Totally let down by the food but their green and dark salsa is GOOD and their draft beer is ice cold. Got there, guy at the front didn't know the menu (I'm not from in town) and he pressured me to order more food than what I wanted even though I said I only wanted two tacos. Ended up getting peer pressured into their rice and beans ($8!!!), two tacos, and a draft beer (don't get me started on the beer ordeal). When I got my food, the rice and beans consisted of a a 1/4 c scoop of mushy white rice but the beans were DELICIOUS. Tacos arrived cold as ice. Let their team know it was cold and ended up taking 20+ minutes for my two tacos to come back even though it was a slow evening. Lot of attitude served when first getting the tacos, and while they gave chips about 15 minutes after waiting for the second cook, the tacos came back barely warm and SO salty. I'd love to come back for the green salsa, beans, and ice cold beer.

A Hidden Gem! Amazing Food & Excellent Customer Service!…read more I came here a little skeptical at first because I'm pregnant and EXTREMELY picky about my food right now! However, from the moment we arrived, the customer service was outstanding! Mayte was absolutely amazing! She was so friendly, welcoming, and gave us some excellent recommendations. We ordered grilled shrimp tacos, fried shrimp tacos, grilled fish tacos, fried fish tacos, chicken tacos, and carne asada tacos. When I tell you EVERYTHING was delicious, I mean EVERYTHING! The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely amazing! And let's talk about the drinks! OMG! The lemonade was perfectly sweet and so refreshing! I mixed mine with Jamaica (hibiscus), and it was the PERFECT combination! This place is truly a HIDDEN GEM, and I'm so glad my family discovered it! Great food, generous flavor, excellent customer service, and such a friendly atmosphere. Hands down, the BEST tacos I've had since moving to Arizona! And trust me, that says a lot because I know good food! Special shoutout to Mayte for making our first visit such a wonderful experience. We will DEFINITELY be back! 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The problem is the meat. The meat is just average. If they upgraded the meat, this might be the best burrito in Arizona. That's how good the tortilla is. But because the meat doesn't match the tortilla, it ends up being just a really solid burrito instead of an amazing one. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, so I can't speak on the rest of the food. But if we're talking burritos... Best tortilla I've had. Average meat. This location is large and has a lot of tables inside and outside. There's plenty of room for large parties to congregate together and not bother other customers. There's was also a lot of sunlight pouring into the building which I enjoy. They have a large Arizona-themed wall mural and many other decorations throughout the restaurant. The menu board is both simple and diverse, as you have a choice of proteins (carne asada, pollo, al pastor, cabeza and grilled cactus!) and an assorted way to enjoy them (tacos, burrito, quesadilla, nachos, vampiro, and more). Once you place your order at the counter, they have a nice salsa bar with multiple salsas/sauces, guac, onions, radishes, cilantro, limes and more. There's also a table for all your other dining needs (utensils, napkins, salsa cups, etc). I enjoy places that trust their customers to take what they need and not take advantage of their hospitality. I ordered 3 tacos and grabbed 3 salsas to mix and match. I really enjoyed the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos, but the Pollo wasn't to my liking (had a rubbery/slimy texture and didn't taste to my expectation). The salsas/hot sauces were fine but I didn't find a favorite. Overall, this was an enjoyable lunch at a fair price and at a nice setting. Thanks Tacos Calafia!

Located on Roosevelt Row, Taco Boy's has a parking lot. It's not big, but I found a spot on a Thursday evening. Ambiance (3.5/5): Taco Boy's is a little chaotic. You order at the counter and then they call your name when your food is ready. It's not a large taco joint, and it's a popular taco joint. Which means you'll see a lot of people cycling in and out, as a lot place to-go orders too. Not the most calm experience, but not an issue for me. You'll also come out smelling like meat lol. They have an open kitchen, and it smells fantastic. The downside is that it sticks to your clothes, too. Service (4/5): Service isn't a big part of the experience, but for what it is, it's pretty smooth. They took my order quickly, I paid relatively quickly, and my food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Drinks (5/5): I'm a sucker for agua frescas. Taco Boy's delivers. They had four flavors available. I went with the pineapple/mango. It's served in a large cup. Good stuff. Food (5/5): I wasn't terribly hungry so I got a small barbacoa quesadilla. Outside of quesadillas, they have tacos, vampiros, and burritos. Your choice of meat including usual suspects like carne asada, al pastor, chicken, etc. They grill all of their food right in front of you and it's absolutely delicious. Fresh off the grill. Flavorful. Well marinated. Quality meats and ingredients. At the complimentary salsa bar, you can stock up on various sauces, limes, cucumbers, etc. I can't wait to get back to have a heartier meal and try out more of their items. Hands-down, the best Mexican food I've had in Phoenix so far (after a year and a half).
