This was the first time I'd been to a Culver's. We dined inside and ordered at the counter. Then someone brought out our food to us. It was busy on a Friday evening around 6pm, but we didn't wait more than 10min. for our food. The dining rooms and bathrooms were clean and stocked. I ordered one of the deluxe single patty butter burgers with all the toppings and really enjoyed it. I also ordered a side of cheese curds with ranch that were yummy. Everything was hot and fresh! It's a fast food chain so it's exactly what I expected. You can either order at your table through a QR code or order at the counter and they bring you your food. The burgers were ok but didn't stand out and it reminds me of Shake Shack burgers where it's smashed except their buns are thicker and not as soft. I was hoping for delicious cheese curds but the breading was too thick and the cheese was not melty at all. Their custard style shakes were pretty good but it's like eating ice cream so what can be bad about that? read more

I was very disappointed in the size of the fish in the cod sandwich. On Tv the fish is shown to be larger than the bun but in reality it was much smaller than the bun itself. Fine for a 4$ sandwich but not an $8 one. read more

Feeling hungry and Culvers always hits the spot. Place is wide open no partitions like the one in Shelby. Clean, and the girl at the register repeated back every word to insure they got it right. Shows the employees were trained right. The only thing that was weird was in the bathroom they had a bin for disposing of needles. I knew SagNasty had a he-ron problem but DAM never seen anything like that before. Anyways, service and food were both good. More like 3.5 Stars. We SoCal folks popped our MidWest Culvers cherry finally! We were driving home from Mackinac Island and hit traffic in Saginaw so we thought this was a good time to stop for lunch. My review is based on comparing it to In N' Out b/c everyone told us Culvers was the "In n' Out of the Midwest." I had the cheddar butter burger and yes, it was similar to In N' Out in that the patties are not preformed, thin, Grass-fed and actually taste "healthy". Their buns are too thick though and where's this "butter-bun" they promised? It was more like buttered on one side. They don't add the thousand island dressing that In N' Out is known for, just your standard ketchup, mustard and mayo. I said no to the Mayo. Eww. Aioli, yes, straight up mayo? No, no, no. Typical burger additions were included: fresh lettuce, tomato, and purple onions. I wonder if I could've asked for grilled onions like In N' Out. Maybe next time. Onion rings and crinkle fries were your standard pre-frozen Sysco/Mc Cain brand probably. Not overly fried, just standard fast food accompaniments. The final Cherry Popper? I ended with a Mini Oreo Concrete Mixer. I saw people order this WITH their meals and I thought, "Isn't it going to melt by the time you finish your food?" (Melted ice cream treats is a big pet peeve of mine.) So I ordered mine after i finished my food. Now, I can understand why they order WITH your meal. Their concrete mixers are made with CUSTARD so that bad boy is THICK! My fiance ordered his Vanilla Malt with his meal and it never got soft until we arrived at Birch Run, did some shopping and left it in the car (75 degrees outside) and it finally softened up! I thought they could've been a little bit more generous with my Oreo as all I got were more like black cookie flecks that look like vanilla bean ice cream than chunks of cookies. Anyhow, I'm not a custard girl. It's too thick even if melted ice cream is a pet peeve. We come to Culvers from time to time - we used to eat in Bay City but our beloved eatery closed so now we are left looking for a new place. The food is good, fresh and pleasant. I don't love the salad, but that's the only thing I can get at Culvers. My kids love it, and the kid meal comes with an ice cream. My kids were misbehaving...so we didn't get that "course". It is better than most fast food and I liked that the owner (or someone wearing the owner nametag) delivered our food. Nice to see ownership involvement. read more

I don't like to eat fast food very often, but this place does a solid burger that I'd come back for. Although I was tempted by the other offerings, I ended up with the Bacon Deluxe. I guess the "Deluxe" part means fresh lettuce and tomato, because my boyfriend's Cheddar Butterburger with bacon didn't have any vegetables besides onion. We both asked for ours without pickles and we thankfully didn't see any. The bun is soft but due to the toasting on the inside, it holds the burger together without sogging up. It is slightly sweet and obviously has a nice butter flavor. As for the restaurant itself, it was fairly clean as was the bathroom. I actually might have given this five stars, but the meat was missing some seasoning and they were unfortunately pretty stingy with the ketchup and mustard inside the bun. And the cheese wasn't quite melted onto the patty; I think it just needed another 30 seconds. read more

