She's precise and always wants to make sure my hair is done the way I like it. For a wash, cut and style, it was $50 which was reasonable. They took my temperature, took my contact information for contact tracing and everyone was wearing a mask. I felt safe during the whole process.

Serenity in the City - this business could not have a better name to describe it. Although it may…read morenot not look like a full service spa from the parking lot, it is a multi layered location that you really dont want to leave once you enter. As you open the door your blood pressure immediately reduces and your senses are delighted with dimmed lighting, aromatherapy and calming background earth and music sounds. The atmosphere is full tilt ambiance - and each area of this space is geared to the service you are receiving and engages your senses in so many wonderful ways. The interaction at the front counter could not be more pleasant - they are super friendly and attentive at all times. In terms of the reservation of appointments, booking software is not something you would normally consider when rating a salon but I must give this one mention. Their reservation system handles calendars for both the Medford and Stoneham locations and the beauty is that it sends you texts to inform you of your appts and even sends gentle reminders closer to "beauty day". In my busy life, i need and love that! Full service beauty service can be found here and the expertise of the staff is top notch -- they are qualified, very professional and exuberate "positive vibes" with not only their clients but also each other (no bickering about who stole their hair brush last kinda stuff) - which is not something you wanna hear when trying to relax and get beautiful, right? Right! I do believe the staff emulate the personality of the owner, who is undeniably the most positive, upbeat individuals i have ever met. As with many other businesses this past year, she was forced to shut her doors and lose revenue, for herself and her staff, while her clients were searching for ways to remain gorgeous. She was consistently communicative to her clients and staff on social media on how and when the shop could reopen - and when she had no answers, she was quick to creatively think of ways that she could generate revenue while still serving them well. She was one of the first owners to put together little build your own beauty kits for customers and instituted a safe/minimal contact curbside delivery for those that were not able or comfortable coming into to the shop. She is so innovative with her out of the box ideas and always delivered them with a bright eyed smile. SITC is an outstanding full service salon and spa with an atmosphere that leaves you so relaxed that you practically need smelling salts to drive home. Aight, here's the run down…read more I've been on the hunt for a good barber without breaking the bank for a long time. My hair grows out FAST, and I need a cut every two weeks. Anything pushing it is asking for trouble. At first, I was kind of iffy of giving this place a shot because I guess the general rule of the thumb is: if you're Asian, go to an Asian barber/stylist. So eff it, I gave this place a shot, been here about 4 times, and I left every time feeling super satisfied. I've been only going to James for the 4 times, and every time is a quick cut, done the way I want it, and some barber shop talks about basketball. TL;DR: A grown man hair cut is $10. Don't forget to tip.

If you're looking for a little urban flavor in your haircutting experience, go to Perfect Style at…read morethe Main-Cross intersection in Malden. Not only does Perfect Style feature a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, the people there are very friendly. The HD TV mounted on the wall doesn't hurt things, either! While the perks are good, the primary reasons for going to Perfect Style are the superior workmanship and the affordability. My hair had been overgrown by several months when I walked into Perfect Style. When I left, I looked like a new person. The attention to detail given to me by Jake was incredible. I've unfortunately paid upwards of $30 for haircuts that didn't come out half as good and precise as the cut I got at Perfect Style. I keep mentioning price, so you're probably wondering how much the haircut was already. $10. I kid you not. Ten. One Zero. I was in disbelief when I learned that a "perfect style" haircut was only $10. At first, I was kind of nervous going into the situation. After all, the phrase "Ten Dollar Haircut" isn't exactly an endearing one. However, despite paying $10 for the haircut, I left with a "Fifty Dollar Haircut". I don't know how they do it. I almost felt guilty leaving the place, having only paid $10 for such an outstanding experience (although I did give Jake a good tip to help make up for it). I cannot imagine going anywhere else for a haircut ever again. If you're ever in the area and in need of a trim, go to Perfect Style. They live up to their namesake.

I have followed Jen from Star and Style because after two trips there, I decided never to see…read moreanother stylist again. Jen knows exactly what you want even if you have a hard time articulating (which I am totally guilty of when it comes to hair). I am in love with my most recent cut, but when I was ready for a change, Jen knew how to do exactly what I wanted. Jen is friendly and very professional; she's honest with you about your hair which I think is the most important thing a hair stylist can do. For instance, I have A LOT of hair, and it's really thick. Jen was honest with me about a certain hair style and how it would have to stay short to keep it. We decided that she would cut the bulk out, but at the same time allow me to grow and keep some length. I know a lot of stylists that have refused to cut my hair this way in the past, but I've never been happier about the cuts she has been giving me. Her new shop is in a perfect location; right off of 60, but close to Medford Center and right near the Fellsway. There is plenty of street parking and you can use your credit/debit card to pay instead of rummaging through your wallet for change. The facilities are stylish and although it's doesn't look like much on the outside, the salon itself is totally modern and the quality of services will make you feel like you're downtown on Newbury Street without the pain of getting stuck in that terrible traffic. Time is a precious to everyone, so just make sure to keep your appointment, or let her know in advanced if you need to cancel or reschedule. Jen does have a cancellation policy that she emails to anyone who books an appointment with her. "Canceling or any rescheduling of your appointment with less than 24 hour notice will result in a 50% charge of the reserved service amount. No shows will be charged 100% of the reserved service amount." I rave about Jen's work so much that my boyfriend has finally stopped booking with Super Cuts and wants to book an appointment with her. I'm really looking forward to the results!
