I had no time to take care of the mess while moving to and organizing the new home. Let alone some stranger knocking on my door. An elderly chap with a wife in their car, I had to lend an ear and forget about the pending tax return. I don't often ask anything except do you have a town permit to solicit door to door, but I had an urge to talk. Then came the real reason he was here...the tree damage. we walked around the yard talked about what I knew had to be taken care of and a bit more. I was given a verbal price that I could not have beaten anywhere on the Cape. I agreed, we shook hands and he made a call. It was about 2PM and I was told they would be here this afternoon. Oh, yea I wondered what was next. Well, he left and about 15 minutes later a caller told me the team would be arriving about 4PM...AND THEY DID. 3 guys with an 85 foot boom truck which would be of no use for the project. OK, the 3 dawned on climbing gear and trees came down. Then a bobcat arrived on scene. Another 10 minutes and a log chipper was in front of my house. Work force was now up to 5 plus a supervisor and by 7PM everything was done! The work I had shook hands on, an additional pile of branches, the entire house frontage the the roadway in front of the house and the driveway were all cleaned. Everyone was gone when Dale rang the door bell, I paid the agreed upon price, had a nice talk with Dale and his wife. A couple of other tree problems that might need some professional attention were pointed out and a promise to return when called. Another hand shake and we departed each with friendly smiles and seance of a job well done, well above my expectations!

The Stove Place II Harwich Port, MA…read more My wife and I (Orleans, MA) had to replace our gas fireplace insert recently and The Stove Place 2 (in Harwich Port, MA) was highly recommended to us by several people. Although we initially thought our old gas fireplace simply needed servicing, it quickly became apparent that a total replacement was necessary. We visited The Stove Place 2's Harwich Port shop and spoke with Jeff, the owner. Jeff is a plain-spoken, straight shooter - the only kind I want to work with. He advised us on the models most likely to fit our current firebox, and what our installation options might be. Jeff really knows his business, so we were quickly able to choose the best solution for us. The people we worked with for the actual installation - Jeff, Bob, Dave, and Kent - were fantastic! I do not say this lightly, as I am a fairly tough critic. In short, they did what they said they would do when they said they would do it, and they did it well. Pricing was more than fair, and the customer attention was incredible. That's getting harder and harder to say that these days! Bottom line, if you live on Cape Cod and your fireplace (gas insert or otherwise) needs attention, you owe it to yourself to contact The Stove Place 2. I don't write many reviews, but I mean every word of this one - take that as my highest recommendation.

When I asked Village Stove & Fireplace, in Teaticket, to repair the gas fireplace unit they said that my warranty expired a few months ago and now it would cost more to repair it than what I originally paid which was $1284.00! WHAT!!!!??? They retuned the Log set to me all disassembled and left itin a pile on my living room floor! Oh, and while I'm at it here I want to tell you of my experience with this store the following winter after first purchasing the set. I didn't realize I was out of gas from my outdoor gas tank and the pilot went out. When I called Village Stove they sent a guy out and told me it needed gas and left. Mind you, I just bought it the season before and the store is less than 1/2mile away. Well, they charged me another $150.00 to tell me I needed gas! No good will, just bought this expensive system and they are gauging for more money! After spending almost $1300 you'd think I would get more than 5 winters out of this cheap metal set! What a rip off that was! I told them I would never do business with them again! Buyer Beware!
