    McKenzie Chrome Plating

I have twenty-seven handles for drawers in our kitchen and bathrooms. My wife wanted to replace…read morethem with exactly the same style, but with a different finish. The handles were powder-coated black, but my wife wanted some in polished chrome and the rest in brushed nickel. I looked everywhere - EVERYWHERE - for these handles, but they just weren't available. Finally, I approached the previous owner of our home with our problem, and she suggested that we just take the handles to McKenzie Chrome Plating and get the handles refinished. I was kind of skeptical because the handles had been powder coated, which is a real pain to strip. However, the good people at McKenzie Chrome Plating said they could do it - and they were right! Somewhat surprisingly, McKenzie Chrome Plating didn't charge me an arm-and-a-leg for the job, and they finished the job in a timely manner. I was surprised by this, because I have to believe that this was a small job for them. The best part is that I have now had the handles back in use for about four months, and they look beautiful! McKenzie Chrome Plating did a very professional job. The handles look brand-new, and actually have BETTER finishes than what you'll find on hardware from the big-chain hardware stores. Definitely NOT "made in China." I highly recommend McKenzie Chrome Plating. I am positive that you won't be disappointed by their service.

On 01/20/2021, having surpassed the estimated completion date by nearly double I asked for a firm completion date. Solomon all but actually stated my job kept being bumped for more lucrative jobs, "competing priorities" I think it's how he put it. I showed up on 01/27, as told, to get my parts at 3:50 pm & no one in the facility knew what I was talking about. We found my order, still on the racks, not wrapped and in no way ready for transport. I immediately emailed Solomon at CEI/VP and shared my concerns. The response I received stated: your parts are in final quality review, would you like the parts done on time or correctly? Well, color me a fool, but both really!! Is that odd? Would receiving your steak dinner two hours after ordering be upsetting, even if it was done right? I suggested an adjustment to the bill was in order for the repeated failures on the part of CEI/VP. CEI/VP agreed and re-developed the price quote by more than double from $1800.00 to $3,514.96! NO JOKE, AFTER COMPLAINING AND ASKING FOR AN ADJUSTMENT THEY AGREED BY INCREASING THE AMOUNT DUE!!! CEI/VP then reduced the price to $2,070 for a net increase of 250.00 after I voiced my complaint. But it gets better! I finally get my parts home. And begin unwrapping and inspecting them. Remember above when Ariel asked if I wanted the parts done on time or correctly? Haha! Wrong on both accounts!!! I get back to the house, unwrap the parts and neither the front nor rear fender has any paint, primer or coating on the underside, just bare raw metal!!! Neither done on time, nor correctly, or even within budget! This makes me really laugh at the email when they speak to going through final quality review! By whom? A blind man with no hands? I called and spoke with Solomon. He claims motorcycles don't come from the factory painted on the underside, they use an "undercoating". Interesting because I personally took this fenders down to bare metal myself, and they were painted. Further, while I can see why an undercoating vs. paint may make sense on some applications, my front fender floats above the front tire, with four bolts afixing it to the forks. When you look through the forks you see the underside of the fender mounting tabs which are an ugly matt black rather than professional looking paint. Even better however, is when I return to pick up the fenders you can actually and quite literally see metal through the thin veneer they sprayed over it, nor did they tape it, so there is a pronounced, uneven and unfinished look to them now. I have a lot more parts to get powder coated. Imagine the difference in review had Solomon simply apologized and offered me 10-15% off my next job? I'd have been happy, I'd have returned with more work and I would have shared my positive experience with my extensive network of friends, family and aquaintances. As a result CEI/VP would have made more money. Instead, CEI/VP would rather hold my parts hostage for more than the agreed upon price after double the reported completion time with the work being poorly and incorrectly done. I am utterly convinced your experience will be the same should you choose to use this company, but don't say no one warned you...

Plus I got to do a little something different on the front to make it my own. No reason to advertise for a trailer company that can't make their paint last more then 2 years. Cutting Edge Illusions made my trailer look great again for far less that I thought it was going to be. It only took them a week to have it back to me too. I recommend!!!

The manager, who took the drawing and nodded knowingly, said they'd probably start on it that day and maybe have it ready tomorrow. Five business days later, after I called them each day to ask if it was done, never once receiving a call with an update or any explanation as to why it was taking at least three days longer than they originally said, I drove back out to pick up the product which had delayed my project by 3 days, forcing me to apologize to both my boss and my customer. Spoiler alert: the pipe was not bent or cut to the specifications in the drawing. To add insult to injury, they WROTE THE DIMENSIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS ON THE PIPE ITSELF WITH A SHARPIE. What the actual F. I have to install this in my customer's building for everyone to see for the next 50 years. My guess about the three days: they screwed up the stick I gave them so badly they had to go buy another, and after they screwed that one up they just gave it to me and hoped I wouldn't complain. I was so gobsmacked at the time that I didn't. I loaded it up and left without a word. And it has just eaten at me ever since. The problem, in my opinion, was the manager's inability to just admit he didn't know how to do what I was asking, and his subsequent unwillingness to admit defeat and replace the pipe I brought him with a new one. They wasted about 3 hours of my time (not cheap) with fruitless trips to their shop to get something other than what I specified, they defaced it with sloppy handwriting in sharpie, and they ruined a $180 stick of pipe. Can not recommend.
