Called them on what I assume was a very busy day. First 80°+ day of the year (a Sunday no less). My AC was not blowing cold air. Chris, the owner told me that he could possibly get someone out tomorrow afternoon. But either way he would call me tomorrow to let me know. I haven't had the best experience with home repair contractors, and I'm not completely ignorant around things like this so I started looking up common failures and how to fix them. The symptoms it was giving were most likely caused by a bad capacitor. So I ordered one on amazon. It arrived the next day before they called back and I installed it but it didn't fix the problem. Tested voltage at the contact relay and found that I had 240v coming in and nothing going out. Around this time Gary called. He said he could be there in about 20 minutes. I had him come even though I was pretty sure I had found the problem. He spent about an hour here. He had the equipment to test the capacitor and did so. He said that the old one was weak, but not to the point of failure, he would have recommended replacing it, but as the new one tested good, he didn't try to sell me on one of his. He tested the contact relay, it was bad. He verified that he had one on the truck. Yes it was more than I could have gotten one for by a pretty significant margin. That along with the cost of the service call and the labor time added up to way more than I would have spent if they hadn't called when they did. But I don't feel ripped off. If he doesn't charge for these things he won't be in business very long. He has overhead to pay as well as other costs. It was worth every penny to get my AC working right. I called them on a Sunday, he kept his word and called the next day. He managed to get someone out to me. Don't know how common the failed contact relay is, but he had one on the truck, no need to go get one from a supplier, and had me up and running quickly. They didn't try to sell me on a ton of stuff that I didn't need. Yet he stayed to verify that everything was working properly before he left. The estimate he gave was exactly what I paid. I would not hesitate to call them again in the future or recommend them to anyone I know. Great service at a reasonable price. read more

I have lived in the same house in Oak Lawn, IL. for more than 25 years. In the last 25 years I have had many HVAC companies service my AC and Air Handling units, which were installed in 1976, with little or no success after spending thousand of dollars. I have never been able to get the temperature inside my house under 79 degrees when the outside temperature was more than 90 degrees. This year I decided to replace my existing AC and Air Handling units, but prior to doing so, after having a new attic fan replaced with my new roof, the roofing contractor told me that my attic was much cooler than the outside temperature. He also told me that it looked like all the insulation on the flex ducts in my attic had fallen off and most of the cool air from my AC and Air Handling units was escaping the ducts and going into my attic, not my living areas. After calling and getting estimates from the two major companies who advertise on local TV stations, my neighbor gave me Chris's phone number and said Chris's company, CUSTOM SEASONS HEATING AND COOLING, did a great job on their AC, so I called Chris who actually answered his phone on the second ring. After I explained to Chris about the Insulation coming off the flex ducts in my attic and all the rooms in my home not getting cool air, Chris gave me a ballpark estimate for what he thought it would cost to replace my existing duct work. His price was a fraction of what the other two major companies gave me, so I told him I wanted him to do the work. Within 3 days, Chris had one of his servicemen come to my house and replace my ducts in my attic. When the work was done and the serviceman gave me the bill, it was about half of what Chris had originally quoted me. Since Custom Seasons did the work, we have had several days of 90 degree or higher temperatures AND EVERY ROOM IN MY HOUSE IS 74 DEGREES OR WHAT EVER I SET THE THERMOSTAT. My air conditioner broke just days before a 90+ degree weekend. I called another company, who came out for a charge of $85 , worked on it a little bit and told me they couldn't do anything. They then brought out this huge catalog and tried to sell me a top of the line air conditioner and kept saying used car salesman stuff like "this is my price but I'll have to check with my manager to see if there's any wiggle room". I then contacted Chris from Custom Seasons who got it working for me to get me through the weekend, and presented viable options to replace my old air conditioner. He was honest and explained everything to me in a way that non HVAC experts understood. I knew it needed to be replaced in the short term, but hate being "sold" by the other company. I also like that Chris is the owner and a small business so he has skin in the game and wanted to develop long term relationships. I've had my new air conditioner running for a few months now and it works great. I feel the pricing was competitive and it was much lower than the original company I called. Mine used to look like a hamster maze and I told him to not really fix it since it's in a back room in the basement, but he cleaned it up a little any way. We needed to replace our water heater and were having a difficult time finding a replacement due to the height limitation in the crawl space where the tank is located. We reached out to Custom Seasons Heating and Cooling and Chris gave us a free estimate and let us know that he would be able to procure the tank we needed and install it within a couple of days. He seemed knowledgeable, down-to-earth and didn't make it seem like it was going to be a complex task in order to justify an expensive fee. In fact it was the opposite, he assured us it was all in a days work for him and the price quote was reasonable from what we had been hearing from other sources. We gave him the job and sure enough, a couple of days later he arrived with the new tank, and completed the installation in a matter of a couple of hours or so. On January 30th, I came home late from work and my furnace had stopped working - this was one of the days that it was -30 outside. My house temp was about 63 degrees and dropping. I called Chris right away and he came about an hour after my call. He was very informative of my issue, quickly diagnosing the problem and making the repair, all within a half hour. Prices for the repair & labor were very fair. Today, another part went out on our furnace, and again, Chris came out about an hour after I called and fixed it very quickly. He was again honest and fair with his solutions. I am definitely taking him up on his recommendations to have him visit us in the late spring so he can give the furnace a proper cleaning! So, I asked him to come back and install a new furnace. His charge was slightly more than HALF of what the 4 day wait people were charging. Today, he and Gary showed up on time. masked. Did an awesome job. Treated me and my puppies like princesses and provided expert service. I would definitely recommend this company for any HVAC needs. These guys really know what they are doing. I had already planned to have them replace my air conditioners but we were scheduled out about a week due to both of our schedules. Our old units were chugging along and we thought we could get through another week. They both quit at the same time. Our house was so hot, none of us were sleeping. I called Chris and asked if he could come look at the old ones and see if he could charge them up or something to help us hold out a little longer. He totally went above and beyond. We were in need of replacing our 25+,year old furnace, of course it was still winter (February), so we could not wait a week or something due to the cold. We had gotten at least 3 estimates and Chris Kowalski (owner) came in with the best. He came out and replaced the furnace in one day. Unfortunately when he wanted to hook up the air conditioning to the furnace it had rained and we had one of those 30 year floods due to the frozen ground. I bought a foreclosure and the furnace was filthy. I was only able to get up to low 60s even with the target temp set much higher. Gary cleaned out my furnace and went through the error codes on my thermostat that had been popping up over the last few days. The problem was that the burner kept tripping because the flame sensor was unable to detect a flame. He had already cleaned the flame sensor with the furnace and my house had already started warming up by the time he left. I paid for the extra time he spent on diagnostics beyond the original cleaning and it was well worth it for the peace of mind. He also put in a humidifier, rerouted a drain pipe off the floor and repiped my water heater. When he and his assistant, Joe, arrived, they worked all day and cleaned up everything before they left. This was a great experience from the first email quote to the end of the job. Chris came out early and it started to pour so we put the cleaning of the AC unit on rain delay for a while.
