So, that said, I swung the dart at the board and decided to try Thomas Knight DDS. It was a lucky strike! The staff are very friendly, the location is easy to get to and convenient, the Dentist, Dr. Knight, super nice, and I think I just got the best teeth cleaning I have ever gotten. I felt like the whole experience was a good one. I have a little dental work that I am going to have to deal with, but this dentist did something I have not ever experienced. I have certainly had X-rays taken of my teeth, but he took actual photos, which was unique in a couple of ways: 1. I've not ever had a dentist photography my teeth before, and 2. He went over what he was seeing with me. I can read a photograph way better than an X-ray. He takes X-ray's also, but it was novel to actually 'see' what the heck he was talking about. I think it was the best dental experience I have had, where I actually understood why he was recommending what he was recommending, and not just agreeing because he's the expert. Then the cleaning. It started off like any normal cleaning, lots of poking and assessing gum issues and tooth scraping (my least favorite part of a cleaning) and then they used some crazy tool that used a ultrasonic vibrations and water to continue to clean under my gum line and to dislodge what they had scraped but was still in my teeth. Crazy. My teeth felt really clean already, then they did the normal polishing, dental floss, etc. Again, the staff seemed very knowledgable and friendly. A nice combination.

As you can probably guess, I was really nervous!! Well, I've been to a couple appointments with Dr. Knight now-- I'm not nearly as nervous anymore, and I think I even kind of enjoy going!! :) One thing you'll notice is that everyone seems happy and genuinely interested in their clients-- every time I've been there, the staff have smiled, remembered my name and what we talked about last time, you can hear occasional laughter, and more than occasional singing! I'm not kidding! There is usually music playing in the background, and it's like a music trivia show with Dr. Knight and his assistants, I love it! The ladies at the front desk, Ms. Gail and Ms. Karen, are super kind, personable and helpful with scheduling and making payments. And if they have changes to the schedule, they will give you a call to see if an earlier date/time works better for you. Ms. Lorna and Kristina, the dental assistants, are incredibly kind and patient, especially with anxious patients like myself! They are friendly, funny, and happy to answer questions about how things work. Dr. Knight (a fellow Californian like myself!) is also incredibly patient, generous, and congenial! Even though he was busy, he took the time to get to know me a little as a person. I liked that he took photographs of my teeth, in addition to the x-rays, and very clearly showed me and explained to me what was going on with my teeth. He made sure that I was comfortable (no pain!), and he went above and beyond to make sure my teeth were in great shape. Bainbridge Dental Care, you've got a client for life! (Well, at least as long as I stay in WA!) And if you are looking for a dentist on the island, I highly recommend them!

We really tried to give benefit of the doubt here but something really needs to be said…read more On 07/28/21 my wife went in to see Dr Fugaro for what was supposed to be a routine filling procedure on her upper incisor (tooth #9). Nothing was said before the procedure to indicate otherwise and everything seemed fine until my wife was sat up and handed a mirror to look at her gums. She was beyond horrified at what she saw. Dr Fugaro tore through her gum, exposing the root, all the way up to the top of her gum, where it meets her lip. No explaination was offered and they seemed to make it out as normal. After a few followups for pain Dr Fugaro offered to refer my wife to a periodontist for a cosmetic procedure to trim the gum off of the neighboring tooth so that it would "match". Needless to say she declined the cosmetic procedure. At this point we became alarmed and cancelled all of our upcoming appointments for ourselves and our young daughter. The front desk staff became very nasty with me at this point as I was dealing with them because my wife was too upset. Dr Fugaro did comp us the cost of the filling which was nice but shortly after sent us a very scathing letter pursuing collections of what was left over after insurance. Now, a little more than 3 years later her gum has still not healed nor will it ever. After leaving Dr Fugaro, my wife went to see Dr Nathan Russell as he is highly reputable and also president of the washington state dental association. So far Dr Russel and his collegues have been at a loss as to what to do. They say the loss of my wifes tooth is imminent. I do not understand how a routine surface filling could turn into the loss of an otherwise healthy tooth. My wife was never informed by Dr Fugaro that he was going to mangle her gums and it was done without informed consent. I thank my stars every day that I cancelled my up coming appointments and my daughters, what if he had done something to her too. If I could leave zero stars I would, I thought the days of barbershop dentistry were long gone but here we are.