For the last lunch before heading back to Philly, we decided to grab some "butter" burgers and custard from a mid-Western favorite, Culver's. Definitely a step above Mickey D's, though not exactly Shake Shack. There's a bit more of a homey feel, especially since they bring your order to the table! Culver's Root Beer Culver's even has their own root beer - creamy and frothy. Culver's Butter Burger Deluxe ($5.89) Butter Burger, cheese, mayo, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, fries, medium drink The GF went with the single patty butter burger. The bun had a nice fluffy heft to it without being over-pronounced. Apparently the burgers here are always fresh, never frozen, and always cooked to order. You could taste it in the beef, which was juicy, despite being cooked to a well-done temp. The fries were crinkle-cut and perfectly crispy and creamy - quite similar to Shake Shack's. Culver's Bacon Deluxe - Double ($8.99) Butter Burger, bacon, cheese, mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomato, cheese curds, medium drink I went with the double bacon deluxe, which featured two patties. Juicy and well-seasoned, the beef was only accentuated by the hefty bacon, which could have been a bit more crisp though. And who can say no to two slices of cheese. For a dollar more, I got one of the premium sides - the cheese curds. These were perfectly crisp and contained an ooze of creamy cheese. However, it came with cold packaged marinara, which I can understand from a practical standpoint, but was a miss for me. I'll take the cheese curds alone, thanks. But we couldn't end lunch there. We decided to try some of their custard, which they make to order. Concrete Mixer ($3.19) Short vanilla concrete, Reese's peanut butter cups The GF went with a concrete mixer, which contained creamy vanilla custard and chunks of Reese's peanut butter cups. Yum. Turtle Sundae ($3.69) Hot fudge, butter caramel, Southern pecans, vanilla custard, cherry on top I went with the turtle sundae, which highlighted salty and sweet. The buttery caramel went perfectly with the pecans and hot fudge. Of course, the base of vanilla custard was incredibly creamy, yet light. While I love me some Shake Shack, I wouldn't mind if Culver's made itself known with an East Coast presence. The butter burgers are great, the fries are super crispy, and who doesn't love cheese curds? And they've got dessert covered with delicious custards and concretes. read more

Highly recommend the butterbuger, which is cooked to order with your choice of toppings (they butter the bun and then toast it on the gril, hence the name) I am also a huge fan of the lemon ice with fruit, but you can get it plain too. It is very tart, so be ware! I am not a fan of the custard. To me, it just tastes fatty. It leaves a strange texture lingering on the tongue that I can't get over. This is a sad day for me. My love for the Butterburger has fizzled. Worst burger today. At one time comparing favorably with even the Inn and Out burger of west coast, the Butterburger today crashes down close to the level of the Mickey D's cheese burger. The patty was so thin that it was see through at the edges. The so called wafer was burnt, or was it blackened for extra favor. I was reminded of the popular commercial from days past.... WHERE'S THE BEEF ? What prevented a 2 star rating was the crunchy fries and frozen custard. Thought my burnt wafer burger was an exception, but 4 other burgers from our order were the same. I'm rating this w the denominator as fast food chain. Food: 4/5 We were super tired after a long day of shopping/errands, and just wanted something fast. The fish sandwich was definitely the best of its type Ive ever had (I took 1/2 the bun off - too many carbs). It was a real piece of great cod, very thick and tasty. They dont have under a heat lamp. If you have kids or let yourself have a little ice cream occasionally, this looked like the place. Many varieties of ice cream in pints. Only suggestion: would like to see a non fried fish choice and a side salad with romaine. The best thing about Culvers are their crinkle cut French fries and dessert. Their concrete mixers are even better than a DQ Blizzard and the Turtle Sundaes are excellent. If you don't like candy bars, they have plenty of fruit and nut options for you. Don't forget to have a Culvers brewed root beer either as your drink or as a float. They pride themselves with their signature ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard, so you kind of get a good idea of what to expect going in. Culvers is great it's one of the few fast food restaurants we go to. Chicken dinners are amazing. I would make one suggestion: put the fries in their own bag separate from other fried food for take-out meals. I ordered a four piece chicken dinner for take out. When I got home the chicken had been laid on top of a bed of french fries. The fries were greasy and limp i'm not very good. Would only suggest that for takeout. Well yet another restaurant has lost my business today. Last Thursday went to Culvers in Saginaw. drive through ordered food sat in lot. Realized that food was wrong not a double burger and no dressings. Wife goes in, they send her back out with dressings in a small container. Still not the right burger either. So I guess I'm supposed to do there job. Today we go back, I talk to the manager says owner is here. I talk to him, sorry but we cant do anything without the receipt and I replied we had the receipt. He replies well I was there that day, we could have remade our food sir. I reply ok well I know a TGI Fridays down the road ill be continuing to order from, as he replies yeah well we will remake any burger you ask us too. I just wanted to hit my head on the wall w/e.
