It's the sort of place you'd expect to find failed artists and poets mulling over their next move, and, indeed, on my visit for a coffee, I clocked a couple of people of this breed. Prima, or Primas as it's known across, um, Ripon, seems to go in and out of fashion with every season. Sometimes it'll be rammed, others you'll be the only couple/group in there. Still, mind, Franco - the friendly patron of the place - will treat you like kings and queens. The restaurant's worth a visit just for him alone and his enthusiasm, whether false or genuine. Now, Everything seems such a stress. There always used to be a bit of a language barrier, which had never been an issue, more of a thing to enjoy with the host and the party. But now, it all seems quite awkward and false. Without going into great detail, I visited Prima three times over the last six months (In my 30 years I have eaten there scores of meals there, all of which I had a very very pleasant experience). The last three times I have experienced a very rude reception, an even ruder waiter, and very poor service, and quality of food. In all, a very sad experience. What used to be a lovingly established place to meet and eat will, no doubt, turn into another empty commercial premises, due to apathy.

Both of us fell silent whilst devouring the food, with the exception of customary food-appreciation noises, and both were very very good. The reason for the lower marks on the * rating is that the waiting on staff didn't get the order right in the first place and so we had to wait an extra 10 minute for mine to arrive (mixed up the reading of the order of gratin and chops with gratin and chips) and so when one incorrect dish arrived and the young lady realised there were two at the table, Richard's dinner was taken back and said it would be kept warm until mine arrived. Not brilliant but I suppose the positive that old style "writing down" an order by hand and not computerised is something to take from this family run business, and that they give a young person an opportunity to learn and earn (the young lady was clearly very new) is to be praised. We arrived just after 8 pm and had a lovely table by the front of the restaurant. The decor is very traditional with painting and artefacts of Iran. I wasn't keen on the small TV above the door but it turned out to be a godsend as the Iranian male wasn't too bothered about joining into the conversations. There were 3 other tables dining (2 British customer and a table of assumed Iranian's). it was enough to create a decent atmosphere but also to ensure we had plenty of attention. The restaurant does not have a licence to sell alcohol as in advance I had purchased some wine to match the flavours of Persian cuisine. There is a £3.00 corkage fee which I would of disputed if we would have bought numerous soft drinks but we only had saffron tea and coffee to complete the meal so I believed the charge as justifiable. The food was delicious and I polished off the boys main meals too. We ordered 2 starters between 3 and these came with 2 massive freshly made Arabic knobz bread, followed by 1 stew and 2 kebabs between us and rice. The price was £38.00 in total and we left a tip. I am due to make a return visit with my Boss on a Wednesday at the beginning of April!

The prices (as we noticed when we got the bill) are actually rather steep for such a restaurant, and it is usually impossible to park anywhere near the place due to its Headingley location. Oh to have that personal touch without compromising quality. Well I think I may be onto something and it's Kasa Rosa. In the heart of Morley, it's a warm welcome place and the staff are very friendly. It's a combination of Mediterranean cuisines all fused together using local fresh ingredients and going big on the taste. The anti pasta choice is quite simply delicious. Try some seafood, the homemade breads or pates or deep fried brie. The pasta kicks some real flavour too and although the pizza selection isn't massive, they are a more than pleasant option. It's the tapas that is a real winner though. Lots to choice from and a real authentic tasting selection of Spain, all brought with a smile and a glass of vino. Bliss.
