She has the most amazing stylists. You will never be disappointed. I was actually surprised to see one negative review out of all the 5 star reviews. I have always hated getting my hair cut until I went to Shear Instincts and met Janine. She is amazing, I've been going to her for color, cuts and styles for years now and I can't imagine going anywhere else. The salon atmosphere is relaxing and very friendly, not at all pretentious like so many others on the Island. I started going to shear instincts about 3 years ago and to say this salon is the best i've been to is an understatement. From the moment I walk in to the moment I leave the experience is top tier. My hairdresser Sammy does an amazing job at making me feel and look beautiful. The staff is warm and welcoming every single time I'm there. This atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and you feel like you're with your girlfriends. Not only is the staff so kind but they are extremely talented in what they do. They have so much to offer. This is an update to my last post - Since my review Stefani has sent me a nasty message & has decided to "find" me on Facebook ...Although I am the one who feels wronged. I asked her to tone down the brassiness of my highlights - she put a dark glaze on my hair that covered any of the highlights that I got 2 months ago - my lighter hair is now black - The owner Katie said maybe she was trying to match all of my hair to my roots (which I never asked for) - either way my natural hair color is Brown not black! I have had many stylists do my hair - never have I encountered such an angry & abrupt woman who acted like a know it all and really had no idea how to do my hair - She also tried to "fix" my original haircut it looks terrible - her fix made it worse. That is my opinion - not sure what misrepresentation she is talking about??? The other women in the salon didn't hear the way Stefani spoke to me. Hopefully she is finished being angry now. How unprofessional and inappropriate to "find" a customer who was at your salon once, who already feels wronged and make the situation more uncomfortable. If I receive any additional messages from Stefani on any platform I will pass along the information and handle accordingly. read more

Got my hair cut here yesterday by Stephanie, who did a great job! My hair can be notoriously difficult to work with, because it's so thick. I asked a million questions about styling and what products I should get to make taming it a bit easier, and she was very patient with me. She was patient and explained everything she was doing before she did it. She also did my color, which turned out amazing. I actually walked out happy with my cut and blow out too.
