On top of that I decided our old window treatments weren't quite right for our new gorgeous bathroom so reached out to my trust decorator for recommendations. She said she's had nothing, but great experiences with Gotcha Covered...and looks like (based on the stellar reviews) that many yelpers agree. I called last Monday and found time on a Saturday morning for a sales rep (Jay) to stop by. Saturdays are ideal for my work schedule, although when he stopped by at 10am I had 3 kids I had to kick out of their rooms (especially the teenager) so he walked into a bit of craziness, but didn't seem bothered by it. Within an hour we chose hunter douglas room darkening shades for my kids rooms, as well as a custom made silhouette window shade for our bathroom. My decorator facetimed to help us pick a color and fabric for the window, which ended up being a quick 5 min call. We were able to match all the shades to the existing trim in all the rooms and then Jay was off. Jay promised a quote by Monday, but delivered it Saturday afternoon. While pricey it ended up being much less than I expected (also included a designer referral discount) and I"m really happy with everything we ordered. I did think about shopping around, but decided to just go with Gotcha Covered based on the stellar reviews, great service from Jay and the price seemed fair (even chatgpt agreed :)). They required a 50% deposit to place the order and promised to deliver/install in 4-6 weeks. I'll update my review after installation, but I'm happy so far!

I tell you all this because then I called Hang and Shine. Jon came to my house with samples, quickly gave me a price for the installed product with nothing added but sales tax. Sept. 22, 2025 I began emailing with Cheryl H. Telling her that I had 6 Roman shades and the sizes…read more She was prompt in her replies and gave me 3 options: 1. Bring them to their facility in Downers Grove and pick up. 2. They would come to my home and take down and rehang the shades. 3. They would come to my home and clean in place. I chose to bring them to their shop a few days later.On the phone I had told her that several years ago I had these same shades cleaned by them and that I had been happy with the result. They had my shades for about 3 weeks. I picked them up and the next day hung them back up. Four of the six shades didn't hang right. They drooped to one side. When I looked on the back of one shade, I found a string, that pulls the material up and causes the loops, had deliberately been cut off and tied about half way up the shade. So that side of the shade hung down. On 4 of the 6 shades 10 of the rings that the string goes through to create the loops were missing. Again, causing that part of the shade to droop. I called Lovitt the next day and talked to Cheryl H on Thursday. After questioning me as to whether I had brought them in like that, she told me that she would talk to the technician about it and get back to me. She didn't get back to me. I called her back after the weekend. She said that the plastic rings had broken during the cleaning process and the rings dry out with time and this can happen. I understood that but asked why the shades were returned to me without informing me. She told me the tech didn't tell her there was any problem. I told her that they didn't train the tech correctly or that person was trying to hide mistakes. In another Yelp review in the response to another complaint, this was part of Lovitt's reply: "Our company has a specific protocol upon completion of repairs. All our repairs are inspected by our management team for quality control purposes, ensuring that all shades are functioning properly prior to pick-up." Apparently that was not done and Cheryl H. did not do her job. Her remedy for me was to drive back to Downers Grove with the 4 shades and when their repair person comes in they will fix it. She wanted to charge me. I live on the north side of the city and it takes at least an hour to get there. She was not respectful of my time and tried to pass off poor quality assurance and blame me. That is not a good business model. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Lovitt.
