! This place is also priced right. I've been coming here for about a year to get my nails done and I've always been very happy with the results. I always ask for Katie. She does such an amazing job every time. I personally like to get dip nails, and she's definitely the person to ask for if you like getting dip. Her work is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also long lasting, usually lasting me about 3-4 weeks. Artistic Nails is also kept very clean and the staff is always welcoming. They also offer free candy and water which is a nice added bonus. My only complaint is that the chairs aren't the most comfortable, but they do such a great job (especially Katie) that I will still give them the full 5 stars. read more

This place is the best! I recently came here for an eyebrow waxing, my first ever, and I'm glad I did. Jamie, the shop's owner, did my eyebrows and she's the kindest, sweetest soul with a gentle touch. She made the process super easy, relaxing, and my eyebrows turned out great! She's a true, talented artist when it comes to nails as well. The shop is clean, the workers are friendly, and it's in a great area with walkable stores and restaurants. I made an appointment to get my nail polish removed from hands and feet for a religious ceremony, called in advance, and they stated to come in at 530pm. then afterwards, when I came in, they said they were too busy even though i made an appointment. I'm always here getting mani and pedi with my close girlfriend. This has been my covid nails go to because they have an enormous balcony and spread out to safely do your nails. Ask for their stamp card every time you go so you can save for a free manicure. Small parking space in the back but plenty of street parking. I really like the way the owner's daughter repairs my nails and Jenny and Julie's manicure. Leo is good too. Actually they all are but those are a few of my faves. Just discovered a red that I fell in love with called "Big Apple Red" it's like the Ferrari red which looks amazing!! They are ALWAYS accommodating here. I love T - he does acrylic for me (which I am very picky about, as I like very natural, which is hard to accomplish with acrylic). I need acrylic because gels tend to crack (wherever I go) with my job - I use my hands for work a lot. I wind up getting the works every time, including the scrub/massage and paraffin. I only gave this 4 stars because after a while, the seats are not the most comfortable, but they do add pillows and are 100% attentive, nice and fun. Everyone seemed lovely and the place is clean but unfortunately my gel manicure started chipping on day 5 with one full nail peeling right off. My gels manicures usually last 2-3 weeks from other salons. I'm not sure if it was just an isolated incident but I don't recommend coming here before a trip or important event. read more

If you do dip DO NOT go here!!! Their nail tech was extremely inexperienced using the drill. When removing my old dip polish he did not let it soak off long enough in acetone and instead used the drill so much that my nails were paper thin and flimsy after. The tech was incredibly rude and tried to blame my nails being naturally thin which is not the case. I have done dip for 5+ years and have never had my nails feel this weak after a tech uses a drill. We'll I don't even know where to start... ok first of all I neeeever leave bad reviews. And I'm not a difficult customer either, I typically just like regular old natura look. I came in for gel x to give my beautiful long natural nails some extra protection from breakage (nothing too complicated) and omg this was the worst job I have ever seen in my life. They put too much glue that my nails look like they have fungus, they then followed up by filing my neural nail, the one thing I told them not to do. I don't recommend ever getting gel x here unless your willing to spend $80 bucks then having to spend more $ to go to another place to fix their bad job. read more

I can't say how much my experience has improved from my first visit. Leo absolutely knocked this one out of the park. This design is NOT EASY. He had so much attention to detail and put up with my fidgety butt. While the very kind & patient Jenny revived my toes from the depths of whatever cave Sméagol crawled out of. She not only took wonderful care of my toes she also repainted a toe I messed up after she had already finished which was entirely my fault. This is a great salon. I'LL NEVER COME BACK! I received my worst nail experience at Artistic Nails. I came here to do a gel French manicure for my wedding. It started with my nail lady Maly cutting too much skin off and caused me to bleed. Then I asked her to do a thicker and demonstrating on my finger that I means the width of the white portions. Of course she nods that she understands and proceeds. When she paints one layer, I ask why she didn't paint it the way I wanted, she says she'll do it on the next round. Then instead of even having two coats on the white portion she proceeds to the top coat. I needed to say what I needed again and she was so dismissive about it. I had to reiterate again what I meant and after showing a picture to the receptionist did she figure it out. She paints my nails crooked and when I tell her she did, she speaks Vietnamese to the other nail person and they both laugh, saying my nail is crooked. The problem was she painted every nail crooked the white slanting on one side or the other. This also includes her putting the alcohol for my for French in the cut she made. I ended up with super thick over-coated (to fix all her mistakes, including forgetting the sides of 8/10 nails) and every arch being crooked. This super sloppy service, plus regular pedi was $64. I was super nice about this, but no one at the salon was being helpful or even felt bad about this. If you want quality nails go to Azure Nails instead, which I'll be going back to. This used to be my favorite nail salon but the quality has gone down extremely in the past couple visits. Always super rushed, no attention to detail and lack of options when it comes to colors. The last time they cut my cuticle so badly it wouldn't stop bleeding for the entire appointment. The mani and pedi only took around 30 minutes, which didn't even start right at my appointment time, so you know it was rushed. I opted out of my nails being painted as my nail was still bleeding and they still made me pay full price. Unfortunately I will not be going back here. Plus they only take cash, no card or even Venmo which seems shady to me. read more

