If you like fried seafood, this is it. A small spot with a laid back touch. Just get yourself a cup of whatever your heart wishes and you'll have a good time. Mine had fried cheese balls, French fries, calamari, shrimp, and others I can't remember. It's a lil pricey but you're in the Amalfi coast and it's seafood.

Husband ate here because it was gluten free. Said the food was excellent and loved it!

Went here twice during our stay. The food was great on both occasions. I do wish it was a little crispier on some parts but it was fresh. Service was nice and easy. The ambiance was cute, they have indoor seating and outdoor. It is a little pricy for the amount of food you get but it is Amalfi.

This place is a little hard to find. It's very small and it's located in a tiny plaza that's off the beat and path from the main road. I walked in and was greeted by a wonderful lady who was running a one-woman-show. I started to order off the menu and after asking her some questions, she told me I could customize my order with whatever I want because it wasn't busy at the moment. I chose the squid, shrimp and fish ball. It's served in a cone and I dusted it off while walking back to our stay. Everything was so fresh and so crispy, I've never had anything like it before. Perfect amount of salt and fishy flavor for my seafood lovers. True Amalfi street food. I highly recommend stopping by while in the area!

This place wasn't bad but I was expecting much better. The price is great and they have a good number of options. I got the calamari and potato chip cup and the chips were mostly soggy, the crisp ones were great. The calamari itself was good but not great, the place has everything frozen and they fry it to order and you can tell it's not fresh. I'd still go back to try the other options

Two orders of smelt and octopus (cuoppo marinaro), at the outside table.

4.5 stars overall. Very small food-street type establishment with a couple of tables inside and outside. FOOD: 5.0. Fresh food deep-fried to order, mostly seafood, served in a cardboard cone. We had smelt and octopus. Outstanding! SERVICE: 4.0. AMBIANCE: 3.5. Nice to sit outside.

A great little street food place tucked away in an alley just off Piazza Duomo! I found this place using Yelp and I'm so glad it was listed! It helped to avoid the very busy restaurants and cafés in the main piazza and street. The food was lovely - we decided to have the mixed fish (calamari, shrimp and I think whitebait) and some fries to share between two of us which was plenty! The food was cooked fresh there and then and was pretty reasonably priced, especially compared to some of the cafés in the main piazza! The reason I only gave 4 is that there was hardly anywhere to sit, we ended up on a little bench which looked like it was public then got shouted at by some irate manager to get off as we were eating food not from their shop! Oh well! If you want something quick and delicious definitely come here!

I specifically looked for this location because I heard cuoppo is the thing to eat when in amalfi. It was very easy to find and there were signs guiding you to the store. Was fresh, made quickly, and reasonably priced (especially when thinking about price/quality ratio). I would recommend to anyone in amalfi, especially after a long day in the water!

Great street food. Fried calamari, shrimp, anchovies and small fish in a cone. All for 7,50 euros...a bargain.

I thought Japanese fusion was definitely odd for the area, but we figured why not and gave it a try. Best decision ever. It's pretty reasonable in prices, especially for the fresh quality of the food. The place is very cute and low-lit - perfect for a date night. Starters: miso soup Entrees: 4 rolls of uramaki sushi (dragon roll, tuna with amalfi lemon zest, shrimp tempura/kiwi, and another with tuna/philly cream cheese/potato chip) Desserts: oreo cheesecake in a jar WOW. I was absolutely blown out of the water by this sushi. All of the fish was incredibly fresh and the toppings were so unique. Plus, the rolls were executed flawlessly. We both agreed, however, that the philly cream cheese/potato chip one was the best. The potato chip was HOMEMADE - like each roll had an individually golden fried chip on top. The combination of salty, crunchy and creamy was to-die-for. The miso soup was really good, as were those addicting cheesecakes in jars. After we left, we were so mad we didn't order 1 or 2 more rolls of sushi, they were that good. I will forever reminisce about this sushi and hold all other sushi to this standard.

