I visited Dr Cardenas for a look at my gums after being referred to her by my hygienist who works…read morewith Dr Peterson in Poulsbo. An odd caveat to the story is that the hygienist also works with Dr Cardenas 1 day a week. I thought this was a bit odd but as a past patient of Dr. Cardenas I went ahead and met with her. After looking over my gums she suggested approx. $7,000 worth of surgeries were needed to fix my alleged issue. I found this to be a bit much particularly because her office claimed they couldn't bill my new insurance and I would need to pay out of pocket and then personally bill my insurance for reimbursement. I decided to try a new dentist due to the odd referral circumstance and expensive diagnosis. The new dentist never mentioned any need for surgery and 2 years later my gums are healthier than ever. This however isn't my reason for taking the time to write this review. A year or more after meeting with Dr. Cardenas I received a bill from her office stating that I owed the full amount for the office visit, even though they stated to me they could bill my insurance for the visit. Turns out her office had my old insurance information and not newer current insurance carrier. After speaking with the office manager Amy Jewitt multiple times and her with intense hostility and a raised voice it was explained to me that I would need to pay the bill or they would be sending me to collections. At this point I called my insurance company and asked for records and they found that they had never received a bill from Amy or the office as Amy had been billing the old insurance company and was not getting a response back from them. My gripe is that after not getting paid by the insurance company for over a year the office of Dr. Cardenas chose not to either call, email or send a letter asking me for help or clarification. They simply just kept submitting invoices to the wrong company.... I could have fixed this if they would've followed up and simply asked for confirmation regarding my insurance. And after they didn't receive their money they simply started billing me for the invoice. I am very disappointed in Dr Cardenas and her staff and will be sharing this complaint with local dentists within Kitsap County t as well as any State Agency involved with medical and insurance billing.

He is, by far, the most comprehensive dentist whom I have ever treated by, was patient with my questions, and spent time on his answers and explanations to ensure I had understood them. Proper dental care is essential, and I am grateful Mark had gone out of his way to make himself accessible to me, and to treat me with such care and sincere concern. We really tried to give benefit of the doubt here but something really needs to be said…read more On 07/28/21 my wife went in to see Dr Fugaro for what was supposed to be a routine filling procedure on her upper incisor (tooth #9). Nothing was said before the procedure to indicate otherwise and everything seemed fine until my wife was sat up and handed a mirror to look at her gums. She was beyond horrified at what she saw. Dr Fugaro tore through her gum, exposing the root, all the way up to the top of her gum, where it meets her lip. No explaination was offered and they seemed to make it out as normal. After a few followups for pain Dr Fugaro offered to refer my wife to a periodontist for a cosmetic procedure to trim the gum off of the neighboring tooth so that it would "match". Needless to say she declined the cosmetic procedure. At this point we became alarmed and cancelled all of our upcoming appointments for ourselves and our young daughter. The front desk staff became very nasty with me at this point as I was dealing with them because my wife was too upset. Dr Fugaro did comp us the cost of the filling which was nice but shortly after sent us a very scathing letter pursuing collections of what was left over after insurance. Now, a little more than 3 years later her gum has still not healed nor will it ever. After leaving Dr Fugaro, my wife went to see Dr Nathan Russell as he is highly reputable and also president of the washington state dental association. So far Dr Russel and his collegues have been at a loss as to what to do. They say the loss of my wifes tooth is imminent. I do not understand how a routine surface filling could turn into the loss of an otherwise healthy tooth. My wife was never informed by Dr Fugaro that he was going to mangle her gums and it was done without informed consent. I thank my stars every day that I cancelled my up coming appointments and my daughters, what if he had done something to her too. If I could leave zero stars I would, I thought the days of barbershop dentistry were long gone but here we are.

Eventhough I told the Dr I needed extra novacaine, he didn't listen. He was so rough with the 2nd injection he caused me to scream with pain. They also wouldn't bill both my insurances. Turns out DeltaDental paid some of it so I had been billed almost $300 more. I had to call & get reimbursed. They only sent me part of amount so I had to call again! Then I had to submit another claim to Humana Dental when I found out they covered the extraction.
