I always try to buy local. C.R.A.P is locally owned 5 store "chain" in SW Washington small towns. Although I don't buy a lot from auto parts stores, when I do, I shop here for the above reason whether it's it's for wipers, oil and stuff like that. My experience is that the prices are very good, that staff are more than knowledgeable and helpful, they have what ever I need, and - here is the biggie - it smells like an auto parts store should smell. Not only did they have the lowest price on my car battery but they tested the one I had to make sure it needed replaced AND replaced it for me. Cut Rate Auto parts used to be the second place we went to for lower priced, but quality Auto Parts in Olympia. the first one was Raudenbush Auto supply, but they have been gone for a long, long time and now the new City Hall is in that location that had been shared with Safeway. I drove to Olympia and it was raining slightly and noticed the wipers on my wife's jeep were not working that well. First stop off the freeway in Lacy was here. Can't beat the price or service. Sales person went out to car, took off old wiper blades and helped match them to new ones. After I paid, he even came back and installed them. They always have gone that extra mile for service. The only minus is they have not yet expanded up north to the Bothell / Kenmore / Kirkland area. read more

I was looking for some brake shoes and drums for my Toyota Rav 4, so I called and asked if they had them in stock. The brake shoes were in stock but not the drums. But they offered to have them available for pick up the next day. I shopped around before I called cut rate and found out they were cheaper in price than the other auto parts stores. ie. I am not what you call "good at cars". I don't know the difference between a tail light and a brake light, unless a brake light comes on when it's time to change the brakes. I went in today after being told my brake light was out. I was immediately greeted by a friendly woman behind the register, who helped me find the brake light I needed. She asked me which light was out, brake or tail. I responded with a panicked expression, and she smiled and suggested we go to my car and she would take a look. She figured out which light needed to be replaced, and rang me up for a whopping $4. She then offered to help me change the brake light. You don't get service like this at many places, and I will be back for whatever other things happen with my car. read more

I have been shopping at Cut Rate Auto Parts since I moved to Lacey in 2003. I have been working on cars over 40 years and have used many different auto parts stores during that time frame. The staff at Cut Rate are by far, some of the most knowledge and helpful of any I have ever dealt with. I have an O'Reilly and Autozone within 1 mile of my house but I drive 5 miles to go to Cut Rate. They all have some personal repair experience and understand what you need as well as what issues you may encounter. Too many places now days you must give them a specific vehicle that they can type into a computer to tell you if they have the part. These places can't do a parts search for things like off road lights I added that are universal fit. Because they didn't come on my vehicle from the factory, they often show it as no parts available. Not at Cut rate, they have common sense. I have gotten the correct part 99% of the time and the remaining 1% is due to a bad listing, not bad staffing. Go to Cut Rate and you'll be hooked. And prices are normally better than other places too although I never check prices anywhere else any more. Jerry, Kelly and Clint are my go to guys but if they aren't there, any other staff member does just as good as my go to guys. Thanks Cut Rate! read more

Well, I grew up in Lacey and have gone to Cut-rate for many years...but not now, going to find a different local parts location. This morning, 1/17/14 at 6:50 am, I had a belt break on my way to work right before passing Cut-rate, so I pulled in under their security light since it was still dark thinking they open at 7 am...they open at 8. But, since there were no cars in the lot yet, I settled into waiting. Then an older gentleman parked right beside me which I thought was odd since there were so many other slots, but then I thought he was just pulling through Starbucks and had decided to see if he could help. I asked politely if he worked at Cut-rate and he said 'sometimes'...brushing off the sarcasm thrown my way, I went back to working under my hood, which was up when he pulled up. Not another word from him...no offers to help or ANYTHING...he just went in the back door to Cut-rate, which was immediately in front of my car, hence the area light I presume. I still can't get over the sarcasm and the void of generosity and lack of caring for a potential customer. If I was the owner and had it on video, he'd be looking for another job pronto...but then again, at his age, he is probably the owner...which would make it all the worst.
