She never knew it existed, so we of course had to make an impromptu stop! Like others have mentioned it's free and even if the Aviation Museum is closed you can still visit Jerrasic Park because it's right outside the gates. It's called Jerrasic Park after the owner Jerry (Gerald) Yagen, an aviation pilot. He started aviation schools that are the world's largest trainer of FAA licensed aircraft technicians with schools coast to coast. Those campuses are under the names Centura College and Aviation Institute of Maintenance. He is also the owner/founder of the Aviation Museum, which are his own personal collection of WW I & II planes. The metal dinosaurs were created by the artist Gilbert Ramos. The creato of many popular custom outdoor metal sculptures and garden art in Southern California. He has been creating his unique sculptures since 1997. *It's a small free park with metal sculpture dinosaurs. It's cool to check out and take fun pics with the dinos. If you go online or visit the Aviation Museum, they used to do a scavenger hunt where if you find the items you can take your sheet to the front desk of the Aviation for a little prize. Not sure if they still do that. It worth checking out if you're over in Pungo but I would not make a trip out just for the park. It will easily take you 15 minutes to go through. There is a little area in the trees across the street to park.

So it was grass and weeds growing around some of the displays. Now that it's cold I'm fine, but if it were summer I'd be terrified of seeing a snake, because there are bushes everywhere. There is so much to do in this park. Throughout the year, and especially in the summer, they have events. During the summer, it is almost daily events that you can partake in. They had music in the park one night, but with our place being so close, all we had to do was sit on the porch to listen. There is also a farmer's market, exercising in the park, I believe art in the park. If that is not your thing, there is definitely things here that could keep you busy. It should go without saying, there is a stage/bandshell area. There is a picnic area if you wanted to bring food and hang out. If you have kids, they definitely have you covered here. There is a decently sized playground (right near the public restrooms, convenient). This playground is quite extensive and inclusive. Slides, swings, seesaws, monkey bars...you name it, it is here. A lot of them are wheelchair accessible. Then there is the sandbox, complete with a turtle making it look like you are on the beach. The sidewalks here are interesting as well. Every so often you will see a seashell in the cement. Turtle tracks near the sandbox. Fossils on the climbing rocks for the jungle gym. They really put some thought into this place. Also available here for you to enjoy, horseshoe pit, cornhole, basketball court, pickle ball court, and bocce ball court. The thing about the bocce ball court, they have the state champs for Special Olympics here, complete with a plaque of sorts. One of the neatest thing here, you know those free little libraries? They got one that is a little free art library. Tiny little pieces of art that you can take with you. Bookmarks, small drawings, magnets, shells, all free for the taking. Welcome to Duck Town Park and Boardwalk in lovely Duck, NC. It's a real family and entertainment destination with an amphitheater, picnic shelter, and playground. Without question, the boardwalk and piers are the centerpiece of the property, measuring over 4,000 feet long and ten feet wide. You can take some beautiful photos of the boardwalk hovering over the water or silhouetted against the sky. The scenery along the boardwalk is gorgeous with pretty views of the Sound, sand dunes, fallen trees, and seagrass. We saw plenty of people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and simply strolling along the boardwalk or ducking into stores, bars, and restaurants, or relaxing on one of the twenty-one benches. It's operated by the same company as the Adventure Park, though each requires separate admission tickets. The entrance is about a five-minute walk from the parking lot along a pebbled path. After seeing the tower, it reminded me of the Forest Tower in Denmark and wondered if it served as an inspiration for the design. The Nautilus Tower is 65 feet tall, and you can reach the top via stairs or by a spiral ramp. There are benches along the way for those who need a break. Once at the top, I was greeted with a beautiful view of the surrounding forest and lakes. After enjoying the view, I went down the steel slide, which was a lot of fun! You sit on a mat with handles for the descent, similar to a water slide but without the water. After the steel slide, I explored the Treetop Canopy Walk, accessible from the second level of the tower. The canopy walk was nice but also a little scary, giving me "Final Destination" vibes due to the amount of swinging and swaying on the bridge. I ended my visit at the Children's Treehouse Village, which is a nice play area if you have kids. I would recommend Owl Creek Landing for anyone who loves nature, a great family outing or even a date night. It's a wonderful addition to the Virginia Beach area.

You have to keep at least 50 feet away from the horses and are not allowed to feed them. We drove around for a bit, admiring the wild horses and the beautiful homes in the area and then we set up our beach gear to enjoy the beautiful day. We brought a picnic lunch and had a great time. This is by far my favorite beach in NC.
