We were so hungry that we didn't even think about taking pictures of our food. But it's okay,…read morebecause we will definitely return! We ordered a bagel sandwich with cheese and eggs, as well as a fluffy omelette, and both were incredibly delicious. It was the perfect quick breakfast to fuel us before a day full of adventurous hikes. The service was prompt and friendly, making us feel welcome. Our meals arrived warm and satisfying, with freshly brewed coffee that was rich and aromatic. The restaurant offered a variety of sweets and snacks, so we picked out a few to enjoy during our hike. The place itself was beautiful! Vibrant and colorful, with a cozy, inviting atmosphere that felt just like being in a home away from home.

We were seated immediately on a Friday at around 1pm. I love their vegetarian options but this is a place that assumes if you are a vegetarian, that you like and must have onions and mushrooms in every meal. I couldn't find much other than pancakes/pastries/sweet shit that didn't have onions and mushrooms but fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request for the tofu scramble without onions or mushrooms. GF ordered the vegetarian quesadilla with, you guessed it, onions and mushrooms (among other things). My tofu scramble was good but calling it a scramble is slightly misleading as it is actually tofu cubes albeit very crispy and tasty tofu cubes. This dish was probably potatoes. A few spinach leaves and maybe 1/100th of a pepper. I will concede to the fact that some of that volume might have been taken up by mushrooms and onions. The dish was very good regardless and the accompanying salsa added a really nice extra je ne sais quoi. I also really like the pay first and then leave whenever you want model to avoid being held hostage to bad service not to say that they would've provided bad service but it is a risk anywhere. Regarding GF's quesadilla which I did not have the pleasure of sampling bc of onions of mushrooms "I thought it was decent". When I asked if she had any details or specifics to add, she replied, "no".

I guess there is no changing your mind that day. And I guess it's loyal base has lives that this works for. Whom does this place cater to? Not your average person by any means. Certainly not people actually out working. Perhaps office or bank employees around town who know on Monday what they will want for lunch on Wednesday. Not knowing this. I googled them, saw no hours, nor any explanation. We were only two minutes away, so I just drove over. Never mind that it took 15 minutes to park in downtown Lewisburg. It looked closed so I walked to the door to look for hours. Nothing but a menu taped to the window. I saw two women inside. One looked right at me, so I smiled and waved. She quite literally looked at me like she was exhausted with me already, raised her eyebrows and shook her head no. Which I interpreted as we are closed. Fair enough. So I hop back in the truck and pull up their website. Funny, looks like most of the reaturaunt sites in Lewisburg, all made by the same company. The only explanation on their website states it's pick up and delivery style. Okay, great. Have to download their menu. Okay. Finally, it looks like we will be able to order. Not so fast. After downloading, and only after downloading the menu, does it state you must order 48 hours in advance....wow. That's something your website designer should probably put on the front page of your site. Or maybe you, as the business owner, should put this on Google. Or at least hours and 48-hour advance pick-up delivery ONLY somewhere on Google. Maybe a door sign for all the average people who think this is an actual restaurant, so they don't get snooty looks when they smile at you. Some of us aren't aware of the odd way your business works. I've lived all over, and I've managed four diamond restaurants. Huge scale casino restaurants, small boutique steakhouses, fifties style diners, etc, and never seen this type of model for a restaurant, small or large. Clearly, people are fans. They seem to do well enough. But as it is nothing they offer that looks so good, unique, or special that I would order 48 hours in advance. Like many of the resturaunts downtown, they give the vibe that you are lucky to get food from them. Instead of appreciating your current AND would be customers. In addition, any negative review that is put on Google is met with the owner doing a sales pitch about their local ingredients and how popular they are among their wealthy clientele. Because that's who their clientele actually is, wealthy locals and wealthy tousits. They don't address the actual issue the customer had in their review or state they will work to remedy it. She uses it as a chance to talk about how great her restaurant is. Obviously, if someone has written a negative review about your business, there is a valid reason you may need to address. Instead of, you know, using it as a chance to self promote.

There is no better place for always fresh never frozen donuts. It's disheartening to realize that some only know Dunkin'. Listen, I'm not hating, there's a place for the quick hit fix of dunkin. There is a platonic nature to Dunkin's work, it's what you get for those who you consider an acquaintance. If you want to express a deep care and dare I say nostalgic sense of belonging in a world wrecked with loneliness then you go for the connection. It is in the name, man. I'm just saying there is more to the donut experience than Dunkin is capable of offering in our area. It's as Lewis said, " like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased." The pure euphoria of these donuts, the deliberate love of the team, the nonchalant 90's decor that reminds you of a home lost but never resigned from your heart. It's an enrapturing moment to embrace these little spaces in our days to retrieve some sort of confectionary respite from a world in dire straights. You need a retreat from the wreck of the world? Come to the connection, your connection to concrete exuberance in patisserie bliss.

Everything we tried was soft, fresh, and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. You can tell this is the kind of place that's been doing things the same (and doing them well) for a long time. The prices were also surprisingly great, and had they been listed, I would have purchased a lot more. It's a small, old-school bakery that's clearly been a local favorite for generations, and that charm is part of what makes it special. That said, as first-time visitors, it was a little tough to navigate. Nothing is labeled, no menu, no prices, so we had to ask a few questions and rely on recommendations. Maybe it was just a busy Saturday morning, but the young woman helping us didn't seem thrilled that I was taking photos and asking about the pastries. I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. Even with that experience, I'd still recommend stopping by. The pastries really are that good, the prices are fair, and it's the kind of nostalgic, old fashioned bakery that's getting harder to find these days.
