Trying to embrace your natural curls can be difficult when sleek tresses are just a hair straightener away. My grey hair has been increasing and with that, wiry extra frizzy and resistant patches of hair have emerged. I've always been prone to frizz but these are next level. I've all but gave up, when my best friend told me about an amazing salon she went to dedicated to curly hair! She knew I've been having a hard time resisting the hair straightener an was excited for me to have this experience and treated me to my first curly cut! My appointment was with Nicole. She took care to answer my questions and also let me know what she was doing as she worked, so that I could follow the same steps at home. She took time to explain each product as well and paid special attention to my grey hair which is one of my biggest challenges now. There was a different girl who shampooed my hair and she was great as well, she also explained what she was doing and using. You can sometimes feel very vulnerable at a salon but both of them put me at ease and were so complimentary, I truly felt pampered and confident. At the end of my service she had all the products used lined up and there was no pressure at all to buy. Everything she used was also written on a paper that sums up the step by step process for my hair. I love that I had a take home to reference for my first wash day and also for any products I did not get at that time. The salon itself is super cute and girly, they even have a Photo Booth-type of set up with ring lights and a cute backdrop so you can really get the perfect insta-worthy photo! Allison met me in the front and greeted me. We walked together to the suite. She talked about my goals and challenges. Then she assessed my hair based off what she saw and felt. She trimmed it dry into a shape that best suit me. Then she washed and conditioned. When conditioned she detangled very gently. Throughout the process she explained everything to me. Then she styled with the best product to style my hair. I was under the hooded dryer for 30 minutes. I wanted my curls stretched a little and she did that. To end the appointment she explained all the products and their purpose for my hair. I already booked for my 6 month appointment. My natural hair is tight, coarse and dry. I really wanted to give this place a chance. My aunt and I both have curly hair (I came in with my hair straight) I told my aunt that I had seen this place while driving into Babylon a few times. I hadn't come in due to my best friend saying how the women here didn't know how to style Hispanic hair and they were a bit curt and arrogant. Regardless, I said let's go check and try it out. My aunt was looking for a salon that worked with curly hair because she wanted a new styling cream and some highlights but we wanted to see how we were treated first. I work in luxury retail and if I treated anyone the way we were treated I would've gotten a write up. The concierge told my aunt her hair didn't look curly (she had her hair up) and then he asked a stylist with long blonde hair for assistance. This woman was very apathetic. My aunt asked her what cream she would recommend to style her hair and she looked so bothered that she was stopped to be asked a simple question. Then my aunt asked for a price and this arrogant woman proceeded to say "the prices are on the bottom" and walked away. Now, I know your business doesn't care that we won't ever be coming back. This salon refuses to just cut hair. They insist on a full package for a first time client that includes a deep conditioning treatment, a "lesson" on styling your hair, and a microfiber towel. I asked if I can just get a maintenance cut which costs half of the first client visit - I used to live in the city and got regular cuts at a salon for curly hair there - and that I have no need for a lesson or towel or anything else, as I already have the tools and skills I need. They said no, I would be required to book the first time client visit. They said I could decline the other services but they would still charge me the higher price. What a scam, and a terrible way to do business. Go somewhere else. read more

I came to this establishment hoping to revive my daughter's curls. It was my first time here and they recommended a deep treatment, haircut, and styling of her curls. When it came down to styling her curls the lady put gel and then just started to "diffuse" (dry) her hair claiming that she was done. I was very unhappy with the results as my daughter's curls were not defined or voluminous in any way, she was in the chair for about an hour and it just looked like her hair was washed and dried without styling. I was charged $250. I am extremely disappointed with the service as this establishment claims to be a curls professional. Still, their work is what anyone can do at home themselves and they only need a good wash and conditioning routine and a diffusing tool. I would not recommend, save your money. read more

I normally take her to my regular hair dresser who does a great job but I figured since she has curly hair, I'd try going to a salon that specializes in curly hair.
