1 star is overly generous, I visited this establishment with some friends from Manchester, we are used to eating Tapas and were looking forward to what should have been a great night out.
What a letdown it was, firstly the dishes on the specials menu are not individually priced, it merely states they are between £5 and £20, but when you order you really are taking a stab in the dark.
The beef was poor, appeared to be cheap pre sliced, pre packaged, not as described. The chorizo in wine was bitter and tasted as if it were made with cheap tinned tomatoes, the dip with the prawns was completely flavourless and the prawns were over cooked. We ordered olives and chillies as a side and they had no chillies, only the Jalapeño chillies available on the specials menu, at up to 8 times the price.
The portion sizes are far, far too big for tapas, the food lacks flavour and authenticity and is more general than a specialist Spanish menu.
We ordered two additional beers and a double espresso (espresso was on the menu), I was told they only had filter coffee, which when brought to the table looked like dish water and came only with white sugar. When I requested brown sugar I was told they had none. When I tasted the coffee it was terrible and to top it all the waitress knocked a glass of beer over one of my guests.
In all the places I have ever eaten, this has never happened, and yet when I dared to very politely complain I was insulted, told I was being unreasonable, was not a nice person and the owner told me he didn't care what I thought or whether I ever ate there again! What an ignorant man, I will not be eating there again and would recommend everyone to avoid it, there are plenty of better places in Penrith to eat. read more
