There are many options to choose from, but decided to go to the "Sweet Bites by Lizzie". Just to let you know, you can't go wrong with this place. The customer cakes are outstandingly delicious and created with heart. Besides the wonderful cake I got a s'mores cookie and a carrot cake. The cookie was great the flavors were tremendous, if you go I recommend this one. The carrot cake was equally delicious and great with a cup of coffee. If you are looking for a dessert place that offers custom offerings this is the place to go to.

Furthermore, the final cake looked absolutely nothing like the photos Communication was incredibly disorganized. The day before the wedding, she called to ask if I had the flowers for the cake, even though I had already paid her to provide them. She also called to ask if we needed delivery, which was also already paid for in advance. When I addressed these issues, she was very rude and tried to blame the mistakes on graduation week--which is completely unacceptable given that I booked and paid well in advance. I would not recommend this business to anyone

The kids and I wanted to try so many different things. We ended up with two boxes of tasty goodness, and I took pictures of none of it. I liked that the kolache dough was sweet, not like regular bread. My favorite was the snickerdoodle. My husband just had to have an apple turnover, which he said tasted the same as it had when he used to come visit his grandparents in this town as a child. We will definitely stop in next time we drive through New Braunfels!

The bakery was founded in 1868; it is recognized as the oldest continuously operating bakery in Texas. Naegelin Bakery is located in downtown New Braunfels, which makes it convenient for sightseeing and picking items up to enjoy while engaging in local activities. The bakery has old-world charm...old school display cases and shelving along with the quintessential bakery smell. You are immediately drawn into the bakery web. Definitely an ole school bakery... Naegelin's is known for traditional German baked goods, including apple strudel, kolaches (both fruit and meat), German rye bread, and its iconic pink-frosted Lebkuchen cookies. According to bakery staff, many recipes are still based on formulas developed generations ago. I purchased apple strudel, oatmeal raisan cookies and a piece of cheesecake. All were good, however, the strudel was the standout. The bakery also offers a wide range of breads, cakes, doughnuts, and seasonal items, making it easy to find something regardless of taste or occasion.

I have reached a point in life where I'm downright offended when I spend good money on mediocre…read moresweets. If I'm handing over my hard-earned dollars, I expect happiness. I expect joy. I expect a little dance from my tastebuds. And thankfully, that's exactly what I found at Art House Bakery. The first thing that struck me wasn't the cake--it was the woman behind the counter. I'm not sure if she was the owner or not, but she was an absolute delight. The kind of person who makes you feel genuinely welcome the second you walk through the door. Not customer-service nice. Truly happy-you're-here nice. While perusing the sweet treats, I noticed pa filled with assorted cake slices. She explained that they were made up of cakes that might not have been perfectly level, didn't quite meet their decorating standards, or were a day old. Friends... These containers were $5. FIVE. DOLLARS. Naturally, I bought two because I possess both common sense and a sweet tooth. One container had two vanilla slices and a chocolate slice. The other had vanilla and red velvet. I made it all the way to my car before my self-control failed me and I took a bite. YUM. The cake was moist, flavorful, and had that unmistakable made-from-scratch quality that separates good bakeries from grocery store cake pretending to be special. What impressed me even more was what happened afterward. I shared some with one of my daughters the next day, and by then the cake was at least three days old. It was still delicious. And that speaks volumes. Any bakery can impress you with a cake that came out of the oven six hours ago. A truly talented bakery produces cakes that maintain their texture, flavor, and integrity days later. Eventually the whole family sampled pieces, and every single person agreed: this place is fantastic. Between the warm welcome, the incredible value, and cake that made me question whether I should have purchased a third container, Art House Bakery absolutely won me over. I'm thrilled to know there's a spot in New Braunfels ready to handle my sweet tooth whenever the need arises. And if Marie Antoinette would have said, "Let them eat cake," and meant Art House Bakery, it might have ben forgivable.

We agreed to eat on the patio only because it was crazy in Gruene with a ton of different celebrations. It was a little cool outside, but they didn't have their propane heaters on. We were told they were out of propane. So, then we order our drinks. You can't really mess up a draft beer, but my amaretto sour... the bar tender needs to take some classes. I took 3 drinks, and left it almost full. The water was better. Now to the food... I ordered a Caesar salad to start, it would have been amazing if it doesn't have a horseradish taste, and they used real shaved Parmesan cheese instead of grated Kraft out of a container. Hubby got the asparagus soup, he said it really had no flavor, but he was hungry. I ordered the steak frites, medium with a side of the jalapeño cream sauce. My steak was so beyond over well done, the steak knife had a hard time cutting it. The garlic mashed potatoes with the jalapeño cream sauce were the best part of my meal. The server noticed I didn't touch the meat, and maybe 2-3 bites of the potatoes and pushed my plate to the side. Hubby ordered the large ribeye, ordered it medium, it came out medium well, and well in several parts. Asparagus was the vegetable of the evening, but they were out (at 6pm) and subbed it for cauliflower, and didn't even ask if that was ok. My hubby won't eat cauliflower, so it stayed on the plate. The only positive about this meal is the manager took my steak frites off the bill I had read mixed reviews, but wanted to give it a fair chance. This is obviously going to be a one and done visit for us when your bill is almost $150 and the food isn't correct or swapped out with their choice, that that's just bad business.
