We hired Mojave Pools to build our pool, and we had problems at every stage of the process. Contract signed 10.31.2024 First, they buried the drainage system, and whenever they break something, they just point to the contract saying they're not responsible for anything. Then, when we were pouring concrete around the pool, we asked them if we could pour more, and they said yes. But later, they installed the pool heater on top of our concrete -- it was technically part of the plan, but it looked awful. They could have easily placed it beside the slab. Then they demanded an additional $300 to reinstall the heater in another spot. Their official plans show the filter and heater as tiny components, but in reality, the entire equipment setup took up the whole corner. We paid $3,000 for them to remove and reinstall the fence they damaged -- but they don't install gates. They simply don't do it, even though they took them down. We had to pay another $300 for gate installation. They didn't install a ground wire when they set up the filter and heater. When their crew laid the stone coping around the pool, within 2 months, the stones started to wobble. They had to remove and reset about 30 of them. They installed the salt system in the wrong location, then moved it -- but it still doesn't work. They didn't add stabilizer when they added the pool chemicals, and never told us it needed to be added. On the very first day the pool was filled and chemicals added, I asked their worker, Brown, if they offered pool maintenance. He said no -- even though two weeks later, when we had to clean the filter, he offered us service. But by that time, we had already hired someone else, who told us the salt system was installed incorrectly and that our pool was losing water rapidly. A month later, we had to replace the filters again and pay them $377. They also forgot to connect the automatic water refill system for the pool. We had to constantly remind them about everything. After the pool was filled, we discovered a leak. Their plumber told me the pipe was damaged under the concrete, but later the company blamed our concrete contractor, saying it was his fault and refused to do anything about it. They also forgot to connect the automatic water refill system for the pool. We had to constantly remind them about everything. One day, I saw a man walking in my backyard taking pictures of my pool. When I went outside, he said he was taking photos for social media. But no one had informed me that someone would be coming -- this person frightened me. I asked him to leave and did not give him permission to take photos. However, he came back another time when I wasn't home and took pictures, which they later posted on their Instagram page. In general, people from this company would come and go whenever they wanted, without notice. This is a terrible company with very poor communication. The owner once called me and just yelled at me. Our experience with Custom Mojave Pools was outstanding! I have no complaints with the entire process, from the first in home estimate to the final instructional start-up day. First off, It was surprisingly difficult to even get a response from many of the local pool companies regarding estimates, however Custom Mojave was one of the few who promptly responded to our emails and calls. They were also the only company who designed a pool and spa exactly how we envisioned. The other companies either completely ignored what we wanted, or made changes to our design, specifically with trying to convince us to have the spa raised instead of being flush to the pool like we had envisioned. I will note that they were not the cheapest company who provided us with an estimate. Their pricing was competitive though, and given what we learned through our own research, it was worth it for us to spend more given their extensive experience building pools in the high desert. Customer service from all parties involved was also outstanding! Alan, who designed our pool and provided our in home estimate, was very kind, knowledgeable, and easy to contact for questions/concerns. Amber, who works in the office and is the point of contact during the entire process was a pleasure to work with. She was easy to contact, and when unavailable quickly responded to our texts and voicemails. She was extremely helpful in walking us through the entire process and always gave us a heads up when crews were scheduled to come to our home. Finally Brian, the project manager was super easy going and very responsive to all of my questions. The entire crew was a joy to work with. We were given a 45 day timeline from the first dig to filling the finished pool with water, and we were filling our pool in the 46th day. No complaints there at all! My biggest fear during this entire process was having the timeline get stretched out and ending up with an empty hole in the yard for numerous months. I was very impressed with their ability to stay on schedule. All of the sub-contracted companies were great too. I'm by no means an expert in contracting, but the quality of work appeared great. Nothing blatantly sloppy or wrong in my opinion. Plus, their work ethic across the board was top notch. Crews showed up early in the morning, and worked through the entire day. In one case a crew (the rebar company) even showed up on a Saturday to complete a job. All in all working with Mojave Custom Pools was about as great of an experience as we could have hoped for. