We finally have fallen in love with our family room, after 30 years of struggling to pull together our entire home in Westmont, IL...thanks to Candy! I knew we met the perfect person when Candy walked into the room and said, "This room is laid out all wrong", then immediately began rattling off some easy changes. One in particular stood out: Instead of gathering people to interact in three separate areas of the room, i.e., Bar, T.V., or Card Table, all separated by furniture layout, why not open up the entire room to include EVERYONE?! Brilliant!...and it didn't cost us a single penny for that advice. Yep! Candy was our gal! Considering the many textures in the room (Wisconsin Stone fireplace and wet bar, wood paneling throughout...with the exception of an entire wall of dark cabinets and shelves, ceramic tile and carpeting) her suggestions were music to my ears...especially when she suggested her ideas on the perfect window treatments to pull it all together! However, Candy had her work cut out for her as my husband wasn't as open to change and suspected he was being lead directly toward a major transformation. lol! Remarkably, Candy took his skepticism into consideration, exercising a patience I often times fall short , and easily worked with us both. After replacing our furniture, painting the paneling, cabinets, ceiling, cocktail and end tables, installing vinyl floating tiles, carpeting & widow treatments, our room was totally transformed! Not only did Candy open up the room & create an environment suggesting we "Come on in and stay a while", the new room layout directed our focus toward our beautiful yard that is seen through a set of double glass sliding doors on either side of a wall now housing our oversized TV Screen. In addition to being treated to a welcoming site when entering the room, we are now enjoying the beautiful outdoors while watching TV. This, by the way, was the most challenging for my husband because he was so accustomed to watching sports/programs while facing the fireplace. So happy he came around to our way of thinking! The transformation of our home makes us feel like we're living in our very own Bed & Breakfast and we don't have to leave home to experience its comforts & serenity somewhere else. I now take my coffee or cocktail (depending upon the time of day ) to my sofa, sit back to absorb our beautiful surroundings, and thank the Good Lord for reminding us..."Its a Wonderful Life"! Thank you, Candy, for being straight-forward, creative, resourceful, kind and easy to work with. You've pulled our entire home together and its only taken 30 years! LOL!! Do not use Curtain Call Creations for any reason. The owner, Candy, has been a nightmare. On August 2, 2017, we paid a deposit of 75% of the project's cost for new curtains in our living room. We asked if the curtains would be done by Thanksgiving. We were told they would definitely be done by then. She made templates for the curtains. After this, all communications were done by text. (At some point, in the coming months, two side panels were installed.) In late September, she told us that the curtains were almost done, but she had to drop by to make another template. We set a date, which she had to change, but she did eventually come by. In mid-November, she asked for dates for the installation. I gave her a number of dates, but because "there was a death in the family," she didn't immediately get back to us. Picked a date for late November, but got a text saying her installer was "passing a kidney stone." She would try to find a replacement . Ten days later, she asked if December 20th would be good for us. We said ok. On January 8th, I asked if there was any news on curtains as we had not heard from her. She responded she would be home on Friday and that she would get curtains done "ASAP." Two weeks later, I had to point out that we were a couple months past promise date and asked what was going on. She responded that she thought her installers had already taken care of us. She offered to take $500 off the price and have her installer call me directly to set a time for installation. He never called. I reminded her 4 days later and again 17 days after that. On February 12th, she indicated she could install the curtains at the end of the month. We agreed on the 26th. When the installer came out, he pointed out that the remaining curtains he was there to install, did not match the curtains previously done. Different material, different shade of green, yet she sent him out to finish the job. Smacks of fraud wouldn't one think. We told her installer we were done with her and we wanted our money back. We were told that the fabric we picked was no longer available. But if it was available for the side curtains, why not order enough material to complete the project? If that was all the material they had, why order it if it wasn't enough to complete the project and inform us of that at the time? She then (again, all this by text. She would not answer her phone.) offered to dye the curtains, but she sounded not all together. We asked for our money back. Finally, in mid-March, she agreed to pay us back. She said she filled out a PayPal refund form. End of March, we told her to forget PayPal, we wanted a check. She later told us, she would make monthly payments through Zelle to return our money. We said no, didn't want to bother with Zelle and that she couldn't unilaterally decide to pay us in installments after we paid her in one lump sum eight months earlier. She finally said she would put a check in our mailbox on May 2nd. We received the check post-dated to May 9th. We waited to deposit it. Can you see it coming? It bounced. Today, we received notice that we are being charged $12 for her bounced check. We have also, from her, received a certified check in our mailbox. What could go wrong?
