Run Away! Don't walk from this Ace Think clearly as you read his own words-later…read moreverbatim--before you make......ANY! commitment . In normal circumstances, be fair to and trust your contractor; keep your eyes on him until proven However, if you trust Tile Stone Ace, your loss may be similar to our loss, $18,000. Lesson #1 Never make a "deposit" that exceeds $1000. It is called Deposit but think of it as an unaccountable, unsecured cash loan You are not a bank. You have no idea of where that money goes Years ago my pool contractor on a Monday berated me for 10% down arrived Friday in a crew cab, tricked out, 1-ton dually--odometer 500 miles--and advised a delay: two buddies and son were leaving for 9 days. They had elk tags for Colorado. At Tile Stone we put down 100% for materials Ace was to supply. Plus 50 % his estimate of labor. He was entrusted with mare than $8000 day 1. Lesson # 2. Insist on a written contract. All liscened contractors are trained by the state. Every contractor knows the law obligates them to give you a contract that minimumaly is the state approved form. Most contactors wont tell you this. Why? The contract gives you greater ability to solve disputes. It allows contators to insert in fine print items prohibited by law. And it appears authoritaties don't care. Lesson #3. Incentize total completion and satisfaction. Large projects can require performance bonds. But these are expensive and incentivize cutting corners. So stick with with 10% down and 85% at completion. Retain the 5% for the entire duration of any warranty. Escrow This money as a good faith gesture. Lesson #4. We spent months locating some Amarone stone imported from Brazil and paid another contractor $4500 for this. We transferred this to Ace and entrusted him with another $4500. Did we ask to be named as additional insured on his plolicy? No. Did we ask His bank provide a prommisory note? No? Well our rock disappeared under the most implauible of stories. Amarone is its name and it may well be in a home in southern oregon--just not ours. What would say of me if I "accidentally " damaged a tuck left in my drive way. Which is more righteous: 1) immediately call him to advise him, discuss with him alternatves for repair and who pays. Insurance follows the vehicle so he calls insurance and we agree what I pay the body shop. Or 2) I never tell The Owner what happened. . Instead I shop around among junk yards for the cheapest bed and fenders. I instruct my staff to remove the new black parts and install a junk brown bed and fenders and spray can paint tjese to black. Tell my staff if they say nothing or your fired. And only AFTER Onwer calls to say "where the hell is my new truck?" Hang up and 3 hours later send an email that says your truck is beautiful, all my fscebook friends have liked my paint job and I knew it best to not disturb you by making any phone calls. Isn't 1 how all of us would have behaved?? Ace at Tile Stone chose 2. *Fiduciary responsibilty is by custom and law implictnin every contract--Ace totally failed us. *Custom and law required Ace to inform us. His weeks long silence was a deliberate deception. Law calls this Fraud. *During his period of silence, his employees were in our home for measuring. We are certain the employees were able to speak. . We heard nothing about the fairy tale explanation that would be proffered after installation of the wrong rock. What better explains this 1) they also forgot 2) they too totally believed they protected us by silence and freely chose to participate 3)duress was applied sufficient to assure the communications blackout. Would a reasonable person say "Yup, 1 is compellinly logical? The Law says 2 and 3 are conspiracy. Which is more logical of the two? To shorten a long story--- ZERO Amarone made to our home. I believe our slab is in another's home. The only question is who paid and how much? an off-the-books cash deal of $4000; or "appraised at $5000, $1500 freight and $500 to fix damage $7000 please." Did he call his insurer? No. And refused to do so. Those pesky adjusters expect real proof not some half-baked story asserting superior and pure motive therefore all Ace's actions are righteous. All others' questions and contrary opinions are automatically invalid. His "great replacement" a stone called gabbro, the most abundant rock on earth. It had been stored stupidly by someone somewhere out of doors, in the rain. The absorbed water turning iron into rust. Discoloring yellows and oranges everywhere and their growth will continue. Wholesale $0 est. Oh, the Ceasarstone? Only 2 of 3 cut. Slqb 3 disappeared with no credit. $1750 gone

Customer services is 0 stars as this is my home that was just rebuilt after the Almeda fire and now I am going to have to replace it and they refuse to compensate for the carpet. When I went in, I had placed an order and then went back in to upgrade my carpet. As a customer, I trusted them as the expert to place the correct order. They did not update my order and the wrong carpet was placed. When I called to express this, they stated they never spoke to me about an upgrade and refused to fix it and address their error. Very dissatisfied. Seek business elsewhere that will actually take their customers seriously and treat with respect.