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area. I'll end with this....the pool cleaning companies we reached out to for estimates on cleaning services all made a point to mention that they love working on pools designed and constructed by Custom Mojave pools. I have written a review here before.. almost a year ago before the construction was complete.. recently we took a sample of the pool water to test.. when the resulta came out they said to be ware that it looks like there a crack in the pool.. when we checked we found a thin but rather long crack.. and since then its been a hell of a hassle with custom mojave pools to come fix it.. the amount of neglegence and disrespect they handle customer complaints with is unbelievable .. actualle its the owner himself "joey" his employees are respectful and try to help out and it shows in their attitude that they are willing to help and that this job was not done right.. but everytime we get a promise from them joey blows up in disrespect.. we wanted scope of work for our repair that again took forever to be fixed.. he neglected that.. then the employee said we will get it but joey is now out of town.. we waited for his return and his reply was" u are getting nothing"!! They're disreputable! Brian, the customer rep. provided one quote in June2023 and then two unexplained increasing quotes by July. They get you in with a special and change the special to a 20, 000 increased price prior to the build, they are unscrupulous people. Now I'm on the hunt for another builder but I will pay more attention to BBB and YELP comments, especially how the company handles problems, it's very telling. You may always have a dissatisfied customer, understandable, but repeated extreme complaints and disrespectful communications is a red flag. As in any construction job, there was ups & downs. The ups... many of their subcontractors were great, friendly, & professional. Price was reasonable. The downs... scheduling is delayed & you have to constantly text or call to keep things moving. You basically have to be your own Forman. They will leave your brand new backyard a complete mess, & they may fail to complete the contract, startup instructions, clean up, & even your final inspection!! Our overall experience was frustrating & disappointing. After our pool was completed & filled with water (which took place past our contract date) the company never returned to do the final cleanup, our startup meeting to show us how to use the pool equipment, & we had to schedule our own final inspection with the city. They damaged our entry way (cracked our flagstone in multiple places), broke down our wall to get into the backyard & never fixed it properly, & left stains & scratches in our new decking. When asked to fix all of it or clean up, they sent someone who just hosed our area down which did NOTHING. It took about one year for these guys to complete our pool. It wasn't all their fault, but they lack communication and follow-up skills. Ours was done during the middle of the recession, maybe they've got their "stuff" together by now. Reading other reviews, I think they may still have problems. I would not recommend them to a friend. Pros: Nicely designed pool, final product was pretty good. Price was better than others. Cons: Slow work, with long periods of no work whatsoever. It shouldn't take a year to complete a pool, although many of the delays were not their fault. Pool pump was inadequate, and instead of sheets of water coming out of the spa into the pool, it merely dribbled over the edge. Overall, a flakey operation that can design a great pool, but lacked the resources to execute. Final comment: Pay them to design a pool, then hire some other pool contractor to do the job. read more

My one day off to sleep in and catch up on some rest, the people from Mojave pools were ringing my doorbell multiple times at 6:30am waking everyone in the house up. All because they needed a car moved. If you needed a space clear for a certain reason you should have communicated that earlier or told your client who could have in turn made us aware the day before. Since that wasn't done, we would've appreciated it if you dumped your dirt pile in a different spot. Plus I'm pretty sure you shouldn't start work in residential neighborhoods until 8 am. I have a chipped pool since it was done. It will never get repaired by them. DO NOT DO IT. Choose any other company. Well started our pool process end of july 2017 we go for final inspection feb 2018 so ill leave it at that. After ripping out half the coping and slab for poor workmanship. The repour only left us with two major cracks in the coping. To be expected they said, cracks ocurred day after pour. Then when they spray pebbletech the day before weather says its supposed to be windy the dirt stains the