THEY FORGOT TO BAKE MY WEDDING CAKE. And 4 weeks later, still have not provided me a full refund,…read moreeven after promising to do so. Countless email exchanges and multiple texts have been made between myself and the owner, Dennis Stanley, and still I find myself not financially whole. The least they can do is return what I paid. As I will never be truly whole.. for the wedding cake was what I was looking forward to the most, and the realization it would not be coming left me in tears. To do this to a bride and then have her continuously email for restitution and provide TERRIBLE communication is a truly awful thing to do. ***DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS*** And in general, their communication is terrible. They don't answer the phone and you have to email 2 or 3 times before they respond. Weddings are already expensive and stressful -- do yourself a favor and don't add to it by using Chantel's Bakery. EDIT AFTER OWNER COMMENT: Chantel's Bakery never reached out to me after the credit card did not go through. Actually, the opposite. I emailed Chantel's two days after the in-person meeting informing them that my credit card had not been charged and asked when it would be. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. It was not until the morning of my wedding did I receive a PayPal invoice, in which was paid within 3 hours of receipt. Maybe a planner would have been helpful in completing additional follow-ups with the business WHICH IS CLEARLY REQUIRED, so that I didn't have to be the one to realize the cake was missing. However, a business should establish some sort of organization that would allow them not to forget an order IN THE FIRST PLACE. The sad fact is that Dennis told me that the error should have never happened it was entirely their fault and he would provide a FULL REFUND which he has failed to do. They may not have time to complete your order or follow through on promises made, but they sure do have time to falsely respond to negative reviews. Again, I repeat DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS.

It's even smaller, and in a tiny random, not where you would expect to find bakery! It has a tiny display of fresh pastries, shelf full of fresh baked breads and freezer full of more breads! Service is great, always with a smile. We tried a little bit of everything and ended up going back a couple of days later for some fresh bread. Finding good, like good gf bread is really hard. Most times literally hard. Got the brioche buns and was impressed for gf buns! Yes they still fell apart. Yes they weren't as soft as traditional brioche, but they were good for gf buns. I love their ham and cheese croissant. It's greasy, I prefer it cold, my kid only likes it warmed up. Donut is by far the best gf cake style donut we've ever had. It's light, flavor is incredible, moist. I typically skip gf cake donuts, but this one was calling to me, so happy we got it. Cinnamon roll was not good. Frosting had zero sugar. It was hard as a rock, so no one wanted to eat it. But as most gf cinnamon rolls, you have to eat them within a few hours, so this one could have just been too old. There's a decent amount of gluten free bakeries scattered across the DMV area, but this is by far the best for bread! The best variety, fresh and frozen. If they sell out of something you can count on they'll have a back up of something similar. Also. surprised to see complaining about prices..... I actually think they aee cheap for gluten free items!

Little…read moredid we know that we had timed our visit to coincide with their official grand opening celebration - what happy luck! There were balloons and lots of families enjoying the great green area out front and lots of amazing cupcakes (and cookies and ice cream) to try inside. YUM! We chose the mocha chocolate oreo, the toasted s'mores, the caramel brownie cheesecake and the pumpkin pie-ception. Each one was very tasty and had a great texture. Our favorite, surprisingly for chocoholics - was the pumpkin pie one. It had so much flavor and was not at all too sweet. Most of the cupcakes had clever mini dessert decorations on top whether it be a tiny slice of pie, brownie or marshmallow which added to the fun. They also have special decorations for the holidays. The space itself is very bright and cheery and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. There are tables outside on the mini green and plenty of nearby parking. Lil Cakes & Creamery will definitely be a stop for us when we are in the neighborhood, after all, there are still many variations of their cupcakes to try and ice cream and cookies....

It's not easy to find. Their address is on Southbank Street, but it can be easy to miss it as it is behind Robek's. We were here on a Sunday around 5 p.m. The first thing I noticed was that they didn't have very many items left. The young man who was behind the counter was friendly and patient. I decided to order two lemon cupcakes and two birthday cupcakes. There were only two birthday cupcakes left, so I guess I timed it right. Four cupcakes ended up costing $18, which seems to be on the expensive side. As for the cupcakes, the lemon ones were for my husband. He thought the lemon flavoring could have been more prominent. We also noticed that the cupcakes were on the oily side. On the plus side, the cake part was very light in texture. This place is basically a take out set up, as it is small. We're not sure if we would return. If we did return, it would be for a meal in the area.
