I worked with Susan from last summer into early fall. In the time that we worked together, I felt that this professional was a willing listener with plenty of ideas. The new bay window my husband and I had had installed months earlier ended up to be disappointing in wood quality and finish. Since there was no option other than to accept the installed window, I decided that window treatments with some "punch" would be key to creating a beautiful bay view. I read reviews about Susan and Galiani Designs, and decided to call her, despite the fact that I was worried Gailani Designs' award-winning status might place her out of my reach in terms of cost. Susan heard my concerns, while also trying her best to honor my budget. Her idea of creating panels made of gorgeous fabric, hung to either side of the window with interesting hardware, made the single biggest difference in the overall appearance of that bay, as well as changed the look of the entire dining area. Then, I couldn't decide what type of shade I wanted on the window itself, and changed my mind after having samples sent. At no time was Susan impatient; she was encouraging and helpful. Susan wants her customers to be happy. I felt that she respected my choices, yet made suggestions when appropriate to do so. I could not be more pleased with the finished window treatment. I no longer notice the mismatched woods on the actual window frame, and absolutely love what we have done. Installation with Kary was quick, neat, and professional. The seamstress did an excellent job. Clearly, Susan has surrounded herself with a team of individuals who demonstrate the same qualities of professionalism and excellence as she herself exhibits. Susan helped me transform the first floor of my home from an 80's / early 90's feel to a modern feel. I wanted to change the design in my home for a long time now but had trouble finding the a flow. Colors, shapes and pieces didn't come together for me so I started looking into hiring someone that could be in a supportive role, but who also had the creative design vision that I lacked. (it's not easy literally envisioning how everything will fit together unless you actually see it, and by that time, you're locked in) Susan was referred to me by a friend who had nothing but accolades for her. She came to me for our first meeting and got a feel for who I am and what I would be using the spaces for. Honestly, I wasn't even sure how to answer some of the questions because I hadn't thought about it before. Questions like how often I entertain, if children would be in the space regularly and if I liked darker, richer coloring vs. lighter airier, neutral coloring. There seemed to be a process that Susan went through to get a good feeling for me and my family. She listened and that was important to me, especially because I wasn't sure what exactly I wanted. What Susan ended up doing was creating a modern reflection of the things I love and my family loves. I didn't even think about incorporating gardening into my space using high-end silk flowers for accents along with real foliage as well. Everything turned out so original and unique to our family's lives. We even reframed a ton of wall photos and staged them in such a creative way. I get so excited to come home every day now. Susan's creative flair along with her ability to hear what I was saying resulted in our entire family falling in love with our space. It's like having a new home. Since the day I met Susan back in 2003, she has been decorating every house I moved into. So far, she did three different houses for me. I love her design. Quality is what sets her apart from everyone else I worked with. Susan has an awesome personality, and it is reflected in her work. She is very creative and talented. Her designs are so elegant it wows everyones walk into our house. Her work was especially important when it came to staging our house. In this bad economy, we were very concerned about selling our house that is located right next to the train tracks. Our next door neighbor had their house in the market for nearly 400 days and still no offer. Susan staged our house so beautifully that it was sold in a matter of two months for the asking price. Our second house, we wanted to rent it, so we called Susan again. Thanks to her helpful staging tips and touchups, we rent the house in a matter of a week, once again we got the asking price. Now she is decorating my current house. The style of this house is very different, it is very contemporary and modern. She did an amazing job. The house looks like an art museum. I highly recommend her to anyone. In fact my sister is moving to Chicago soon, and she is trying to get hold of her so she can do her place as well. Gailani Designs did a great job replacing our old curtains. We had two rooms we wanted redone and Gailani really came through for us. Susan made every step of the way, from choosing fabric and color through the installation, very easy. She provided many options for us to consider in choosing how to proceed. Susan informed us as to the various mounting methods we could select to hang the curtains. She was very thorough and meticulous at every step of the process.