pool again our fault cause i guess we were supposed to sweep it even tho we werent home and the brush was in a box that i guess we were supposed to open. So they drained the pool into my yard 18x30x9 and supposedly acid washed it. Most of the stains got removed so i guess were supposed to be happy that they at least tried.filling our new filter system with the pool debris leaving me to figure out it needs cleaning. Supposed to "rake yard after final" well yard has piles of dirt and debris that they left piles of broken concrete that they left. So if your looking for pool people that they sub out to unlicensed workers. I thought i get what i paid for 54k but i guess thats how they boost there profit. So if your looking for people to leave there trash in your yard for you to clean up also missing tools and they used my yard tools i had laying around leaving them where ever dumping out buckets of sticks and debris that i had picked up so they could use MY bucket again leaving for me to pick up. Kicker they sent cert letter saying they were gonna put a lean on my house if i didnt pay final 2k. Cause i told there pool guy i wasnt paying final until they cleaned my pool. We were really excited when we finally decided on a contractor for our pool. Custom Mojave Pools gave us a "good price" and we felt comfortable with Jesse and Jessica. Work started and progress was good. However, about a month into the project, things started to change. Communication went down the hill, work slowed and workmanship began to decline. It got to the point where we were extremely unhappy with them. We later found out that Jesse didn't even work for Mojave Pools, he is the owner's best friend and isn't even licensed to do the work he was doing. And Jessica isn't even certified to work for Mojave as a Sales Manager. She is the owner's girlfriend! We are extremely disappointed with the company because they basically lied to us and they never finished the job. The work they did complete was also finished after the agreed upon completion date. They left so many things unfinished and the pool plaster has tons of cracks and rough spots. They told us it would be repaired after the plaster cured and that takes 30 days. They basically disappeared after the plaster was done and never repaired it. We would have given this company a higher rating had they remained professional, finished the job on time, and actually had a license for all of the work they performed. We found out they are not even licensed to perform most of the work they charged us for! Do your research on this company and don't sign a contract with them for anything besides a pool! Also, if you use them, make sure you get everything in writing and don't let them use Kerber Bros pool plastering. read more

Started off well. Good communication and a fair price up front. Along the way things slowed, but the project was about 98% complete by their stated completion date. Some lazy workmanship on a couple of issues. They needed to trench the yard for plumbing, totally fine. Instead of dumping a few hundred pounds of dirt onto our gravel rock, it went onto our grass where it stayed for two months, killing the grass. I would negotiate that with them ahead of time. There were also a couple of concerns about finishing touches that we still don't have resolved. And communication was spotty during construction, maybe due to the fact that we were building during May and June. The components seem to be of good quality, pump/filter/etc. Materials used also seem fine. Maybe build during the winter so you get better communication? Don't know since we haven't built any other pools in our lifetime. Whatever you decide, good luck with such a big project. We are content with Mojave. read more

This is what I got: exposed rebar buried under pebble tech, and the stairs and light installed on the wrong side of the pool. Now new pebble tech will cost me $15,000. I called to get help and they told me pebble tech only lasts 5 years. Well, this job only lasted five years, but properly done jobs last 20. The pool was expensive too, almost 50k. Run! Don't give these knuckleheads your money! We had our pool pebble coated by these folks because they actually had a business location we could walk into. Two men came out to start the job. We live in a rural area and I was walking out to the road to get our mail when they came flying down the dirt road toward me, aiming at me with the car and leaving me choking in a cloud of dust and dirt, laughing as I jumped out of the way. I walked back to our house instead of going on out to the mail box as my husband wasn't home and I was concerned who they were when I saw them turn into out property. Recognition played over the driver's face when I went back to my pool, but no apology came forth. He left the other guy to do the tile work after a few minutes. The tile guy looked like he was homeless and the tiles he cut were all different sized and not set evenly. It was so bad I had to threaten a lawsuit to get the owner to find someone else to do the job. The tiles literally popped free with no work at all that the homeless guy set. read more
