Wish I would have read these reviews before signing up with HP. I went to CAS beginning of 2020, I was looking for someone to help with my taxes and help me get my new contracting business off the ground. I had done my own taxes on turbo tax for the previous 9 years but had decided to go to a "pro" to maybe help find more deductions to lower my tax bill. She "advised" I set my new business was up as an S-Corp to get the most tax breaks and walked me through the processes of setting up this new business. As the rest of the reviews state, I received outlandish $2000 invoices in the beginning and was told "they will go down in time as we get things streamlined". So for the next 9 months I continued to get these crazy invoices monthly. In total over 9 months I paid over $13,000 bucks and to be honest my finances are in more disarray than they have ever been. ALOT of the line items in the invoices were for crazy charges, like if you send her an email with a short question you might get dinged for an hour worth of time for her to give you a 10 word reply. Charge for reading email, charge for "processing" email, charge for "adding to agenda the emails question" and a charge for "processing working papers" all from one simple email question. This happened over and over until I'd finally had enough and new something was not right. So I sought out a second and third opinion, showed 2 other accountants my CAS "invoices" and both had the same answer "I advise you immediately cut ties with CAS and pull all your files from her business, that's NOT how accountants are supposed to work". So when I did ask her for all my files back, I got a real nice $1000 ending invoice.....I paid it just to be done with her business. But yeah unless your business is generating a half million or more a year I would definately not sign up with this business. Hopefully my financial error can help some one else not make the same mistake. Don't get me wrong, she is a real nice lady. Just not the best CPA business practices are followed at her place. Oh yeah and when the end came, I tried disputing my last invoice. I sent her 3 emails trying to come to a compromise and got nothing back from her. So I finally just paid the last bill so we wouldn't end up in court, thanked her for her service, and washed my hands clean.....sometimes we make mistakes just have to learn them:) Hope this helps. read more

Beware! We've been working with Heather for about 6 years. It's always been like pulling hens teeth to get information, and continual charges and invoices that were never quite explained. But we thought she was being helpful by setting us up with a massive tax and business structure for our small family farm. We recently had an urgent tax issue, and contacted the company. They happily collected payment information and charged us $400 (for what?) but haven't done a single lick of work. They have not returned a single call or email in a month and a half of calling them daily. Not one. But they did charge. When we went to request that they give us a copy of all of our records (for our new CPA, who meets with us, and talks to us, and everything), we learned that people are coming into the office every day to request their documentation back, because no one ever hears back from Heather. Oh, except for a few of her "special clients" whom she sees in her home office. And yet she charged us! We are disputing the charge with the bank, and warning anyone who will listen. Our new CPA has dismantled the obtuse and unnecessary tax structure, and we will simply be putting the farm as an addendum on our personal return this year. But of course, that wouldn't have worked for Heather - filing a personal and a business return allowed her to charge us twice as much! On a side note, it turns out she is not even a CPA. And she had an issue a couple of years back where someone found a bunch of -unshredded- personal tax documentation from her clients in a dumpster downtown. Do not waste your money with this accountant. She charges customers credit cards and provides nothing in return. BEWARE

About a year ago I went to Pavlosky accounting - big mistake! This accounting company may be good for mid-size to large companies looking for full service book keeping as well as accounting and tax preparation. But I highly advise small businesses to be very careful and call around asking prices of tax prep and accounting before using Pavlosky. After setting up quickbooks and doing some bookkeeping for me, Pavlosky Accounting Services sent me a bill for over $1000. I thought it was a bit expensive but I just thought setting up the service would be expensive and then I could do my own book keeping and just have them do tax prep. So, I explicitly told them that I could never have another bill that large on my budget, I was willing to do what ever I had to to keep the bill down. The very next month I got a bill for over $1000. It was obvious that it was going to continue. I looked around found another accountant and got my taxes done for around $250 total. It looks like I was just being a foolish person not shopping around and Pavlosky did nothing wrong they are simply a high end vehicle like a Mercedes and I can only afford a Chevy, simple enough right? The problem comes when you look at the ethics of what is involved. A professional CPA can look over someones Quickbooks and their personal account (which Pavlosky had access to in my case) and assess their financial position within minutes. In my case my small business barely makes it month-to-month. If as a financial professional you can see that, but still look to gouge a financially challenged client to the extreme, it's not only unprofessional but unethical. If I was the only one this happened to then why have I found so many other similar reviews of Pavlosky on-line? How you could do this in a small town like Bellingham and not get a bad name is beyond me, other than by having enough large clients who don't care as long as the accounting is done and they don't have to deal with it. Plus, getting enough clients out of the Bellingham area down toward Seattle. Yet, we all can review on Yelp and help others not fall into our own mistakes.
