I was able to find street parking, which was shocking to me for a Saturday! This store is very open and full of light. The decor is adorable. They had quite the extensive inventory of books. I bought a staff recommended summer read and it was great! They have great merchandise and punny, bookish bookmarks, bookends, etc. This indie store is such a fun vibe and I look forward to coming back, supporting local and checking more titles out!

They have new and used books for sale, as well as special copies, board games, puzzles, records, and DVDs. And they buy and sell all of it! The place is huge inside (much larger than it looks from the front), and if you sell things to them you can either get cash or store credit (you do get slightly more bang for your buck if you choose store credit). I've been coming to Maya Books and Music for years and always find something good when I stop in…read more The store is clean, orderly, and the book sections are clearly displayed; however, it doesn't hurt to ask for help from the owner, she knows where everything is. On my most previous visit I was looking specifically for piano sheet music, and the owner informed me they were upstairs in a basket under the W-X & Y-Z section of Rock CD's, and sure enough, they were exactly where she said they were. Luckily for me I found two books in great condition - Bach Short Preludes and Fugues for the Piano for $3.95 and Bella Bartok Mikrokosmos Piano Solo Vol III for $3.50, great deal! There is also a variety of other instrument sheet music for clarinet, trumpet, guitar, mandolin, and more in this section. They have a great variety of used music CD's and Vinyl's upstairs for sale at a reasonable price. I've purchased CD's from here for $4 and less, but some could be higher if they are rare or brand new in the cellophane wrap. I haven't purchased any Vinyl's but they do have a decent selection. There are also a variety of posters and old collectable magazines here for sale, which is cool. I actually have some of the Guitar Magazine ones they are selling for $25 and more. The owner informed me that she acquired a much larger store in another state and will have a lot more books and other items coming after the New Year, so be sure to stop in and see what they have to offer. Something to note is the owner is not flexible with pricing so I don't recommend trying to get a better price by buying multiple items and talking her down, it just wont work. Another thing is there is really nowhere to sit down to read for a few minutes to see if you want to buy a book your interested in, even if you try, you quickly become crowded in by other shoppers trying to get around you. All-in-all, Maya Books and Music provide a fun shopping experience if you're a book lover and just happen to be in Downtown Sanford Shopping. I highly recommend stopping in to check them out.

I have found some wonderful books here and if you go upstairs you'll find all sorts of records. To me the books are well priced, and the owner is always so so welcoming! Before writing my review I did read some other reviews about people trying to ask for price matching, which honestly I find weird to do with a small book shop (do it to the corporate businesses, not the small shops - but that's just my opinion). I also don't think the owner does price matching or accept any haggling as I did overhear her telling a couple she did not. Anyways a great book shop to visit and if you love to support local shops, this is one to visit and support!

They have a great little cafe, and all of the genres of books are organized so they are easy to find. They offer some great classics such as Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespeare, the Brothers Grimm, and many more in beautifully designed hard covers for $10, which is hard to pass up. If you are a music lover like me, they do have a decent selection of Vinal's and CD's available for purchase plus they have a whole section of books dedicated to music, biographies about musicians, and some popular sheet music books available for piano and guitar. They could definitely improve the sheet music section but overall, it's not terrible. There are some great stationary items here for purchase that are of higher quality than you might find at the cheap-o dollar store if you are looking for something special and unique. I also love their notebooks and journals that have a soft leather covering, very cool. If you shop here often, they also have memberships available where you can save on your next purchase, comparative to something Barnes and Noble offers. I recommend stopping in if you're in the Oviedo Mall, it's a great book store with a lot to offer.

Fantastic prices can be found inside as well as a great selection. Toys and games are also Included in the inventory. I've been visiting this location for literally years and they keep the friendly service available not only at checkout but also at the coffee shop attached. If they don't have a book they can try to order it for you. But they also have book clubs and special events to enjoy every month. I don't think I have EVER walked out of this store without buying a book. There is always a good deal in there somewhere!
