This was another recommendation from the friend we were staying with, and it was a tasty stop. Pulling into the shopping center we were both pretty impressed by the layout and design of the area made to look like a small downtown, in any town America. Walking in the cashier greeted us as we entered the fun local donut shop. They had many tasty looking options which made it tough. But we each picked 2 and hit the road. Snacking on them through the drive, they were delicious addition to the day. I'll definitely visit this spot again next time, and will check out some of the other shops near by!

There was also live music and a small crowd in the middle of Cambridge Square, so it was nice that we could pop in for a sweet treat and enjoy a show after. This place was pretty popular even when we walked in. There was a small line in front of us, but the cashiers were quick to get to us. When we were in line there were a couple of donuts that were completely out, presumably very popular donuts. Despite this, they still had a huge variety to choose from. I got a half dozen glazed donut holes and a strawberry jam filled glazed donut. I started with the donut holes and honestly, I probably could've got a dozen for myself. They were delicious, bite sized, and had a nice soft and chewy texture. I loved it, no complaints. For the next morning, I had my strawberry jam glazed donut. The next day, texture held up pretty well. It was still soft and chewy. I had my first bite and was so surprised and how much jam there was inside. Tasty Donuts does not play about filling. It was good. The jam was slightly too sweet for me, but it didn't take away from my experience. It was still tasty. I'd definitely come back again, I enjoyed what I got. Thanks for having us!

So we arrive just about 15 minutes early but were immediately seated. It was a bit confusing about where the host stand is since there are two entrances... but no problem because the owner was at the bar to greet us. The customer service is top tier! The venue is beautiful! But the food ... left something to be desired. I ordered the pot roast based on recommendations from the waiter. He also recommended the greens over the green beans. I also added a side of mashed potatoes and fried corn. So first, the plate came out messy (see pic). It would have only taken a second to wipe off the edge of the plate. Then the pot was appeared shredded and covered in thyme and rosemary. Both over powered the meat. I'm wondering if I had the last piece and they covered things up with the extra seasoning from the bottom. My friend also ordered the pot roast and although hers was also chopped, she did not have as much thyme and rosemary- although she complained that it was too much. Next the greens tasted unseasoned and undercooked. The fried corn was not fried but were kernels of sweet corn in some type of cornstarch slurry - awful! The mashed potatoes are boxed but edible however the white gravy was not good. I missed on the menu that the gravy is white - it should be brown. Finally, we received a piece of cornbread- it was very dense but sweet. My friends liked it but I did not. My friends had a mix of feelings from "it was good" to "just ok but I won't take my left overs home." Needless to say I also did not take my left overs home. One saving grace about the meal was the fruit tea! It was delicious! I also ordered two chocolate covered strawberries for dessert and I wished I ordered more! Since it was four friends birthday- the singer (yes there was live music) called out their names and sang a rendition of "Happy Birthday". This same singer had the room up and dancing on several song! She did a wonderful job. Plus the restaurant provided a free dessert to each of the four birthday friends! They all enjoyed their desserts! So the verdict... the venue is beautiful and a vibe for a Saturday night but unfortunately I won't return for the good. There are much better spots for soul food at much cheaper price point!

I am gluten intolerant and they have a 10 inch pizza crust that is very tasty. My first bite was a little slice of heaven. My husband was mesmerized with the "5 lb pizza" and ordered it for himself. We were there for late lunch so he had pizza for dinner and breakfast and lunch the next day. He also agreed that it was the best pizza he has ever had. The ice teas were very good too. There was a slice of Derby pie, which we had never had before, so we got it to go. The waitress told us to warm it for 15/20 seconds in the microwave and add whipped topping or ice cream. OMG, gf or not I had to sample. It was a warm slice of ooey gooey awesomeness. Now I'll be going home to try to make a gf one. The owner stopped out of the kitchen to ask us how things were going which was a nice welcoming touch. We told him we were from Northern WI and he mentioned he use to sell his BBQ sauce there. When we got up to leave I noticed a bottle of BBQ sauce on the counter by the register so maybe he still sells it? Wish I had asked questions about it. We were there around 2 pm on a Wednesday afternoon and there were a couple other tables occupied and a couple of walk-in pickups. Otherwise it was fair quiet but homey and comfortable.