We started with an amuse-bouche (compliments of the chef), which was a parmesan cracker with ricotta. We shared two appetizers among the four of us - a tuna carpaccio in citrus fruit and poached eggs with black truffle. The poached egg came in a sauce that was totally delicious and mop-able with bread. The tuna was fantastic and very light. For the main, our table split the pasta stuffed with burrata and black truffle and the risotto with red shrimp in lemon sauce. Absolutely incredible! The risotto was soooo refreshing and light and cooked perfectly. The truffle pasta was full umami flavor and a flavor party. We ended with delicious desserts, my husband got the hazelnut coffee which he loved and I got a lemon assortment. This had a lemon cream brulee sort of preparation which I loved. The wines here were also fantastic and the service prompt and great!

For my entree I had the zucchini GF pasta. The pasta was good but the sauce was a bit overwhelming. It wasn't my favorite. My friend ordered the La Genovese with GF pasta and it was really enjoyable. They only had 1 GF dessert so we opted to get the lemon sorbet. They also brought out a few GF candies as well. Overall the service and views were really nice but I wasn't a fan of my entree.

With only an hour to spare, we were hoping for a quick but authentic Italian meal, and Royal delivered. The service was impressively fast, which is exactly what we needed. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, and I can confidently say it was the best I've had in a very long time--rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I honestly wanted to lick the plate clean to savor every last bite. My boyfriend went with the lasagna and thought it was tasty and satisfying, though it didn't quite steal the show like my dish did. Each meal came with a simple but fresh bag of bread, which turned out to be perfect for soaking up the remaining sauce--no drop left behind! For drinks, I tried a limoncello spritz--refreshing but a little more bitter than I expected. I forgot it wasn't supposed to be sweet, so it didn't wow me. My boyfriend gave it a try and wasn't a fan at all--he quickly swapped it out for a classic Coke. The restaurant itself is quite small, so most seating is outdoors, which actually worked in our favor. Sitting outside gave us a chance to enjoy the scenery, people-watch, and map out our next move: a trip to the gelato place directly across the way. Bottom Line: If you're short on time but craving quality Italian food with a side of Amalfi charm, Royal Restaurant is a solid pick. Go for the eggplant Parmesan and the people-watching; maybe skip the limoncello spritz if you're expecting something sweet.

A first to leave a negative review, but this experience deserves one…read more We visited Lido Azzurro based on a recommendation while spending several days on the Amalfi Coast. Up until this meal, every restaurant we had visited was excellent. This was, without question, the most disappointing dining experience of our trip. I have traveled extensively around the world and have enjoyed incredible food as well as meals that simply weren't my favorite. Even when I haven't loved a dish, I've usually finished it. This was different. I ordered the grilled seafood, which included king prawns and squid. I didn't eat either of them because the calamari was so tough that my knife could barely cut through it. If I couldn't cut through it with a knife, why would I subject my teeth (that years of orthodontics worked so hard to perfect) to chewing it? The dish was also incredibly bland. My friend's pasta wasn't even close to al dente. It was simply not enjoyable. The food was disappointing, but what made the experience truly unacceptable was the way I was treated. When I explained why I wasn't going to continue eating my meal, the host told me that I didn't know what fresh seafood tastes like and implied I didn't understand how fresh food should be prepared. I've eaten fresh seafood in many countries, and freshness does not excuse toughness or a complete lack of seasoning. Even Ratatouille himself would have jumped into the kitchen and added some seasoning. To then ask if I wanted to order something else after dismissing my concerns felt insincere. Why would I want more food after all of our food was disgusting and clearly I do not know what fresh seafood taste like? If there were a Michelin category for bland food and poor customer service, this place might finally earn a mention. Getting to the Amalfi Coast from the United States--or from almost anywhere--isn't a quick or inexpensive trip. People save, plan, and work hard for the opportunity to experience this beautiful destination. When you finally arrive, you hope for wonderful food, warm hospitality (insert sarcasm), and memorable experiences. Unfortunately, Lido Azzurro delivered none of those. The scenery around Amalfi is breathtaking, but this restaurant was the biggest disappointment of our visit.