AVOID: AND DO NOT GET DIP HERE!!!! My tech is one of the most experienced there and he did not know what he was doing. He was also so forceful with my fingers and they hurt after. I have had dip for years and I know he was taking shortcuts. First they soak your nails is a bowl of acetone (yuck!) instead of applying cotton and foils to each nail. The dip brand they use is cheap (not OPI or a known brand). They don't know how to file it down smooth so each nail turned out thick bumpy and uneven. Then instead of applying the dip clear over he tried to do gel clear. I don't like the light for gel since it ages your hands. He used the dip clear and it turned out embarrassingly horrible. The clear started chipping off the same day. I went back and asked them to redo it. Instead of taking it all off he just filed it down (unevenly again) and applied the gel clear. After 2 days, it chipped. Because the dip brand is so cheap and was not done properly. Mind you I got my wedding nails done here but I'm so DONE with this place now. It has gone majorly downhill. (I'm very particular and critical of shape cause so many salons do such a poor job). And Molly did my neck/shoulder massage. I don't usually get them during manicures but wow am I glad I did! I have been to Artistic Nails 3 times; twice for gel manicure & regular pedi and once for gel-x. I got the same lady for both pedicures and each time I had to ask if she was going to clean the nail polish off the edges and parts that weren't the tow nail. When I asked another woman came and cleaned it up which I appreciated. My gel manicures were done very well except my nails were never the same shape. Unfortunately the gel-x is the reason I can't go back. The man who did my nails did the gel-x over my cuticle so rather then looking natural they look like I used press on nails. I have also only had them for 10 days and because they are over my cuticle they are already starting to lift, these are supposed to last longer than 10 days. He also used so much gel under the nail & wouldn't file it off so I have clumps of hard gel under my nails making it hard to keep them clean. I am aware of the cost of gel-x and have no problem paying but it's disappointing that I paid almost $100 (not including the tip) to have my nails look like press on nails. I had a pedicure ($20) and paid for my darling's manicure ($14). No massage chairs. Instead I had a pan with blue water to soak my feet in. BOOOOO. The service, the massage, and the quality were all meh. The view from the first chair was nice; it overlooked Montana Street. The nail techs were friendly, except for the soccer moms, giving me their stink eyes. Just because I can speak Vietnamese to my peeps, don't HATE. I was offered water and gossip magazines. I'm giving Artistic Nails 2 stars. And I will explain why. Pro's: - My manicure (French tip) came out nice. I love it. - The salon was located on beautiful Montana Avenue. So I expected a slightly high-end place which it wasn't all that much. But it was still nice and clean. Cons: - when I came in, there seemed to have been a birthday party going on (during business hours.) I called ahead and A lady told me to come in at 5:00. I came in a few minutes after 5 PM and the party was still partially happening. I walked to the front counter to be assisted but NONE of the employees noticed me. Not even the owner. I stood there for about 5 long minutes. - The place was loud with all the kids running around and such. I didn't have that relaxed feeling people normally have when going to the nail salon. I guess I just came on a bad day? - I HATE when the employees speak Chinese to each other right in front of you while working on your mani/pedi. It's so rude. And that's what the two people did here that were working on me. - My fingernails are so sore because Heidi (the woman who did my mani) used her own damn fingernails to push back my cuticles instead of using a proper tool!!! My pinky finger bled and now all my fingers hurt. - Lastly, some of the employees were lazy. One lady was giving me dirty looks and seemed to be talking badly about the owner when she left.