I ask him, since we came down here, are you not able to help us right now with our request? His response was I didn't know if you were busy or if you had plans for the day! A couple of months later ,I call to get a quote on a rug that we had purchased prior but a different size. They took my information and told me they would call me and email me that same day and the next day I called, the guy is not working and the other gal can't find the information. Don't waste your time go somewhere else that will provide excellent customer service.

The project was a total gut that included demolition of a dropped ceiling that had flooded with sewage. He rebuilt the exterior doorway, replaced all the original plumbing and electrical in the kitchen and basement, handled asbestos abatement, and refurbished the original windows, pantry built-ins, and as much trim that could be salvaged. The new kitchen has all-new subfloor and flooring, tile, light fixtures, custom-designed cabinets, wood trim in the historic style, and paint. The project also included lots of "honey-do" add-ons that included hand-fitted "dutchmen" in old doorways, several custom-made screen doors, and rehabilitating all the old window, door, and cabinet hardware. They also replaced multiple false beams under the eaves on our home's two-story exterior. The renovation was a huge undertaking, but Ben was always sensitive and accommodating. His crew and subcontractors are pleasant and professional, and I never felt uncomfortable being home alone with any of them. I have never collaborated with a more skilled and professional contractor. Ben is not intimidated by the idiosyncrasies and surprises inherent in tackling a historic property, and our renovation reflects the high level of his professionalism and craftsmanship. We could not be happier with the outcome.

I can say with absolute confidence that Clinton Perry from Horizon Tile is THE BEST tile contractor…read moreI have ever worked with. This statement means something as I operated a design/build firm for 20 years and in that time worked with many different tile contractors, none of which were even close to the quality of Horizon Tile. Prior to meeting with Clinton for the first time on my job site where I was owner-building a custom home, I had received bids from 3 other tile contractors. Clinton was very different to all of them in that he took a lot of time explaining his process and his focus on detailed work, making it clear that his goal is always for his work to last a lifetime. I was very impressed with him and found his very respectful and believable. I was under time pressure to get into our new home before the full onset of the winter rains so when Clinton told me he needed a month for two full bathrooms (with lots of detail in the tile) and two entry areas, I almost decided not to work with him as most of the other tile contractors had stated around two weeks. However, everything else impressed me so much that I decided to see where his bid came in, fully expecting him to substantially more expensive than the others-quality work always cost more! To my pleasant surprise Clinton's bid was in the middle and although a few thousand more than my low bid, I felt sure that the quality of his work, his attention to detail and his commitment to lifetime quality made my decision for me. Horizon tile arrived to start work as scheduled and stayed on the project everyday fully focused on their work. Together with his family member Jeremy they made an awesome team. Every time there was a design detail, they called me in to make sure that I was happy with their decision and never took anything for granted. The working relationship between the two was really special and it was obvious that they enjoyed working together and took lots of pride in their work. They were also very respectful to the other subs on our site and offered help whenever needed always being very generous with their time. They were particularly considerate of us at all times, something sadly missing with so many other subs on our site. Clinton had bid the tile work in s standard lay pattern and once he started layout planning, he offered a brick pattern layout which I knew from years in the business was a more costly although more attractive design layout. I was on a tight budget and told him that I did not want to spend the extra money to which he replied that it would be no extra cost, something I had not anticipated nor expected. Their work was impeccable and I could not find a single thing to complain about. When he thought he may run over his initial month time line, he offered to come in on the weekends to stay on schedule. I reminded him that I had asked for extra work and he originally did not allow for a brick pattern layout which takes more time and that I was fine if he ran over a few days. In the end he finished pretty much on his original time line. Their work was fantastic, we loved having them work on our home and out of 13 subcontractors, Horizon tile was the very best by far. I highly recommend them and can say without any doubt that they were worth every penny I paid them and more. Feel free to ask Clinton for my contact number if you have any questions before hiring them. You will be very happy you did! Marc & Marci Eagle Point, OR
