I found this office through a Groupon deal. I purchased one for my daughter and another for myself. It was for 12 visits, exam and an hour long massage EACH. Anyway, I called to make an appt 2 weeks before the deal expired. The appt ended up being slightly after the expiration date but since I had called before the deal ended it was fine according the scheduler as well as Groupon rules. So, no problem there, right? WRONG. (more on this later.....)
So, I get to the appointment at 1030. It's a converted house... No frills, shabby and dingy comes to mind. Most of the clients seem to be "common Joe." We arrive and need to fill out the paperwork and watch the 15 min video in the loudest office ever, which made the 1990's style video more annoying. It took me 10 mins to get checked in at the front desk; there was a lady there with a bunch of kids taking up the small receiving area. While I am signing in, the older woman (OW) at the front desk (no name tags here) tells me that she needs my DL and insurance card. I remind her about the voucher from Groupon. She tells me the ins card is required to see the doctor. First indication that I might be in the wrong place because I don't know if I'm going to continue with this doctor after the 12 visits since I hadn't even had the one, nor was I notified that an ins card would be necessary by them or groupon. Typically I use Groupon to audition a business. So, needless to say, they were failing. Anyway I told the OW at the desk that I would bring it back later at another visit. I also felt like she was too anxious to get it as if I was going to order some sort of services that were not covered by the voucher, which was not the case because the voucher covered everything that you would typically need for a first visit through 12, it covered the exam - - the adjustments, the assessment, everything!
Anyway, finally we're checked in and waiting on the doctor. We were sent to an exam room. While we were there the OW bursts into the room to discuss the ins card again. She asked me if I knew who was my provider; I told her Humana. She says "Oh they don't pay for chiro." I'm thinking so.... I wasn't concerned about that because of the number of visits I purchased for myself and my daughter, plus I had read reviews prior to coming to this office and knew that they had monthly plans. This was another reason why I chose to come to this office.
Highlight of the appointment, the doctors. A younger doctor spoke to us about our paperwork. He x-rayed us and discussed the results. We were then led back to the exam room and waited another 20 minutes to see the older doctor. He was pleasant and just really seemed to be really knowledgeable. Unfortunately by the time he was able to see us to discuss our treatment plan he had run out of time. So, he asked us to schedule another appt to discuss a treatment plan. So, I went back up to the front desk and told them what he told us and that I needed to schedule the appointment. We settled on a day for the appointment OW also said that I would need to come 3 times a week... Even though a treatment plan had not been discussed with the doctor and he hadn't indicated the level of frequency based on my exam. Nevertheless. I was more than ready to leave. So, I decided I would take it up with the doctor and reconfirm the frequency during the next visit. However before I could leave, a younger woman comes from the back office and loudly states that the Groupon deal had already expired and they were honoring it as a courtesy, emphasized "as a courtesy." And that I would need to bring my ins card back with me to my next visit to be seen by the doctor. I told her that I had made the appointment prior to the expiration and was not told there would be any issue seeing me. She continued to talk in a loud voice about the fact that they were doing it as a courtesy. We didn't leave this place until 1:30 for a 10:30 appt and the treatment plan hadn't even been discussed. For that reason alone, I would have had serious doubts about using this chiropractor long term, but with the rudeness and money hungry tactics that the front desk chicks exhibited, I had no choice but to never patronize this place. It's a huge shame because as I said I really liked the doctors, but their front desk leaves more than something to be desired. Perhaps they are used to talking to their regulars a certain way, but I cannot handle common behavior and rude antics. We just met and they wanted to skip the courtship and go for the full Monty. Really disappointing. Groupon refunded me for both vouchers (nearly $200).
